21 | How would you answer the question? | Matt 22:42 | shalor | 104963
(2 Cor 13:4-5 NASB) For indeed He was crucified because of weakness, yet He lives because of the power of God. For we also are weak in Him, yet we shall live with Him because of the power of God directed toward you. 5 Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you-- unless indeed you fail the test? I am weak, but Thou art strong; Jesus, keep me from all wrong; I’ll be satisfied as long As I walk, let me walk close to Thee. Just a closer walk with Thee, Grant it, Jesus, is my plea, Daily walking close to Thee, Let it be, dear Lord, let it be. Through this world of toil and snares, If I falter, Lord, who cares? Who with me my burden shares? None but Thee, dear Lord, none but Thee. Just a closer walk with Thee, Grant it, Jesus, is my plea, Daily walking close to Thee, Let it be, dear Lord, let it be. When my feeble life is o’er, Time for me will be no more; Guide me gently, safely o’er To Thy kingdom shore, to Thy shore. Just a closer walk with Thee, Grant it, Jesus, is my plea, Daily walking close to Thee, Let it be, dear Lord, let it be. |

22 | Fundamentalism | Matt 28:19 | shalor | 102699
(Eph 2:19-20 NASB) So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God's household, 20 having been built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone, (1 Pet 2:3-5 NASB) if you have tasted the kindness of the Lord. 4 And coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected by men, but choice and precious in the sight of God, 5 you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. (Titus 1:9 NASB) holding fast the faithful word which is in accordance with the teaching, that he may be able both to exhort in sound doctrine and to refute those who contradict. Im not sure where the Burger King analogy got in here! Christ is the Corner Stone and the Church is built upon the foundation of the Apostles and Prophets. Peter says we are to present ourselves as living stones in that building. Paul say for us to exhort in sound doctrine. Are you suggesting we should kick out the foundation and just build upon the conerstone only? |

23 | Fundamentalism | Matt 28:19 | shalor | 102704
With that I agree. But the Fundamentals can't be left out, they are required to make it functional. If it is essential is MUST be there. By definition FUNDAMENTAL is essential. |

Having dealt with Mormons, I have made these observations. They provide: Family support Training in their beliefs. A mantra that says "Surely this must be True" Hope for loved one who have passed away without Salvation. Training in how not to listen to anything else. They take your money for this. |

26 | What Sin? | John | shalor | 102384
Romans 8:31-39 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things? 33 Who will bring a charge against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies; 34 who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 Just as it is written, “For Thy sake we are being put to death all day long; We were considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” 37 But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. The declaration in Romans 8:34, “Christ Jesus is He who died,” is given in answer to the questions of verses 31-33, and in anticipation to the questions and declarations of verses 35-39. The goal of verse 34, however, is to show the absolute security of the believer. Two reasons are stated in relation to God the Son: |

27 | What Sin? | John | shalor | 102385
(1) Christ Died as Our Redeemer and Substitute: By His death Christ removed the barrier that separates mankind from God. Man’s sin and God’s holiness, which form a barrier between the sinner and God, were dealt with at the cross so God is free to justify us, declare us righteous through faith in Jesus Christ. The same truth is declared in the following verses. Romans 3:23-24 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus; 25 whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed; 26 for the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present time, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. 27 Where then is boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? Of works? No, but by a law of faith. 28 For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law. Romans 5:1,8 1 Therefore having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, … 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. The book of Hebrews states Christ’s death is the only sacrifice which counts and is once and for all time. Hebrews 9:11-14 But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things to come, He entered through the greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this creation; 12 and not through the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood, He entered the holy place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. 13 For if the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been defiled, sanctify for the cleansing of the flesh, 14 how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? Hebrews 9:26-28 Otherwise, He would have needed to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now once at the consummation of the ages He has been manifested to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. 27 And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment, 28 so Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, shall appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin, to those who eagerly await Him. Hebrews 10:12-14 but He, having offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, sat down at the right hand of God, 13 waiting from that time onward until His enemies be made a footstool for His feet. 14 For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified. |

28 | What Sin? | John | shalor | 102386
(2) Christ Is Risen and Sits at God’s Right Hand. The second argument of Romans 8:34 concerns the resurrection and session of the Savior at God’s right hand. He sits at God’s right hand as our powerful advocate and intercessor to plead our case when we sin or when accused of sin, and to intercede on our behalf by virtue of His finished work on the cross which reconciles us to God. Revelation 12:10 And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, who accuses them before our God day and night.” Romans 5:10-11 For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. 11 And not only this, but we also exult in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation. Hebrews 7:25 Hence, also, He is able to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. John 17:11 And I am no more in the world; and yet they themselves are in the world, and I come to Thee. Holy Father, keep them in Thy name, the name which Thou hast given Me, that they may be one, even as We are. |

(1 Cor 3:12-15 NASB) Now if any man builds upon the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, 13 each man's work will become evident; for the day will show it, because it is to be revealed with fire; and the fire itself will test the quality of each man's work. 14 If any man's work which he has built upon it remains, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any man's work is burned up, he shall suffer loss; but he himself shall be saved, yet so as through fire. |

33 | Kingdom of God...now? | Ephesians | shalor | 101320
Eph 4 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fulness of Christ. The degree that one experices it wuould best be decribed in verse 13 to a mature man. The fancy term for this is sanctification. it is a continual Growing process and will never be complete until the final cumulation of the Kingdom at Christ's return. 2 Cor 12 9 And He has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness." Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may dwell in me. The power of Christ to dwell in us is determined by how much strength or oppisition we put up to it. much like the difference between a 40 watt light bulb abd a 100 watt light buld the 40 watt bulb put up more internal resistance and therfore put out less light. |

34 | What needs to be reconciled in heaven? | Col 1:20 | shalor | 102471
I believe I understood your question, I just did't make my answer clear. Something I am famous for. What was reconciled in heaven is the seperation between God and man caused by the fall. (Rom 8:20-22 NASB) For the creation was subjected to futility, not of its own will, but because of Him who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now. (2 Cor 5:18-20 NASB) Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ, and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation. 20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were entreating through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. We are now reconciled with God. This does not mean everyone will be saved, just that the bridge has been established between God and man. |

36 | "a thorn in the side"? or Not? | 1 John 2:2 | shalor | 100735
In carrying the gospel, it is imperative to remember that it is the good news, not the bad news that one is presenting. Of course this requires the necessity of presenting the fact that this is good news because they already are in a state of bad news. All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. And the wages of sin is death but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. Isaiah 55:11 teaches : So shall My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it. The gospel that is carried is God’s word and will accomplish what he desires. A foot soldier for Christ should take care of how he cares for his feet. EPH 6:15 and having shod YOUR FEET WITH THE PREPARATION OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE; Jesus teaches in Matt 10:14, Mark 6:11, Luke 9:5, and Luke 10,11 that we should shake the dust our feet of those who reject. In other word keep your feet clean they are shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. In simple language don’t dirty up the gospel. Those that reject the Gospel reject God’s word, not my word or your word. In Acts 13 when Paul is at Pisidian Antioch, he clearly shares the Gospel, with a warning, But in the final verse he shake the dust from his feet, as Jesus taught, and moves on down the line. |

I would add a hearty amen to that, but first I would like to add. None of my Bibles have been defiled thaey are still 16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; This assumes there is a student(s) that are available, willing and capable of hering the word. They have not defiled God's word they just aren't reading and hearing it. The Church that Christ founded was built upon a rock. (Mat 16:18 NASB) "And I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades shall not overpower it. And upon this rock the Corner Stone has been laid: 1 Pet 2 6 For this is contained in Scripture: "BEHOLD I LAY IN ZION A CHOICE STONE, A PRECIOUS CORNER stone, AND HE WHO BELIEVES IN HIM SHALL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED." 7 This precious value, then, is for you who believe. But for those who disbelieve, "THE STONE WHICH THE BUILDERS REJECTED, THIS BECAME THE VERY CORNER stone," 8 and, "A STONE OF STUMBLING AND A ROCK OF OFFENSE"; for they stumble because they are disobedient to the word, and to this doom they were also appointed. |
