21 | David multiple wives, a life time of sin | Acts 13:22 | Shythiyl | 165894
Woe... Wait a minute. Perhaps I have misunderstood you. I may have overlooked something here, but I do not remember David, or any "important Christian role model" just living with a woman. "ALL HAVE SINNED AND COME SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD. THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NO NOT ONE." Can we not see the fact that even one who is after the very heart of God, is less than peerfect? Does this not attest to the fact that Christians too, are less than what an onlooker may consider perfect? A Christian is supposed to set a godly example. David, a man after Gods own heart often set poor examples. First of all; A woman is not a wife, if the man is just "living" with that woman. Davids only adultry was with Bathsheba, prior to his having her husband murdered because he refused to sleep with her while his fellow soldiers were sleeping under the stars without such comfort. David was attempting to cover his sin. Then, to avoid the public shame they would both have suffered, he had her husband murdered so he could marry her. This is why the Lord chose to take the child who was concieved in David's and Bathsheba's sin. I believe you may be refering to Davids "concubines." Webster defines concubine : a woman with whom a man cohabits without being married: as a : one having a recognized social status in a household below that of a wife b : MISTRESS Again, I may be wrong (I am sure someone will correct me and provide scriptural foundation for their correction if I am,)but I do not remember David having any concubines. In my particular corner of this world, such a woman is known as a "shack up." In such a case, there would be no such thing as divorce. I guess each simply goes their own way.. There is much which can be learned from the life of one such as David. First of all, if you allow yourself to look on a woman in lust.... Watch out... Second, one seemingly small sin (lustful gazing,) tends to lead to something larger. In Davids case, adultry, then murder. Finally there is the wages of sin. Look at the comparrison of David's sins to those of his children. Davids first sin was adultry. Amnon, Davids son raped his half sister, Tamar. Davids next sin was murder. Tamars blood brother, Absalom murdered his half brother who had raped his sister. (David, being King, should have pronounced punishment on Amnon for his horendus crime. His failure led to his other sons becoming a murderer, and nearly becoming king in his place.) What kind of examples do we set? Are we any less saved because of our poor examples? Right on down to the third and fourth generation, How many of our sins will our children pay for? |

22 | Interlinear Bibles | 2 Tim 2:15 | Shythiyl | 165871
You may wish to do a "Google" search. I don't know about a particular websight, but I bought one many years ago. I found it a valuable resource. Though I have many "physical" study sources, I am an "electronics junkie, as my son puts it." I find it much easier to use the computer, and have tons of resources there including Hebrew, Greek and English sources. When I gave my Interlinear to a brother, I missed it dreadfully. I paid quite a bit more for my second one, which had Strong numbers in addition. I find it that much more usefull, but I really don't like it in the modern KJ. I prefer NIV to the Kings English. |

23 | How do you guys fight temptation? | James 5:16 | Shythiyl | 165739
1Co 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. The fact that one is tempted is not the sin. The resulting actions determing that. If you allow yourself to dwell on what you know to be sin, will turn the key and let the tempter in. Scripture states "be carefull what you see and hear." When I was in the service over thirty years ago, I finally gave in and allowed myself to watch the filth and porn flicks that everyone else was watching. Thirty years later, those scenes are still in my minds eye. I would never have known that many evils existed, had I not given in to, not the temptation, for I was repulsed, but the peer pressure. |

24 | USA ATTACKS | Matt 24:6 | Shythiyl | 165737
Such is anyones guess. I do not believe there are any fortune tellers or seers in this forum though. Armageddon wil not come prior to the rapture, so if you are a Christian, the only thing you should concern yourself with on that account, is the spiritual welfare (salvation) of your friends, neighbors and loved ones. Are you prepairing them? |

25 | see to let you know the end is near ? | Matt 24:6 | Shythiyl | 165736
10 signs that today is the day of the end times. 1) KNOWLEDGE Dan 12:4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased. What were the primary methods of transportation from times prior to Christ to the late 1800's? In the last hundred years or so, what has happened in the transportation industry? 2) THE NEUCULAR AGE Zec 14:12 And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth. Could this not discribe what happens to the human body in a neucular holicost? 3) ISRAEL BECAME A NATION IN 1948. Mat 24:32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: Mat 24:33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. Mat 24:34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. 4) SCOFFERS. 2Pe 3:3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, If you have ever followed a thread on one of these boards, you have witnessed this sign. 5) THE GATHERING OF THE JEWS Jer 23:7 Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that they shall no more say, The LORD liveth, which brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt; Jer 23:8 But, The LORD liveth, which brought up and which led the seed of the house of Israel out of the north country,(THE JEWS HAVE BEEN MIGRATING BACK TO ISRAEL FROM RUSSIA WHICH IS TO THEIR NORTH) and from all countries whither I had driven them; and they shall dwell in their own land. This was in the news a few short years ago. THE JEWS ARE NO LONGER GENTILE RULE 6) Luk 21:24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled. Psa 102:16 When the LORD shall build up Zion, he shall appear in his glory. 7) THE INVENTION OF INTERNATIONAL TELEVISION. Rev 11:9 And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations (ALL NATIONS) shall see their dead bodies three days and a half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves. Rev 11:10 And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth. 8) Famines and pestilences. The US could feed the world. Mat 24:7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. Mar 13:8 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows. Luk 21:11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven. 9) Secular Humanism Mat 24:4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. 10) Today Mat 24:37 But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Don't get me wrong. I am not crying "the sky is falling...,) nor that the end is truly near, (which I personally feel that it is.) I am simply presenting what scripture states and compairing it with the times. Yes, such things have been said throughout history. Don't you believe though, that one day, he who states "the end is near" will be stating a fact? |

26 | Is God Violent? | Bible general Archive 3 | Shythiyl | 165699
Atrocities? No doubt the righteous judgements of the Creator might seem such to a sinner, or babe in Christ, but... Would the pot call the hands of the potter, dirty? He is the potter. We are the clay. If He should utterly distroy us, who are we, what are we? Would such distruction be atrocious? If man ever managed to create "andriods" such as is depicted in Science Fiction, and those droids were to rebel, would their distruction be atrocious? Would man be gracious enough to put up with their rebellion for thousands of years? Would you be able to send your one and only son to them, watch them torture and murder him, then allow them to continue their vile existance? In His "loving grace and mercy", He has. |

27 | Jesus comitted a suicide ? | Matt 16:21 | Shythiyl | 165518
See my other note in this thread. If making statements based on ignorance is lying, then you are lying. Ignorance is not a sin. It is not even shameful. Not doing anything about it, is both. A forum such as this is good for those who can discern the thoughts of others in light of scripture, but it is not a place for one to seek an antidote for ignorance, rather it is more often it is a place to flaunt it. Scripture alone provides such an antidote. |

28 | Did my dad go to heaven or hell? | Matt 18:3 | Shythiyl | 165471
Your statement " I do not know that he was saved" tells it all. No one knows what may or may not have gone on in your Dads head prior to his death. And no one can answer your question. Hopefully... well, you know what I mean. As to some comforting scripture, anyone can copy and paste till they are blue in the face, but though what they paste may mean much to them, you may not come the same understanding. I would recommend you simply turn to Gods Word for yourself. What you read may not currently pertain to what yoru heart desires, but rest assurred, if you stay in it long enough, you will get the answers you currently seek. God Bless. |

29 | Confronting another about sin | 1 Tim 5:14 | Shythiyl | 165468
You may wish first to explain to her, what scripture states concerning divorce. That if she were to leave her husband and marry another, for any reason other than stated in scripture, she and her new mate would be commiting adultry. You are in a very delicate situation, and would be wise to seek the advise and assistance of your pastor, or another mature and respected brother/sister. It may be better for someone other than yourself to handle the situation. This is not uncommon in a male/female situation such as that which you depict. I was in such a situation once. My wife straightened it out in a very Christian like manor. I realized that I had been very naive. What a lesson I learned! As to the verse I have chosen, I refer to the portion of KJ translation. "give none occasion to the adversary." You have unwittingly become the adversary, or opponent of her husband, and in her mind at least, she has given you every occasion. Perhaps I have chosen a poor verse in reference to the particular situation, but I only refer tp the portion "give none occasion to the adversary." |

30 | Gross or Net Income/ | 2 Cor 9:6 | Shythiyl | 165440
When I had my own business, money was plentiful. I chose to tithe my gross. Now that I am have closed it and am working for someone else, naturally there is not so much money coming in. Scripture says that we are to tithe all our "gains." Gross is not 100 percent gains. Net is. Keep in mind though, that if one gets an Income Tax refund, that is a gain if the Net was tithed. If the Gross was tithed, it is not. I often tithed every cent that came in. I did not care to penny pinch. I later changed that, and am just as blessed as ever, if not more so. Whatever is from the heart, is what God is interested in. Not the fulfilment of legalistic obligation. No doubt many sill disagree, but I would ask them? "Where does scripture say that we are to tithe anything other than gain?" |
