21 | Speaking in Tongue | Acts 2:4 | ItsMe | 160758
I must have grown up in a church or environment that gave tongues a bad image. As an adult I met quite normal people who said they spoke in tongues. So, not to be prejudging I prayed that God would give me that gift if He wanted me to have it. I prayed about it a lot. I never felt that I spoke in a different language. I went on a mission trip to South America 2 years ago. In a large church we were asked if we would give a testimony and I was one ofthe volunteers. We had a wonderful Venezuelan man that traveled with us translating. He translated for the first 2 people that spoke. When I got to the front to speak, I found myself saying "me nobre is maria josefina"...and a lot more. The translator and I looked at each other and he started translating for my English speaking friends. I know that I told the people Jesus Christ was my best friend. I know I told them how lost I was before I met Him. How much God has blessed me. Only in Spanish. And I don't speak Spanish. My friends were amazed. A year later I told a pastor friend in my denomination and he said - God gave you the gift of tongues! He said that our denomination believed that speaking in tongues was when God gave you the gift to speak in another language to someone. I'm not defining it that narrowly though it was not a trivial experience. I was told by someone once that I was praying in another language. They didn't disturb me but that I was defintely not praying in English. So maybe there is a gift of praying just to Him in another special language. I do know I spoke fluent Spanish for quite awhile - and I don't know it still!
22 | What does a crocodile symbolize? | Lev 11:30 | ItsMe | 160720
Some people think the references to “leviathan” (Job 41:1), “behemoth” (Job 40:15, and dragons (many texts) are references to dinosaurs but most Bible scholars suggest that the descriptions in Job are of crocodiles or hippos. Both lived in the Near East in those days. I find no references of crocodiles in the Bible so don't know that they are symbolic of anything.

25 | heaven is perfect but we live on earth | Mark 10:21 | ItsMe | 160688
Being "poor" I can't afford to get my hair done, my nails done, or to be tanned. I make many of my clothes and my girls. That makes me feel good. God always provides what I need to sew. I know to him I am beautiful and this earth can look the other way. I think the money spent making yourself "beautiful" could be spent better.
26 | heaven is perfect but we live on earth | Mark 10:21 | ItsMe | 160687
I agree Doc. I think many of the verses you quoted show us that God is always in control and that anything that hits us - good or bad - comes as He allows. I have a friend suffering from cancer who said just this week, that to have pain and be able to witness for Him was a great joy and He gave her strength. Awesome!
