21 | Guidelines on rebuking | Matthew | WalkingTalkingBible | 125911
LeslieN, are you a new convert? I ask because you seem a little lifted up in your own eyes. We are here to share, study and help each other understand God's Word. If revelation is given to you where one understands because of something that you've stated, give God the glory, you can't do anything on your own. God will not give His glory to another! I'm not being mean, I'm only going by such phrases as "this is my work" and "also a pat on the back, well I can't really get one if no one knows who I am." Let's remember, we're not here to "sound good" to each other or become famous (even though some will), but to help souls desire a closer relationship with God. It's all about Him, not about us. If I've misjudged you, I apologize. WalkingTalkingBible |

I know what you, mean! I don't mind you being long winded, I love to hear testamonies on how God is giving the victory in others lives. You're right, I'm also God's witness. Yes, I have given her the verses on robbing God in tithes, offerings and the blessings (Malachi 3:8-12). I've also given her spiritual advice on believing in God which is trusting Him for everything and also on giving ungrudgingly. The problem I run into the most in teaching about tithing is that people say that they can't afford to tithe. What they don't understand is that they can't afford NOT to tithe! Thanks for your response. WalkingTalkingBible |

23 | antichrist | Luke 10:27 | WalkingTalkingBible | 125057
Hi, c marengo, do you believe in the Rapture (not a word in our Bible, it comes from a Latin verb meaning "caught up")? I don't view it as an escape as you say some do, but I do know it's going to happen. God says that we are not appointed to wrath (1 Thessalonians 5:9). So,when the Tribulation period comes, we will not be on earth. The Rapture marks the end of the Church Age. Allow me to explain: In 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, we are told that the dead in Christ will be caught up and all believers that are alive will be caught up together with them. This is the end of the Grace Dispensation (Church Age). Who will be left? The unbelievers: the Jews that did not accept Christ and all unbelieving Gentiles (you know, non-Jews). Christ dying on the cross for the sins of the world was the end of God's dealings with the Jews (Daniel 9:26) and Salvation was opened to all (Matthew 27:51-53 the renting of the veil symbolizes that all have access to God through Christ). Since God had promised the Jews Salvation (deliverance), He has (is going) to keep His word. Christ's death on the cross marked the prophetic 69th week, with one week left. Even though the Jews rejected Christ, during the Tribulation period (the last week - 70th) they (and the Gentiles but the main focus is on the Jews) will be given a final chance to accept Him (the 144,000 and numberless multitude in Revelation 7:9 will). These are real events that will happen to fulfill God's prophesy. For example, all Jews will return to Jerusalem, 10 nations will yield their sovereignty to the Rome (Daniel 7:7 and Revelation 13:1 - ten horns), the Antichrist will be rise (little horn in Daniel 7:8 and Revelation 13:1) and defile the temple (abomination of desolation). He will make a peace treaty with the Jews and break the covenant in the middle of the "week" (Daniel 9:27). Some of these things have not happened, so we know that they will come or else we make God a liar! I'm glad to hear that you have the Holy Ghost because He can teach you these things, also. Thanks for responding. WalkingTalkingBible P.S. Do you believe in dispensations? Maybe I'm misunderstanding (and I'm sorry if I am) but when I speak of Tribulation, I'm talking about the time that will occur after this Grace Dispensation (Church Age). I don't mean that anyone professing Christ won't face tribulation and trials - these are for the refining of our faith (Romans 5:3). |

24 | when is the antichrist coming | Luke 10:27 | WalkingTalkingBible | 125016
Hi, hefourgvs, to understand God's word you must have the Holy Ghost dwelling within (not saying that you don't) to help to rightly divide the word of truth when you study. However, I will be very, very brief for now: Daniel was given a message from God. The message was to the Jews. After dealing with them for 69 weeks (God's time, not ours), He turned His attention to Gentiles, saving all (not just Gentiles) who will accept Jesus as Savior. But He promised to deal with the Jews, so in the last week (70th), He will deal with the Jews again. But prophesy will be fulfilled. The Jews will return to Jerusalem to rebuild the city, the Antichrist will make a 7 year peace covenant with the Jews and he will break it half way in, the Antichrist will have the temple destroyed and he will put his image there for all to worship him (known as the abomination of desolation), Satan will be bound for a thousand years, the New Jerusalem and Christs returns to reign. All of this can be found in the book of Daniel, Revelations, and throughout other parts of both the O.T. and the N.T. Sorry for being so brief, but it is better to study these event by event. Hi, c marengo, what's SBC? I believe that things in the spirit have happened in eternity past, but that certainly doesn't mean that it has already happened on earth. I can't make you believe in the person of the antichrist, but I just pray that you're not around when his time comes. In no way should any Christian be scared of the devil, he's defeated and God has given us power over him. But like I said before, that doesn't make him null and void. So, do you believe that the devil has no affect on your life? The tribulation has already come? My friend, there is so much error in your understanding that I can only pray (I say this out of love and concern). Please don't think I'm being mean, but it's true. What concerns me most is that you may be (or are) teaching others to believe what you believe. Being aware of our enemy is not following Christ out of fear, it's following Him out of wisdom. Please ask God to fill you with the Holy Ghost. He will help you understand the Word of God. WalkingTalkingBible |

27 | antichrist | Luke 10:27 | WalkingTalkingBible | 124754
Hi, c marengo, are you a new convert? I ask because of your zeal and thankfulness for Christ in your life! There's nothing wrong with that, in fact, I admire it. But the truth must be given to a couple of points you made in your post. You say, "antichrist is not a person unless you are speaking of yourself apart from christ." The antichrist is an actual person. Because Satan will use him to mock Jesus, he will be a man just like Jesus (except he is not God, like Jesus). He will be empowered by Satan and work miracles and signs to deceive and lure people from God. This is in the books of Daniel (7) and Revelation (13) and throughout the four Gospels. The antichrist will erect an image of himself and demand people to bow down and worship him (abomination of desolation in Matthew 24:15 and Mark 13:14). This is important to acknowledge because the very souls we are to witness to and win (or warn) will be heading for the Tribulation period if they live, and eternal separation from God if they die before the Rapture. We do have a battle. Jesus defeated Satan spiritually. He overcame everything the enemy could ever bring our way. But the devil didn't go away. Yes, we have the victory if we believe. However, we are still in this world system and are still in this flesh. As believers, we walk in faith that the enemy is defeated, because he is, but that doesn't make him stop trying to kill, to steal, and to destroy (John 10:10a). If we walk with our heads in the clouds and pretend like the devil is gone away, we walk in ignorance. We are exhorted to "Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil." (Ephesians 6:11) If we didn't have a battle, why would we need spiritual armour? "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." (James 4:7) Jesus' redemptive work on the cross took the dominion and power that man lost through sin and gives it to those who are fully committed to and accepts Him as Savior (born again). Yes, we have the victory, but we have to keep ourselves in subjection to the will of God and since we are still in the flesh and in this world system, Jesus has given us what we need to successfully stay saved until He returns for us. 29 | A believer who smokes? | Mark 7:18 | WalkingTalkingBible | 124736
Hi, Dadda, you have been given some very encouraging and truthful words from those who obviously care enough to share their own testimonies with you. Please listen to them. Maybe, as a new convert, you didn't know smoking was not of God, but now you do. "Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin." James 4:17 Yes, God will deliver you from the burden of smoking, only if you are willing to give it up. Psalm 55:22 says, "Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and He shall sustain thee: He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved." You have to be willing to totally let go, totally give it up. God will not TAKE it from you. You have a choice to make. Dadda, please don't use other people, whether professing Christians or not, as your example to live the holy life God calls for. Jesus is your example and He did not smoke, over eat, curse, fornicate, hate, covet, lie, or any other sin. As a child of God, you should hate what God hates and love what God loves. Right now you know that God doesn't approve smoking or any other act that defiles the body (His temple). Since God loves souls and wants them saved, I would not want to be a stumbling block to others who would be saved. Even some unbelievers feel that smoking is not good. So, what if God led you to witness to an unbeliever? I don't think he would be very accepting of Christ because your smoking will kill your witness (not that you would witness with a cigarette between your fingers, but the smell stays with you). Afterall, if God can't deliver you from something as small as smoking, then how is He going to deliver someone from a life of sin?? "Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:" 2 Corinthians 3:2 Your life should reflect God and not fleshy desires and lack of self control! Know that you are not alone in this. As God commands us to bear each other's burdens (Galatians 6:2) and I know this is not easy, I will be praying for you and with you. But you have to acknowledge that this is not of God and want to be freed from the burden of smoking, and He will do it. Then you can be concerned about spiritual things. "Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines have tender grapes." Song of Solomon 2:15 WalkingTalkingBible "A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump." "He that cometh to God must believe that He is. . ." Hebrews 11:6 Hi, pcdarcan, can I ask you - Do all good and moral people go to Heaven (God's everlasting Kingdom)? Jehovah's Witness and followers are called a cult because the religion is based on a god and not God. Their beliefs are based on a bible and not the Bible (the Living Word - God). Throughout the Word of God (Old and New Testaments) is God as the Creator (Father), God as the Word (Son), and God as the Holy Spirit (1 Timothy 3:16). The leader of the Jehovah's Witness religion made God the way He could understand Him. God is not a word, He is His Word - which is Jesus. The Holy Spirit is not a force - He is God in spirit. The Living God is a Holy Trinity - one God, three manifestations - not separate. I've had the opportunity to talk with some Jehovah Witness members and they are nice people when they talk to you - I agree about that - but there's no anointing. I also work with some J.W.'s and some of their lifestyles are as those that don't believe. The only way members are added is to present themselves in this matter and only someone who doesn't know God will follow. I don't say this to put you down because before I believed, I didn't know God either. I know that if more Christians would witness and let the Light shine in their lives, more souls would be added to God's real Kingdom. But face it, the unsaved is not looking for truth, they're looking for something to make them feel good. They want to be told that they can do what they want and still go to Heaven (God's everlasting Kingdom). But I have to tell you that only the believing (those who KNOW God and believe in all of Him and not just what they want) will be in God's Kingdom. The J.W. religion (I won't be disrespectful and say cult) and it's doctrine teaches of an idol god and not the Living God. "Not every one that saith unto Me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven." Matthew 7:21 WalkingTalkingBible |

31 | Question for Jehovah's Witness friend | John 14:28 | WalkingTalkingBible | 124606
Hi, Tara, I must say that you know your religion well (too bad God is not about religion in that sense). I've read your posts and I don't blame you for your erroneous beliefs, I blame the false teachers and prophets that fed you that stuff. However, I only want to help (and I'll do that by prayer). I would like to ask you: What does your doctrine say for 1 Timothy 3:16? What does your doctrine say for Isaiah 9:6 and 1 John 5:7? What about the Holy Ghost (Spirit)? I wouldn't let "s" or "S" deceive me. The Holy Spirit is not an "it." Contrary to what you have been taught, the Holy Spirit is not a force, He is a living being, He is the manifestation of God (just like Jesus) that lives within true believers, showing them the difference between truth and lies, and showing the need and importance of redemption (John 14:17, 26; 16:7-13). Let's not try to understand God using unparallel comparisons. A natural father and son can't be the same flesh, neither husband and wife (spiritully, they can). God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit can be seen in this way: A man is a father, is married, and works as a mailman (these are only used as examples - no spiritual meaning). To his child, he's a father. To his wife, he's a husband, and to his employer, he's a mailman. Being a father doesn't take away from being a husband or mailman, neither does being a mailman take away from being a father and husband. How many men are there? Just one! So it is with God - one God, three manifestations (and a whole lot of names). The Holy Spirit is not prejudice - He will dwell with you and show you the truth if you ask Him to. (Let's talk about the 144,000 later) WalkingTalkingBible |

Hi, Ray, have a safe and blessed trip and I will be studying these verses for discussion when you return. 33 | Demon-possessed believer? | Luke 4:33 | WalkingTalkingBible | 124210
Hi, charis, I stand corrected. I should've use the words "demon-oppressed" instead of possessed. In no way do I believe that true believers are possessed by demons, but he will try to oppress if we don't live by faith and walk in victory. I agree (and in no means walk in fear of a defeated foe!) that true believers are FREE indeed! Jesus has already conquered the devil and God has given us power to deal with whatever the enemy brings our way. Thanks for your response! More than a conqueror, WalkingTalkingBible |

34 | Demon-possessed believer? | Luke 4:33 | WalkingTalkingBible | 124209
Hi, Ray, I believe that the Holy Ghost, which is God, dwells in the believer after he/she has been filled. I would use "filled" and "dwells within" interchangeably. According to John 14:17b ("but ye know Him; for He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.") the Holy Spirit, God Himself lives within and not a holy spirit. We belong to God and are used by Him (as opposed to Him being used by us). Going back to 2 Corinthians 10:4, the weapons of our warfare are "mighty through God" (KJV) meaning that the weapons are only mighty by the power of God. Someone who does not have the Holy Spirit dwelling within may have the weapons, but will not be empowered because aside from the power of God, we have no power. Gift, to me, indicates that we cannot earn the Holy Ghost, He will dwell with whomever asks Him to (Luke 11:13b). God is the Power, He is a Spirit (John 4:24) and He is Holy. He is the Spirit that empowers, but no one has His power apart from Him. Even for those of us in whom He dwells, we have no power but the Power that's in us. The Holy Spirit, being a manifestation of God, proceeds from Him (John 15:26) in that He is not less than God, but is God. Jesus also says, "the Father sent Me" meaning that God sent His Word. With the Holy Spirit, God sends His Spirit. Mark 14:26 is still a mystery to me (I haven't studied it in depth) because Revelation 5:6 says that the Lamb was standing in the midst of the Thrown (where God is sitting), but He took the book out of God's right hand. Now I believe that Jesus and God are one, but right now, I can only understand that God has three manifestations but all three are One. Thanks for responding and elaborating, WalkingTalkingBible |

36 | Demon-possessed believer? | Luke 4:33 | WalkingTalkingBible | 123996
Hi, Vendeak7, and welcome to the forum. Depending on how you define "demon-possessed," a believer can be. When the topic is brought up, many tend to think of the possession in the "Exorcist." However, Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 10:4b - 5, "pulling down strongholds and casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ." These are daily activities in which every believer should be involved. "Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?" Romans 6:16 When you look at "possessed" it means to "have control over." Many Christian lives are filled with depression, anger, unforgiveness, bitterness, pride, and many other ungodly things. They are believers but have not been delivered from those strongholds. Where do these strongholds come from? Certainly not God! "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. . ." Hosea 4:6a There are believers who "float around on cloud nine" and think that because they believe, they are safe from the attacks of the enemy. There is a very good reason Gods tells us to "put on the whole armour." To believe is one thing, but to be free is another. The Holy Ghost empowers believers against the enemy and his spirits, but He's like a loaded gun in the hands of a baby - all power and don't know how to use it (Him). Some take Salvation at face value while the devil with his demons are afflicting their bodies, touching their finances, bothering their minds, and destroying their relationships. Some may think this is okay, but that's not what Jesus says. Yes, the demons acknowledge the Holy Ghost, He is God. However, spiritual ignorance gives them permission into lives. We (Holy Ghost filled believers) have the power (through faith in the Word of God) to pull down those strongholds and get those demons out of our lives. WalkingTalkingBible |

I am asking God for direction in this situation. The person who makes the announcement is being obedient. Love is most important. Thank you for your response. WalkingTalkingBible |

Thank you, following him, for your response. I needed your input as I am deciding not to support the ministry that believes that (I've been a supporter for almost 3 years) because I've learned the truth and I see the new converts dropping like flies. . . The truth is, and there's no way to tarry for tongues, that God gives the utterance. The new converts are told that if they don't speak in tongues they don't really have "it (I wouldn't call the Holy Ghost an it.)" This is such a lie. Thanks, again, for your response as I really would rather hear from "Tongue Speakers" on this matter. P.S. English was one of my worse classes also! WalkingTalkingBible |

Hi, mommapbs, I've enjoyed the discussion about baptism between you and Rowdy. Your question at the end of your post especially got my attention. I have a similar question to some of those I fellowship with: If a person who never spoke in tongues got up to teach, would you be so bold to say that he/she isn't filled with the Holy Ghost?) This is something I'm facing today - the "tongue speakers" seem to believe that those who haven't spoken in tongues are not filled with the Holy Ghost. This is so discouraging to the new converts. Thanks for your question at the end of your post, it makes me wonder how different ones would answer. I thank God for the truth! WalkingTalkingBible |
