21 | and you will be like God | Gen 3:5 | Vintage68 | 216588
Hi John Yes John, thank you for the bible lesson, but doesn't it also say. Gen 2: 7, 15, 18 - 23 7.) And the LORD God formed ("MAN") (of the dust of the ground), (and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life;) and (man became a living soul.) 15.) And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. 18.) And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; (I will make him an help meet for him.) 19.) And (OUT OF THE GROUND the LORD God formed every beast of the field), and (every fowl of the air; and (brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them:) and (whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.) 20.) And (Adam gave names to all cattle), and (to the fowl of the air), and (to every beast of the field); (but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.) 21.) And (the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept:) (and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;) 22.) (AND THE RIB), (which the LORD God had taken from man), (MADE HE A WOMAN, and (brought her unto the man.) 23.) (AND ADAM SAID), (THIS IS NOW BONE OF MY BONES), (AND FLESH OF MY FLESH:) (SHE SHALL BE CALLED WOMAN), ((BECAUSE SHE WAS TAKEN OUT OF MAN.)) I have taken the liberty of adding the brackets for clarification. I have capitalized for emphasis of the words, so don't think I'm yelling. Man was created OUTSIDE the Garden, Woman, and everything else was created INSIDE the Garden I don't know if you noticed, but the beast of the field, and the fowls of the air, were all made from the ground, as Adam was. But Eve was made from the rib, that God took out of Adam. In looking back at verse 7 you will see, ("and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life;and man became a living soul.") We don't see that taking place with Eve. Do we? Does it say she is a living soul also? I don't care to speculate on that question. Now as we all know, God is sovereign, so he can do anything he pleases on this earth can't he. I see she was taken out of MAN as the bible states, that makes her in the image OF MAN. Man was created for fellowship with God. Woman was created for fellowship with Man. You seem to be taking the scripture that is in Gen. 1:27 which seems to be the (General Accounting) as to the creation story, which by the way I am not disputing, "GOD CREATED MAN, AND WOMAN." But to take it a step further in Gen. 2 we see what could be called, the actual (Creation Process.) 1.) Who was created, 2) What was created, 3.) When were they created,4.) Where were they created 5.) Why were they created, 6.) How were they created. Vintage68 |

22 | Triplets? | Gen 5:32 | Vintage68 | 214644
Hi Keliy Thanks for the answer. The math on Shem was a good piece of information. Your right, It would take someone like Branham to come up with the Twin theory, in light of the two scriptures in there original context. Genesis 4:1, 2 And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD. And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. Vintage68 |

23 | Where is this date from? | Gen 7:12 | Vintage68 | 215036
Hi BMyers Just for a clarification on my part. I am stating that the flood took place in the year 1656 period. Not that it was a BC date. Time then started again as far as I am concerned after the flood. The experts with all of their educated guesses, are all coming from Exidus backwards to the flood. I on the other hand am coming from Adam forward to the flood. If you put the two time frames together it comes out to approximately 4000 - 5000 years from Adam to Jesus. Depending on the expert. As far an age of the Earth, that is a completely different matter. We all know and agree that it took 6 days for the creation, God resting on the 7th. But from that point on we have no evidence as to how long Adam, and Eve were in the garden before expulsion. So as far as I am concerned, it could be as long as the geologists say it is. We just don't know. Vintage68 |

24 | Why did God tell Abraham to kill his son | Gen 22:2 | Vintage68 | 214881
Hi again bibleman Just had another thought. The bible says where there is no law there is no sin. Just based on that Even if Abraham had Killed his son as you have stated. That act would not have been sin, based on the grounds that there was not at that time, any law about killing, murder, etc. Rom.4:15 Rom. 5:13 Vintage68 |

25 | Why did God tell Abraham to kill his son | Gen 22:2 | Vintage68 | 214883
Hi humbledbyhisgrace Well to tell you the truth, that would be pure speculation. I can only go by what the bible says, and believe it. What are your thoughts on that matter?:-) Vintage68 |

26 | Why did God tell Abraham to kill his son | Gen 22:2 | Vintage68 | 214888
Hi Humbled I have added the brackets. Maybe this will help Rom.4:15 Because the law worketh wrath: (for where no law is), (there is no transgression). 1 John 3:4 (Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law): (for sin is the transgression of the law). Ok If you want to split the hair about the exact wording. Sorry:-) Vintage68 |

27 | Why did God tell Abraham to kill his son | Gen 22:2 | Vintage68 | 214899
In looking at the statement made, was the integrity of the bible compromised? Did the statement, in any way change the context of the original text? Did the statement, in any way change the meaning of the original text? No, nothing has been lost in using the word sin, instead of the word transgression. You use the word "rightly (handling) the word of truth." I use the word (dividing). Who is misrepresenting the bible? I DO Vintage68 |

28 | Why did God tell Abraham to kill his son | Gen 22:2 | Vintage68 | 214901
Hi bibleman Every question you have asked including your original question, seem to have the same thrust in them, they all appear to be trying to catch God in a lie, or a contradiction. It would help, if in the future you would address your posts. Vintage68 |

29 | Why did God tell Abraham to kill his son | Gen 22:2 | Vintage68 | 214910
Hi bibleman Why do you equate the SACRIFICE of Isaac to God an evil act (sin)? The other places where the sacrifice of children are mentioned are only in relation to false gods, idols. I added brackets. This was the test, and the culmination of it. Gen.22:10-12 10.) And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son. 11.) And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I. 12.) And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: (for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.) Vintage68 |

30 | Why did God tell Abraham to kill his son | Gen 22:2 | Vintage68 | 214921
Hi Wildoliveshoot The answer that was given was in relation to a question that was being asked, with the knowledge of SIN as we have it today, ie after the Mosaic Law. The question also said kill which was actually sacrifice. But this should answer your question. From Adam to Moses, there was no law. Rom. 5:14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come. Vintage68 |

31 | Why did God tell Abraham to kill his son | Gen 22:2 | Vintage68 | 214955
Hi bibleman This is your original question: "When God told Abraham to kill his son... why was that not sin and why was that not tempting Abraham to sin? Which would be against what God said in James chapter 1 about God NOT temping any man with evil." In your asking this question you were not being honest with the members of this forum, you purposefully with-held information. Information which now you try to use as a defense, for your being so obtuse in your reluctance to accept any answers as sufficient. By doing so, you denied those that were trying to answer your question, information that was pertinent to "SOMEONE ELSES QUESTION" namely, someone that should be locked up if they think God is telling them do kill. When you were confronted with your unwillingness to look at your question rationally, you again with-held this information, you just stated that you were talking to a friend. Granted you did ask a question, it was answered correctly. But far beyond that, you came to a forum for studying the word of God trying to get an answer for a person that needs counseling. That is not the purpose of the forum. If you would have posted the true facts of your dilemma, as you have finally done, you would have saved everyone involved a lot of time. There is no answer that will be sufficient for your friend, but the question then arises, IS IT SUFFICIENT FOR YOU? I will be praying for you, and your friend. May God Bless you Vintage68 |

32 | Why did God tell Abraham to kill his son | Gen 22:2 | Vintage68 | 214958
Hi bibleman My intent was not meant to insult you, but when asking a question of people , those people need to know the special circumstances surrounding said question. Because the answer to your question is really very simple. There is no answer for a person that is suffering from a mental illness. There is no logical way of answering an Illogical question. Is that the reason you, have to this point been unable to answer it yourself? I did not say your question was dishonest, but we all need to know what the real reason any given question is asked. (common curtsy) Be Blessed Vintage68 |

34 | What does the Bible say about gambling? | Ex 20:17 | Vintage68 | 214733
Hi Humility Your question is, "What does the Bible say about gambling?" This is the only scripture that even comes close to speaking of gambling. Matthew 27:35 When they had crucified him, they divided up his clothes by casting lots. Psalm 22:18 They divide my garments among them and cast lots for my clothing. But as you can see, it really does nothing more than describe the same type of event that took place when the land of Israel was divided between the tribes. Joshua 18:10 Joshua then cast lots for them in Shiloh in the presence of the LORD, and there he distributed the land to the Israelites according to their tribal divisions. This casting of lots then is nothing more than a fair way of making decisions that all parties involved would agree to. But to be answering your question. There "IS NOT" any mention of gambling in the Bible. Therefore any answer stating more than "gambling, is not spoken of", is only speculation, assumption, religious doctrine, or personal belief. And our gracious host the Lockman Foundation will not allow us to delve into such discussions, as per the terms we all agreed to. You will have to do the same as others have done, deciding in your own heart, what you personally think God allows. Vintage68 |

35 | what does the bible say about widows? | Ex 22:22 | Vintage68 | 217609
Hi Makarios When you say "Unmarried widows can be married again "- 1 Cor. 7:8-9; 1 Tim. 5:14 Isn't that a given, a widow would be unmarried wouldn't she? Isn't the following the criteria for determining who a widow is? brackets are mine. 1 Tim. 5:9,10,11 9 Let not a widow be taken into the number under threescore years old, (having been the wife of one man), 10 Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints' feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work. 11 But the younger widows refuse: for when they have begun to wax wanton against Christ, they will marry; Blessings to you Vintage68 |

39 | Place where Bible stood still one hour | Joshua | Vintage68 | 215029
Hi BMyers I fully agree, but the answer you gave originally could have been taken differently. Some people may argue that. The Earth is not the center, the Sun is. Others may say, that couldn't have happened because everything would have sailed off into outer space. See what I mean. Just wanted clarification. :-) There is one other point to be made the Moon also stood still, not just the Sun. Vintage68 |

40 | Rahab righteous or not? | Josh 2:4 | Vintage68 | 214676
Hi john "Basically sin is rebellion against God". Don't want to step on any toes here but, the statement made is a misrepresentation of what the "Word" says that sin actually is. 1 John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. Now looking at the law, did she break the law? Matt.22:37,39,40 37. Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 39. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. Romans 2:14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: Well (Matt., and Rom.) answer the question for me. If she was in the same position they were, she would want them to do for her, what she did for them. Then in doing so, she was fulfilling the law even though she did not have the law. She became righteous in her act, and God showed her mercy for that unselfish act. Vintage68 |
