23 | Understanding the Trinity | John 1:1 | Noveta | 161026
I am a believer of the trinity. However, I do not understand how this is an explaination of the trinity. When I read these scriptures I understand that God is God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. I know these are important men in the scripture that signify very important events. But can you explain to me how you interpret this as saying "I am the God of three persons" in relation to how you define the trinity. The trinity means to me "God in three persons" Isn't GOD the GOD of many who believe? The trinity is always coming up for debate. So I would like to have a response in case it is asked of me. Thank you very much. |

24 | Sick for 38 years | John 5:7 | Noveta | 177204
One of the things that is a Christian's biggest challenge is proving that the bible is embedded in real history. That it really happen, but some of the stories seem so hard to believe or shall i say prove. I believe in the bible and I believe it is the word of GOD, I want to beable to support every aspect of it correctly or as best I can to any non-believer. For example, John 5 says "1Afterward Jesus returned to Jerusalem for one of the Jewish holy days. 2Inside the city, near the Sheep Gate, was the pool of Bethesda,[a] with five covered porches. 3Crowds of sick people--blind, lame, or paralyzed--lay on the porches.[b] 5One of the men lying there had been sick for thirty-eight years. 6When Jesus saw him and knew how long he had been ill, he asked him, "Would you like to get well?" How can some be lying there 38 years? That doesn't seem like reality. How can you explain that to someone? God Bless and thanks in advance for your comments. |

25 | John 10:31 | John 10:31 | Noveta | 163017
Hello everyone, I am have tried to search before asking this question, but am not successful. I am reading the book of John and in Chapter 10. I would like someone to explain to me what does it mean to blaspheme. From what I have found, if you disrespect or break any of the laws of the ten commandments or if you have disrespected the Holy spirit? However in John 10:31 they are accusing Jesus to blaspheme because he is saying he is God and he is God's son correct? . 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. 30 I and my Father are one. 31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him. 32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? 33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God. 34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? 35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken; 36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God? 37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. 38 But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him. Also, I do not understand Jesus response, "Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? 35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken" What does he mean, written in your law,Ye are gods? God bless Novie |

27 | One universal religion | Acts 4:12 | Noveta | 129897
My pastor mentioned, God never intended for us to have one universal religion. Is there any scripture that supports this. |

28 | A well balanced church | Rom 16:17 | Noveta | 132909
I have been searching for a well balanced church for years. Right now I am attending a baptist church. I have studied many religions and I am trying to stay with a church that believes in essential Christian doctrine, like the trinity, bodily resurrection ..etc. I thought I found a church, in fact, I still think this church is a good church. But what if the pastor supports another pastor that you know does not believe in essential Christian doctrine. Should this be something that I concern myself with. No man is perfect, not even a pastor. I know the bible has rules for a church leader. Right? The pastor he is supporting is a word of faith pastor who clearly doesn't believe in the trinity. |

29 | One God, One Jesus Christ | 1 Cor 8:5 | Noveta | 130218
I found this question in the post. It was not answered.. Or I did not see one. Can I please get a response for this? Do you ridicule the apostle Paul? 1 Cor 8:5,6 states: "For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as indeed there are many "gods" and many "lords"), yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live." There is only one God (with a capital G) the Father Jehovah. |

30 | Jesus in the beginning | 1 Cor 8:5 | Noveta | 130292
Tara, I am a little confused.. Why are you adding words. The bible doesn't say “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with the Trinity, and the Word was the Trinity. The same was in the beginning with the Trinity.” In context John 1:1,2 is explaining who Jesus is .. 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. There are other scriptures that point out the Father is God and the Holy Spirit is God. The word trinity is not in the bible.. It is a word that has a meaning and is a coalition of many scriptures found in the bible. We are finite, God is infinite.. why are you trying to calculate what the Bible is simply telling you.. What is the difference between the beginning in Genesis 1 and John 1 Genesis 1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. I was neglecting responding to you because you read a different Bible, which gives a different meaning, but I need to ask this question. |

31 | Jehovah is the only true God | 1 Cor 8:5 | Noveta | 130876
I am only responding to this thread because of the wonderful list of scriptures you have quoted. I think the only way to prevent Tara from posting is to NOT respond to her post. However, I will like to digress and study the scripture so that it feeds my soul. When I read these scriptures, that you have posted, I understand that Jehovah is the only God. It does say that the Devil is the god of this world. (2 Cor. 4: 4; Jn. 12: 31) But that is only because people have fallen prey to worshipping him. Like mentioning in the other posts many things are gods (money, people). They are gods because they are worshipped. They are gods because they or it has influenced people not to follow the only true God's commandments. In other words, instead of following God's commandments, they choose otherwise. If you want to know and follow the only true God ..then you must follow Jehovah..He can strenghten you. No other gods can make your stronger. Money will not make you stronger. The devil will not make you stronger. for he says: Is. 45:5 - "I am the LORD, and there is no other; apart from me there is no God...I will strengthen you, though you have not acknowledged me," This my interpretation..Have I interpreted it correctly? |

32 | Jehovah is the only true God | 1 Cor 8:5 | Noveta | 130904
I don't understand what you are trying to say.. for he says.. Is just me typing.. Excuse me for not spell checking.. He is GOD ..the only true saying Is. 45:5 - "I am the LORD, and there is no other; apart from me there is no God...I will strengthen you, though you have not acknowledged me," What are you implying.. When I asked if Have I intepreted it correctly. This is a christian forum.. I am a new christian ..I just want some confirmation from my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.?? |

33 | Correction | 1 Cor 8:5 | Noveta | 130920
I see when you read something you are very detailed. You can really Intimidate a new christian.. It is so hard for me to find someone that understands what I am trying to say. Being married to a JW.. it is really heard for me to find a place to express my what I am learning.. He corrects me the same way you correct me. I feel like I am taking a test.. When I spoke of the Devil I think it was before I said he says.. Is it okay to switch topics in one post ??? Why would did you point my switch in thought.. Does that imply something? However, thanks for you post. I try to learn from everyone and no one is perfect. Sometimes when you think you are in common thought ..you assume that they get the idea.. However, this is very serious.. Maybe I should stop posting for a while.. Or Maybe just continue to ask questions with out comments. |

34 | God's truth | 1 Cor 8:5 | Noveta | 130967
Thanks so much everyone. This is great christian fellowship. I am learning so much. I really feel encouraged. I don't feel as alone anymore! The past couple of days I have been able to understand the plan Gods has for me. I have been able to answer my husband's questions to the point he has to go and ask his elders questions in order to clarify what i have told him. Usually he comes back with the usual programmed responses. Also, my kids have told me they love Jesus. I feel so great. God has truly helped me in so many ways. I feel so blessed that God's truth is being revealed to me. I can do all things through Christ who strenghtens me. This is the first verse I have memorized!!! Thanks |

38 | Not normal | 2 Tim 2:22 | Noveta | 162292
Hello, I would like to know how angst33 has been doing in this area. I know someone who is addicted too pornography and it is destroying their marriage. They are about to get a divorce because of it. They once asked me how do you convince someone that pornography is not normal. How do they approach this in a biblical way so that it will save their marriage and the person that is addicted. If the person refuses to confront the issue or talk to any one in the church. |

39 | GOD gives Jesus the power to save? | Heb 7:25 | Noveta | 151497
I was reading some commentaries on the bible and it stated "He is the only man who is now the Mediator between God and mankind (1 Tim. 2:5). It is Jesus Christ to whom God has given the power to “save to the uttermost” all who call upon his name, because he ever lives to make intercession for us (Heb. 7:25)." I believe that Jesus is GOD. For the most part I have many scriptures that support it. However, I sometimes run across some that I need explanation. For example the above one says GOD gave the power to save. Is this a correct commentary to say GOD gave Jesus. Since Jesus is GOD how is he given the power to save? I thought he always had that power. There were just many prophecies that need to be fulfilled before it was "actualized". Noveta |

40 | How does Hebrews 10:26 fit my problem | Heb 10:26 | Noveta | 174215
Please someone help me. I am having marriage problems. When I spoke to my Pastor he directed me to Hebrews 10:26. Was he telling me that I am deliberately sinning. Why would the Pastor point me to this scripture because I feel like my husband is having an affair? He also pointed me to Psalms 139. It was like he was telling me I wasn't being open and honest. If you go to someone and they point you to that scripture, what are they telling you? |
