21 | From where is the KIngdom Lydia? | Dan 2:31 | Aspilos | 60356
Ateo, you wish to think that the fourth empire is that of the Greek's because, as you stated, "Daniel 2:41 claims that the empire will be divided" but in chapter 7 the four empires are again mentioned, but this time as beasts. Note the description of the third one. Dan. 7:6 NIV "After that, I looked, and there before me was another beast, one that looked like a leopard. And on its back it had four wings like those of a bird. This beast had four heads, and it was given authority to rule. As you stated, "His empire [Alexander the Great] was then divided up among his 4 generals." Four seems to be the description of the third beast. The heads representing rulers of authority and the wings for the swiftness in which the conquered. Surely the writer wouldn't have written something to contradact himself only a few chapters later. Don't forget also that Rome was divided. Note the fourth beast in Dan. 7. Bendiciones! Aspilos |

25 | What is it about the hem? | Matt 9:20 | Aspilos | 189625
Why did the woman in ver Mat. 9:20 think she would be healed by touching the hem of Jesus' garment? What is it about the hem?
26 | What is it about the hem? | Matt 9:20 | Aspilos | 189627
Of course it wasn't the hem itself. I guess I should have made my question a bit more clear. Oft times in the bible, we see things like this that have to do with their customs. As you stated, Jesus could have been touched anywhere but why was it in her mind that if she could only touch the hem? Perhaps there's no real reason or then perhaps it has something to do with customs. Bendiciones! Aspilos |

27 | Is Hell fire literal that burns forever? | Matt 13:40 | Aspilos | 122073
First of all, I don't think we should question whether or not it is literal, but rather is it spiritual or physical. In Matthew 13, the Lord refers to hell as a fiery furnace and the evil doers that are cast therein are weeds. Weeds in this case are symbolic of evil persons. Question is, can the fiery furnace also be symbolic of something? In Luke 16, the rich man desired water to alleviate his torment. 24 So he called to him, 'Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.' I hardly doubt he was seeking regular ole wet water as we know it. I've a feeling that he needed the Spirit of Life that Jesus was speaking about to the woman at the well in John 4. 14 but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life." At any rate, I do believe that hell is literal. It's not a place any of us would want to end up. 28 | Heaven is our home. | Mark | Aspilos | 61997
Greetings Elice, Neither should we create ideas about heaven for that matter. Many believe that heaven is a place with streets of gold and a mansion on every corner. That too, is an idea that was created long ago. You said, "Heaven is far beyond our ability to understand or imagine" and I agree. Bendiciones! Aspilos |
||||||
29 | Heaven is our home. | Mark | Aspilos | 62014
EdB, good to hear from you. The word mansions was the choice of the KJV translators, but I wouldn't call it a good choice. I'm not condemning it, but let's face it, none of the translations are perfect. If you look up John 14:2 on this forum, you'll see my veiw there. As for Revelation 21:21, the street is a single street, not streets. There's only one way. That is important to know. Bendiciones! Aspilos |

30 | Heaven is our home. | Mark | Aspilos | 62020
EdB, shame shame for putting words in my mouth. I don't recall saying anything about Jesus being confused. You must have gotten that confused. :-) Why do you assume that the word for, "compartments, abodes, dwelling places, etc." is merely in reference to places where we will dwell. What if it happens to be that these are abodes where God too shall dwell. I don't think I'm out of context. Jesus makes the point clear in that same chapter. John 14:23 Jesus replied, "If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. The, "Father's house" is the Father's family. This use of the word is not at all uncommon in the Bible. We are in fact, God's abode. Eph. 2:19 Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God's people and members of God's household, 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. 21 In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. 22 And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit. Revelation 21:14 The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. Bendiciones! Aspilos |

EdB I want to make it clear that I do believe in heaven, but I believe John 14 is speaking about God and man's habitation together through the Spirit. Your right, Jesus is talking about abodes or dwelling places, there's no denying. He explains more about these abodes in ver 23. If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. Many believer, equate to many abodes. Jesus often used word pictures when speaking of spiritual things. The consumation of a marrige is a good example of God and man becoming one. 20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. Jesus prepared a place for us by offering Himself up, and making it possible for us to become children of the Father's family. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. The manner in which he is building is this. Eph 2:21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: 22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit. Bendiciones! CDBJ I think you understand this very well. I just don't know why people refuse to see it. Maybe because it's not part of the traditional teaching that has been accepted for years, but I think it is a wonderful revelation. Bendiciones! Aspilos |

34 | Heaven is our home. | Mark | Aspilos | 62100
Okay CDBJ, you're killing me with curiousity. You asked me about, "a person" but I'm not sure I'm following your question. I don't know if this is where you're going or not, but this is a verse that comes to mind. Ephesians 2:6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, Bendiciones! Aspilos |
||||||
35 | Heaven is our home. | Mark | Aspilos | 62116
May I add to that last verse? 10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. Bendiciones! Aspilos |
||||||
36 | Heaven is our home. | Mark | Aspilos | 62118
CDBJ That's an interesting point. As for Christ sitting on the throne, won't that take place when all things are finished? Bendiciones! Aspilos |
||||||
37 | Heaven is our home. | Mark | Aspilos | 62119
EdB I hope you don't mind me asking you this question. I do so, more out of curiousity. When you said, "any place our Lord and Savior resides is Heaven" were you including the Spirit making His abode in the believer? Bendiciones! Aspilos |
||||||
38 | Heaven is our home. | Mark | Aspilos | 62413
CDBJ I did understand what you where talking about. I guess I was just changing the subject. I don't believe the Lord is ever far from us, and of course this is all speculation, but do you believe that if it is possible for the Spirit to open someones eyes to see what they normally could not (as He did with Stephen), He could also give them the abliliy to see much further than normal? Just a thought. Bendiciones! Aspilos |

39 | Heaven is our home. | Mark | Aspilos | 62578
Elice, May God bless you! I was wondering, from what version is the above John 14:2-3 that you included in this post? I don't believe I'm familiar with it. Aspilos means, spotless. It is translated in the following scripture as, "without spot". 2 Peter 3:13-14 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. We are commanded to, "be diligent" because of the adversary's attempt to deceive us. Therefore, I believe we should pay close attention to the interpretation of others and judge if it is of the truth or not. It is my goal that I be, "found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless". Bendiciones! Aspilos |
