101 | Does God ordain women bishops? | Titus 2:4 | WalkingTalkingBible | 118277
Thanks, Rex, this helps alot. I understand now, that, what's going on today is a lot of self and not enough truth. It takes the power of the Holy Ghost to submit yourself and not power in self. I see a lot of women being ordained as bishops, calling themselves elders and pastors, and it grieves my spirit. I want women to understand that "head" is a position that God ordains and not men (even though some men take it out of context). I understand now the role of a woman of God in the body of Christ is in no wise less important than the role of the man of God. They are just different and God made it this way. Brothers and sisters in the body of Christ must learn to love each other, regardless of a title or calling, and not make it seem like "if you're not the head, then you are less important." Thanks, again, Rex. WalkingTalkingBible |

102 | Does God ordain women bishops? | Titus 2:4 | WalkingTalkingBible | 118259
Thanks for taking time with my question. It has to be understood that the Corinthian church was predominantly new converts. They were operating in the gifts of the Spirit and there was some confusion. Since the Corinthian women were not well educated, they were advised to learn from their husbands at home (1 Corinthians 14:35). They were told to keep silent in the church out of obedience, they, too, had the gifts of the Spirit. Men, who spoke in tongues without an interpreter, were also to keep silent in church (1 Corinthians 14:28). I know women can hold the offices of Evangelist, Teacher, Prophetess, and Deaconess. These offices do not only serve women, but for the edification of all souls. Since "minister" means "to serve," I think of this to be more of a duty rather than a title and women and men believers are to be "ministers." But I'm still a little unsettled about women bishops, pastors, and elders; but it's almost clear that women in the latter positions is not Scripture. Thanks for your time, Fletch. Rowdy, I agree that the separation from the Father was an unexplainable, tormenting horror for Jesus. One of my favorite verses is Hebrews 12:2, "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God." Knowing that He would be joined again with the Father was His motivation to ENDURE. Jesus has encouraged me to keep my focus on being joined with Him and not to let these little life circumstances make me take my mind off of Him. Even though Jesus was not condemned to hell (He wasn't a sinner, He became sin for us), I know He knows what hell is like (being separated from the Father) and was motivated to die for the sins of us, because of His love for us. This is the very drive I have to teach, love, and longsuffer with those who are living in error, unsaved, and lost, so that their souls are not eternally separated in the end. This was a great response you gave! What a Mighty God we serve!! WalkingTalkingBible |

104 | Who has left an awesome legacy to follow | NT general Archive 1 | WalkingTalkingBible | 117909
YoYo, I have a few more (well four to be exact): Mary, the mother of Jesus - who, even though she didn't understand everything her Son had to accomplish, stayed by His side, even at the cross - which teaches us that we may not know everything that God is doing, just trust Him (any of the 4 Gospels) Hannah - one of the wives of Elkanah, the one "he loved," was made fun of by the other wife, Peninnah, because of her barreness; she knew she could trust God and went before Him and asked Him for a son and promised to give the son back to God if He answered her prayer, as God did allow her to have a son (Samuel, the Judge), she kept her word, praising God for answering her prayer (1 Samuel 1 - 2:1-11) Sarai (Sarah, the wife of Abraham) - when God had promised them a son in their old age (and Sarai was barren), Sarai chuckled in misbelief, went on, after years had passed before they had received this son, gave Abraham her handmaiden, and they had a son (Ishmael), God made them wait even longer, and finally, she brought forth the son God intended (Isaac); this teaches us not to be like Sarai (as the world is still dealing with the decendants of Ishmael today) and wait on God for everything - never move before God (Genesis 15 and 16) Judas Iscariot - betrayed Jesus for some silver, was greedy and selfish, didn't repent, driven to commit suicide because of his guilt (John 12:2-5; Matthew 26:15; Matthew 27) I know there are lots more but maybe someone else would like to contribute! 105 | Did the Holy Spirit go to Hell? | NT general Archive 1 | WalkingTalkingBible | 117893
I hope I didn't lead anyone to believe that Jesus was condemned to hell after His death. All I said is that after He left His natural body (on the cross), He went to get the believers, that had died before His redemptive work, and took them into the presence of God. Believing that Jesus was condemned to Hell like sinful man is a humanistic view that blocks the revelation of the truth. Jesus obtained the keys to death and hell (Revelation 1:18), where before sin was crucified and overcome by Him, no human could go into the presence of God (often called Paradise). In death, the soul and spirit are separated from the body. Hell was a holding place for both the believing and unbelieving souls although they were separated there. After Jesus' death (in that He crucified and overcome death and sin), there was now reconciliation between God and man, and those souls, who died believing God, but also died in bondage to sin, were now worthy to be in the presences of God. The Lake of Fire, I know, is the second death, the eternal separation of the soul from God after judgment. In no way does this mean that Jesus went to hell for three days. Remember, He told the other thief on the cross, "TODAY shalt thou be with Me in paradise" (Luke 23:43). WalkingTalkingBible |

Nowhere in the Greek text for 1 Peter 3:19-20 does it say NOW. Anyway, as you are getting closer to God in your daily walk and as you continue to search for the truth as it is, He will reveal it to you (as He spoke to the other followers in John 8:31-32). As servants of God, we do not have to strive. I've prayed that the truth be known. WalkingTalkingBible |

Let's take the limitations off of God. God created the heaven and the earth, as well as hell (Matthew 25:41). It's not a "bad thing" to think that Jesus, who is God in the flesh, the Living Word of God, went to hell to take care of business. Yes, He ascended after death, but as Ephesians 4:8-10 says, He had to first descend. There was not paradise for man until Jesus' victorious death. 1 Peter 3:19 simply says that He went and preached unto the spirits in prison. What kind of prison holds spirits? Would one call heaven prison?? The spirits are not held on earth against their wills. God is in total control at all times. He's sovereign. Jesus says in Revelation 1:18, that He has the keys to hell and death.

109 | Did Jesus actually go to Hell? | NT general Archive 1 | WalkingTalkingBible | 117869
I didn't say that Jesus went to hell to stay. He went to set the captives (those believers that died before Christ's redemptive work on the cross) free. Before Christ died for the sins of the world, no human, except Elijah and Enoch, went into the presence of God. WalkingTalkingBible |

A lot of things Jesus did to "fulfill all righteousness." For example, when He was baptized (Matthew 3:13-15), He didn't have to be baptized, but if we are to do all that He does, He was baptized as an example of what we are supposed to do. Remember also, He was every bit human as He was God. Knowing also, that before his death, all who died went to hell, that prison we talked about earlier, so He commended His spirit (not the Holy Spirit) into God's control.

In 1 Peter 3:19, the term "prison" designates hell. Ecclesiastes 12:7 speaks of death and says, ". . . and the spirit shall return unto God Who gave it." We know that after death, depending on the spiritual choice one made while living, one either goes into the presence of God or to hell (which is like a holding place before the lake of fire). Because Jesus' purpose was not a natural one, He would not have gone to a natural prison to set "spirits" free. Also, no one is held captive in Heaven, so heaven is not a "prison." Since we know that the enemy takes the unbeliever captive (2 Timothy 2:26), then hell would be like a prison. This is especially so before the death of Jesus because there was no reconciliation between God and man. There was only one place to go, believing or unbelieving. WalkingTalkingBible |

113 | when was lucifer kicked out of heaven | Genesis | WalkingTalkingBible | 117653
Satan is an angel, or spirit, created by God. How does Job 1:6 prove that Satan was not kicked out of Heaven? He came to present himself like the rest of the angels. The angels ascend and descend all the time (John 1:51). Satan is not in control, he has to also submit to God. WalkingTalkingBible |

Revelation is not just a prophesy of the last days, it is the actual revelation of Jesus Christ, in whom all things were made (John 1:1-3,14). God doesn't have a beginning or end and Jesus is our beginning and end (which is God, His Word). Revelation 12 is a very good example of the summary of the beginning to the beginning of the tribulation period. The woman is the nation, Israel. The crown of twelve stars symbolizes the twelve tribes of Israel. The child is Jesus. This chapter tells us what went on in the beginning. Before the earth and heavens were created, all this had taken place, thus taking us to Genesis 1:2 where the devil had already been expelled from Heaven, he and a third of the host of heaven (Revelation 12:4).
115 | But do we have to sin? | Job 1:21 | WalkingTalkingBible | 117633
God doesn't allow evil so that He can get glory. He gets glory only we choose to do His will over our sinful ways. (Sorry, I forgot to put this in the last answer)

Yep, you got it! God gets the glory when we overcome sin. WalkingTalkingBible |
