21 | Types of Fornication(Masturbation) | Matt 15:19 | inmyheart | 107293
Spiritual points about masturbation: 1. Masturbation causes you to be "mastered" by sin: The Bible says that there are only two things that we can be a slave to: sin or righteousness. There are no other masters. Paul wrote, "Do you not know that if you yield yourselves to any one as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness?" (Romans 6:16 NKJV). Which master does masturbation bring us under? In almost every case, it is used to complement lust and the Bible identifies lust as sin in several places. For example, Jesus said in Matthew 5:28, "But I say to you that every one who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart." When you consider that masturbation usually includes thinking about what it would be like to have sex with someone (i.e. lusting) while simulating the physical feeling, its easy to see that it brings us under the master of sin. God does not want people to be mastered by sin. For example, he told Cain, "If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it" (Genesis 4:7 NKJV). Cain let sin rule him by murdering his brother Abel. His life was drastically affected. He lost his job, his peace, his home, and his blessing and spent the rest of his days as a "restless wanderer" (Genesis 4:12). Likewise, we have the same opportunity to choose our master. If we choose sin as our master, our life will bear the fruit that sin brings - i.e. destruction, sorrow, dissatisfaction, death, etc.. If we choose righteousness as our master, we will reap life! Paul wrote: 20When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness. 21What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death! 22But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. 23For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:20-23 NIV 2. Masturbation uses your body as an instrument for sin: Your body is to be presented and used as an instrument for righteousness (not sin). Paul wrote, "Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God" (Romans 6:12-13 NKJV). God can best use us when we keep our "vessels" (body, soul , spirit) free of sin. Paul wrote: "In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay; some are for noble purposes and some for ignoble. If a man cleanses himself from the latter, he will be an instrument for noble purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work. Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart" (2 Timothy 2:20-22 NIV). God bless |

22 | is burning the pages of the bible wrong? | Matthew | inmyheart | 104165
Is burning the blank papers in the back of the bible to roll a joint wrong? Is it a sin? The blank pages of the Bible is the closest you will get to rolling papers! Is it a sin to burn those blank pages, no! It's a sin to smoke that weed that's in that paper. You can burn the Bible, rip it up and throw it as far away as you can, but nobody will be able to destroy the Word of God! This is what Jesus says: Mt:24:35: Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. Jesus said that all the Law and the Prophets hinged on two commandments. These are, to love the Lord our God with all of heart, and all of our minds. The other is to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. "If we will walk in the Love of God we will not fulfill the lust of the flesh". Christ has delivered us from the law of bondage and set us free with the law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus. God Bless P.S Your peers have enough money to buy the weed, but no money to buy rolling paper! That use to be an old jail house trick. Tell your friends too quit pulling your leg and get a life.. IN Christ :) |

25 | Prayer without an Answer??? | John 17:23 | inmyheart | 101779
John 15:7 "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you." Your question is too vague! Be more specific. The above verse makes the statement "If you abide in Me,"- you will be surprised how many will pray, but have no fellowship with God. So when you say "Is the problem on the person' side or somewhere in between???" Fill in what is your relationship with God. God bless |

27 | Purpose Driven Life? | Bible general Archive 2 | inmyheart | 101409
The Purpose Driven Life answers life's question, What on earth am I here for?. For Forty days the Church breaks down to small cell groups (10-15 people) and studies what God says in the Bible about our purpose of why we are here, such as: Purpose 1: You were planned for God's Pleasure. Purpose 2: You were formed for God's Family. Purpose 3: You were created to become life Christ. Purpose 4: You were shaped for serving God. Purpose 5: You were made for a mission. Most people struggle with three basic issues in life. The first is identity: "Whom am I?" The second is importance: "Do I matter?" The third is impact: "What is my place in life?" The answers to all three questions are found in God's five purposes for you. In the Upper Room, as Jesus was concluding His last day of ministry with His disciples, He washed their feet as an example and said, "now that you know these things, you will be bless if you do them." (John 13:17 NIV) Once you know what God wants you to do, the blessing comes in actually doing it. As we come the the end of our forty-day journey together, now that you know God's purpose for your life, you will be blessed if you "do" them! The cell groups remain together after the forty days studying God's Word. The Testimonies of how a persons life has changed are awesome. Pastor Rick Warren is the Pastor of Saddleback Church in Irvine, Ca. I personally had the pleasure of visiting this Church, and believe me this Church is not about money, it's about JESUS! God bless |

30 | How long did Adam and Eve live in Eden? | Gen 3:23 | inmyheart | 89443
We don't know how long Adam and Eve were in the Garden before they had to leave. Sadly, it doesn't seem like they were there for long. There are two clues. First, God commanded them to "be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth" (Genesis 1:28). This means they were to start having a family as soon as possible. And second, we don't read anything about the children of Adam and Eve until after they have left the Garden (Genesis 4:1-2). It takes about nine months for a human baby to develop. So they might have lived in the Garden for less than a year! The rest of the Bible is about God's wanting to get us back. He wants to be able to walk and talk with us just as He did with Adam and Eve in those wonderful days before sin came into the world. Our new home won't be the old Garden of Eden, because that was destroyed in the Flood. Instead, we can look forward to being in heaven where we can live with God forever (Revelation 22:1-5). God Bless |

32 | Functions of the Body of Christ | Bible general Archive 1 | inmyheart | 87074
The Bible describes discipleship as much broader and deeper than the "discipleship" that is often practiced today. Jesus specified in Matthew 28:19-20 that His disciples were to "… go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded." Jesus made it clear that, in addition to presenting the Gospel, making disciples includes teaching believers to observe all that He taught about how to live victoriously. The command to disciple includes all aspects of personal ministry to others. As described and practiced by the writers of Scripture, biblical discipleship involves evangelizing, baptizing, teaching, admonishing, instructing, comforting, encouraging, restoring, strengthening, reproving, rebuking, and exhorting others to follow a biblical pattern of life (based on Matthew 28:19-20; Romans 15:14; II Corinthians 1:4; Galatians 6:1; I Thessalonians 3:2; II Timothy 4:2; Hebrews 10:24). Helping someone to face, deal with, and endure even the most serious of problems or circumstances in a manner that pleases God is not a complicated or mysterious process. It is merely a matter of helping him to walk by the Holy Spirit. The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:16-25). When a person is walking by the Holy Spirit, he has complete victory in dealing with and enduring the tests and trials of life. God bless |

33 | recovery and the bible | Matt 9:12 | inmyheart | 87071
There are many verses of scripture that can be used for addiction, such as Galatians 5:17-20. Are you in recovery? Or are you looking for some encouraging words for a person who is addicted? Please be a little more specific. The Apostle Paul writes: "I do not understand my own behavior; I do not act as I mean to, but I do the things that I hate. Though the will to do what is good is in me, the power to do it is not; the good thing I want to do, I never do; the evil thing which I do not want--that is what I do." Romans 7:14-24. In writing these words, Paul is talking about sin. Theologically, sin is what turns us away from love--away from love for ourselves, away from love for one another, and away from love for God. When I look at this problem psychologically, I see two forces that are responsible: repression and addiction. We all suffer from both repression and addiction. Of the two, repression is by far the milder one. God bless |

34 | How does the church respond to abuse? | Jer 5:31 | inmyheart | 86580
In every culture throughout history, mankind has sought solutions to life's problems. Each generation offers new man-made philosophies and models, but personal and interpersonal problems continue to plaque us. Even in the Body of Christ, there are many other problems resulting in distress, physical abuse, physical illness and immobility. God intends and expect marriage to be a lifetime commitment between a man and a woman, based on the principles of biblical love. The relationship between Jesus Christ and His Church is the supreme example of the committed love that a husband and wife are to follow in their relationship with each other (based on Ecclesiastes 9:9; Malachi 2:14; Matthew 19:3-6; Mark 10:6-9; I Corinthians 13:4-8a; Ephesians 5:21-33). As you continue to be a biblical servant and be a blessing to your spouse (based on Romans 12:9-21; Ephesians 5:21-33; Philippians 2:3-4), you can be assured that God will work all things for good in your relationship with your spouse. No one, not even an unbelieving or unloving or rebellious spouse, can prevent it (based on Romans 8:28-29). God's blessings |

35 | More about the 3rd commandment please? | Bible general Archive 1 | inmyheart | 85543
Matthew 15:1:1 "Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man." Matthew 15:17-20: "Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught? 18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. 19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: 20 These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man." Jesus taught in the Bible that when a man curses or uses profanity it is a sign of evil that was in that man's heart. It is popular today for both men and women to curse. They never think of it as an evil condition in their heart, but rather a small thing that everyone does. These small words of cursing the Bible says, will defile the whole man if they are not repented of and stopped. Cussing and using the name of the Lord in vain causes one to become defiled. Colosians 3:8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. 9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; 10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him." Matthew 5:37: "But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil." If swearing and cursing have been a problem in your life ask the Lord to forgive you and deliver you so that your words may be good and loving words full of grace and truth. He will help you overcome this problem through His power. Matthew 12:34-36: "O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. 35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. 36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment." Psalm 19:14: "Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer." God Bless |

36 | Punishment for the Traitor / Friend? | Ps 55:20 | inmyheart | 84901
Just Read Mark, I answer in part, as the whole context would take too much space: David prays for God’s help in a time of trouble. We are not given in this psalm, or in the inscription, the occasion that prompted these prayers, but we know that at the root of the trouble was the betrayal of a close friend. This would suggest that the occasion of the psalm was when David’s trusted counsellor, Ahithophel, betrayed David and joined with Absalom, David’s own son, in rebellion (see II Sam. 15:12). When we encounter passages in the Bible about betrayal, we should pay special attention, for there is a great possibility that the passages contain a prophetic reference to Judas’s betrayal of Jesus, since "the volume of the book" is about our Lord Jesus Christ. David is convinced of the bloodguiltiness of his foes, their treachery amplified by their feigned friendship: "My companion attacks his friends; he violates his covenant. His speech is smooth as butter, yet war is in his heart; his words are more soothing than oil, yet they are drawn swords" (vss. 20-21). The contrast between David’s own righteous behavior in the situation versus the wickedness of his foes convinces David that God will take his part: "Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous fall. But You, O God, will bring down the wicked into the pit of corruption; bloodthirsty and deceitful men will not live out half their days. But as for me, I trust in You" (vss. 22-23). Oh, praise be to God that we can "cast our cares on the Lord." May we ever fervently seek Him in times of trouble. May we walk in His ways, and not be corrupted by the sins of the wicked who battle against us, so that in righteousness we can seek His help, and trust in Him for deliverance! God bless |

38 | Family Values Acts 18, where?? | NT general Archive 1 | inmyheart | 84746
Here is some added info for Aquila and Priscilla: In the Acts 18 passage we read together, Aquila and Priscilla are an example of a marriage partnership which glorifies God. Aquila and Priscilla are always mentioned together - three times in scripture as Aquila and Priscilla - three times as Priscilla and Aquila - neither is placed on a higher pedestal and always together - a shared partnership. They were one in their relationship with Jesus Christ - knowing Him personally as their Savior - and all they accomplished together in the name of the Lord was the result of that unity of spirit and purpose. Both were Jews from Asia Minor - they share a common ancestry, culture, language, and background. They were originally from Pontus - and had been driven from their home by an edict of Claudius against the Jews. And so at the time of the Acts 18 account they are living in Corinth. Together they own a small tentmaking business sharing equally in the duties of their business. And, as with all aspects of their marriage, they were in the tent business first of all, for the glory of God. The tents are made of goat’s hair, sewn together with thread, seamed together - quality workmanship - and those who come to their shop - their customers - know them as honest and fair in their dealings. The Apostle Paul first met Aquila and Priscilla when he came to Corinth from Athens. For 18 months Paul lived in their home. Often we hear that "Paul was a tentmaker, while he preached in Corinth." It was in Aquila and Priscilla’s tent shop that he worked. Imagine - when they were not preaching and teaching - Paul, Aquila, and Priscilla sitting together - and as they plied their needles, fashioning or repairing tents - they shared their lives and faith. And anyone who came into that shop would hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ - and would see the reality of the Gospel demonstrated in their relationship together - their love for each other - and in the way they dealt with their customers. Aquila and Priscilla are partners together in ministry. They have opened up their home to be used for God’s glory - the church of Corinth meets and worships in there. Together they had a powerful impact on the life of Apollos. Remember Apollos? Apollos is the one who Paul refers to when he says, "I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth." (1 Corinthians 3:6) Apollos came to Corinth from Alexandria. He was well educated, cultured, and a powerful orator. But, with all his brilliance and eloquence, when Apollos first came to Corinth, he only knew part of the Gospel - the first part -the teaching of John the Baptist. What he was preaching was not in error - it was just incomplete. It was Aquila and Priscilla who took Apollos aside and shared with him the larger truth of redemption - the reality of salvation through Jesus Christ - crucified and alive. The result was Apollos’ powerful ministry - so dynamic that some in Corinth gave him higher regard than Paul and Peter. But, all that Apollos became he owed, under God, to the quiet instruction - the discipleship - of Aquila and Priscilla. Aquila and Priscilla had a tremendous part in the ministry of the Apostle Paul. When Paul left Corinth for Ephesus - they went with him. There they joined him in his ministry. During the great riots in Ephesus, Aquila and Priscilla risked their own lives to save Paul’s life. Later, they followed Paul to Rome and joined him in ministry there. Where would the ministry of Apollos have been, what would the ministry of Paul have been like - what if he had been martyred in Ephesus - only God knows how many were saved spiritually - how significant was the ministry of Aquila and Priscilla. The history of Christianity is filled with humble men and women like Aquila and Priscilla - inconspicuously working behind the scenes - focused on serving God - bringing glory to Him and not themselves. God bless |

39 | How do I answer my children? | Bible general Archive 1 | inmyheart | 84072
Greetings You stated "If a person believes that Jesus is our Savior but is obnoxious do they go to heaven, but a person who takes great care of family and little children and does good works all day long for the school, library and comunity but does not believe....is going to hell? How must I answer my children? They say that penicillin is a wonder drug, a great antibiotic, but if you have cancer, it is worthless! You can be the best person in the community, but without Jesus, His sacrifice and shedding of His blood, that person is a lost soul. However, that drunk or that drug addicted person who ripped and robbed everyone they met and were the scum of the earth, when that person responded to the call of the Lord and recieved Jesus as Lord and Savior...their sins, though many...are forgiven and their names are written in the book of life! Also John 3:5-7 How must I answer my children you say...how about through your actions, your testimony, your love and prayers for them, that's one way of doing it. "For the unbelieving husband has been sanctified through his wife, and the unbelieving wife has been sanctified through her believing husband. Otherwise your childre would be unclean, but as it is, the are holy." 1 Corinthians 7:14 God bless you, He really loves you and He will be faithful to your prayers. You do what you can and He will do what you can't do. God bless |

40 | believe in god and not have salvation | James 2:19 | inmyheart | 84071
Greetings I forward these verses in response to your question: Rom 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, Rom 1:19 because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. Rom 1:20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. Rom 1:21 For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Rom 1:22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, Rom 1:23 and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures. Rom 1:24 Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them. Rom 1:25 For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. (NASB) God bless |
