21 | Elusive Verse | 1 Cor 12:27 | Shythiyl | 166742
Well, I've never heard it put quite like that, but I guess it could be. You must be refering to the feference to the Church as the body of Christ. 1Co 12:27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. The Amplified bible (see verse above post) puts it quiet clearly Also check out Romans 7:4; 1 Corinthians 10:16; 12:27; Ephesians 4:12; When I see two Christians bickering, I often picture the hand slaping the foot because it is uglier, or the fingers lower rating the toes for being short and stubby. |

22 | motive or love? | 1 Cor 13:1 | Shythiyl | 167619
Are we really to have motive? Motive is something (as a need or desire) that causes a person to act. I should think that love itself is motive. Without love, religion is worthless. I think you may be asking is a Christian supposed to have a reason to love. We love because we are loved. Not that we are nessisarily loved by those we are to love, but because God first loved us. We are no more deserving of the love of God, than the most vile and wretched individual we are to love. It is hard for us to love those whom we dislike. We are not asked to love their ways, only the person. God loves the sinner, not the sin. Jesus did not come for the sake of the saved, but the unsaved. Nowhere does scripture say that it is easy to be a Christian. The world hated Jesus. It will also hate us, but we are not of the world. |

23 | Can anyone speak in tonges | 1 Cor 13:1 | Shythiyl | 167624
Tongues, just like preaching/teaching, is a gift. All do not posess the same gifts. We are told to pray for certin gifts, yet we do not always pray for what we should.
24 | Gross or Net Income/ | 2 Cor 9:6 | Shythiyl | 165440
When I had my own business, money was plentiful. I chose to tithe my gross. Now that I am have closed it and am working for someone else, naturally there is not so much money coming in. Scripture says that we are to tithe all our "gains." Gross is not 100 percent gains. Net is. Keep in mind though, that if one gets an Income Tax refund, that is a gain if the Net was tithed. If the Gross was tithed, it is not. I often tithed every cent that came in. I did not care to penny pinch. I later changed that, and am just as blessed as ever, if not more so. Whatever is from the heart, is what God is interested in. Not the fulfilment of legalistic obligation. No doubt many sill disagree, but I would ask them? "Where does scripture say that we are to tithe anything other than gain?" |

25 | Is it possible to love God as commanded? | Gal 3:24 | Shythiyl | 167306
Remember the mustard seed? Have you that much faith?
26 | Is Satan in heaven or on earth right now | Eph 6:12 | Shythiyl | 166746
Well, he most assuredly is not in heaven. I believe he is accoustomed to a much hotter climate, and God has no desire for his company, but is Satan on earth? I think not. Physically anyway. His influences most assuredly are though. I can't think of any, but I would like to see if any can provide scripture contrary to my statement. |

27 | Confronting another about sin | 1 Tim 5:14 | Shythiyl | 165468
You may wish first to explain to her, what scripture states concerning divorce. That if she were to leave her husband and marry another, for any reason other than stated in scripture, she and her new mate would be commiting adultry. You are in a very delicate situation, and would be wise to seek the advise and assistance of your pastor, or another mature and respected brother/sister. It may be better for someone other than yourself to handle the situation. This is not uncommon in a male/female situation such as that which you depict. I was in such a situation once. My wife straightened it out in a very Christian like manor. I realized that I had been very naive. What a lesson I learned! As to the verse I have chosen, I refer to the portion of KJ translation. "give none occasion to the adversary." You have unwittingly become the adversary, or opponent of her husband, and in her mind at least, she has given you every occasion. Perhaps I have chosen a poor verse in reference to the particular situation, but I only refer tp the portion "give none occasion to the adversary." |

28 | Interlinear Bibles | 2 Tim 2:15 | Shythiyl | 165871
You may wish to do a "Google" search. I don't know about a particular websight, but I bought one many years ago. I found it a valuable resource. Though I have many "physical" study sources, I am an "electronics junkie, as my son puts it." I find it much easier to use the computer, and have tons of resources there including Hebrew, Greek and English sources. When I gave my Interlinear to a brother, I missed it dreadfully. I paid quite a bit more for my second one, which had Strong numbers in addition. I find it that much more usefull, but I really don't like it in the modern KJ. I prefer NIV to the Kings English. |

29 | long term mixture of faith and unbelief? | James 1:15 | Shythiyl | 166075
Do you have faith that unbelievers will spend eternity in Hell fire and damnation due to their unbelief? This seems a harsh answer, but it is true. Just exactly what is your unbelief? Is it that God exists, that His Son died to pay the penalty for the sins of those such as yourself and me? Could it be you find it hard to believe that a loving and merciful God would allow pain and misery, or that He would allow someone to spend eternity in damnation for spawning His Sons sin payment? Faith and unbelief are comprable to water and oil. Either you believe, or you don't. Either you don't, or you do. Which is it? Could it possiably be that you believe, yet you can't imagine personal forgiveness because you know the vile wickedness of your sinful way? |

30 | How do you guys fight temptation? | James 5:16 | Shythiyl | 165739
1Co 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. The fact that one is tempted is not the sin. The resulting actions determing that. If you allow yourself to dwell on what you know to be sin, will turn the key and let the tempter in. Scripture states "be carefull what you see and hear." When I was in the service over thirty years ago, I finally gave in and allowed myself to watch the filth and porn flicks that everyone else was watching. Thirty years later, those scenes are still in my minds eye. I would never have known that many evils existed, had I not given in to, not the temptation, for I was repulsed, but the peer pressure. |
