Hi, Moses brought down the 10 commandments [Exodus20] and the Laws as enumerated in Exodus21 more than 2000 years ago.Living conditions, life style, human behavior and etc, etc.have since changed considerably. Thus, how relevant are these Laws to the present time? Maybe, some of these can be considered as obsolete! Your comments, please. With Love in Christ. FytRobert |

Hi Emmaus, Thank you for your response to my question which is appended hereunder for ease of reference. "Moses brought down the 10 commandments[Exodus20] and the Laws as enumerated in Exodus 21 more than 2000 years ago.Living conditions, life style, human behavour and etc,etc have since changed considerably. Thus, how relevant are these Laws to the present time? Maybe some of these can be considered obsolete!" Repeat- some of the Laws only!To illustrate my point, I quote a couple of examples: 1.Exodus21:15 Anyone who attacks his father or mother must be put to death. 2.21:16 Anyone who kidnaps another-----must be put to death. 3.21:17 Anyone who curseshis father or mother must be put to death. Are these Laws still relevant to present time? Your comments are invited. With love in Christ. FytRobert |

Hi Emmaus, Thanks for your prompt reply but regretably, you are off the mark.In my question, there is no inkling at all as to whether God has changed His mind.My question was simple and direct. Are some of the Laws which were pronounced 2000 years plus ago are still relevant to-day? With your vast knowledge of the Bible and of the world, I am inclined to believe that you will be able to throw some light on this matter. With love in Christ. FytRobert |

Hi Aixen7z4, LOVE is a very very powerful word, if not the most powerful word in the dictionary.lOVE encompasses everything that is spiritually, legally and morally good. When there is love in our hearts, minds and souls our actions respond to the goodness and dictates of our hearts. When there is love ,anger and hatred-the greatest enemies of mankind-are absent and anything that opposes to love will disappear. Having expounded the power of love, I now refer to your recent response and give an excerpt of the part on which I wish to comment. You said "What if we abolished all the old commandments and just kept two "love God" and "Love one another" Would you be in favour of that? That would keep us killing and stealing obviously, but also from adultery and envy" With spiritual love in our hearts the question of whether we are in favour of abolishing the old commandments does not arise and kept two i.e. 1.Love God. 2. Love one another. A big yes to these. If we comply with just these two commandments and live our lives accordingly,we shall be on good ground and when the time comes we shall be on our way to our desired final destination--Heaven With love in Christ. Hi Ajxen7z4 This is a belated "Thank you" for having come to my rescue.I would have thought that by the manner and fashion I spelt out my comment especially in connection with the 2 commandments under discussion, it was obvious that I was in a zestful mood and my mind at that time was wishful too. However, I now realised that I had inadvertenly caused a couple of persons to feel hot in the collar though to cause unpleasantness was never in my mind.Nevertheless, I tender herewith my apologies. By the way, what was in Jesus mind when He said "All the law and the prophets hang on to these two commandments" Mat.22:40 refers. With love in Christ. FytRobert |

Hi Pastor Glenn, Thanks for your prompt and excellent answear as commented by Makarios but unfortunately, I am still unable to draw a conclusion. Did Elijah and Enoch go up into heaven, if not, where did God take them to? Bearing in mind of what Jesus said in John3:13."....no one has ever gone into heaven.." Your comments will no doubt ease my mind. With love in Christ FytRobert |

Hi Makarios, I note with appreciation your helpful and lengthy answear. However,in order to get to the gist of it I have to delete the frills, why and how. You said: [1]"Both Enoch and Elijah experienced being taken up into heaven alive by God". [2]"Therefore, no other man but Jesus could truthfully attribute to Himself the words that Jesus spoke of Himself in John3:13" [3]"Therefore, is there a contradiction between John3:13 and with what happened to Enoch and Elijah? No, there is not" My comments are: [1] You have admittedly said that both Enoch and Elijah were taken up to heaven alive by God. [2]In John 3:13 there are two parts: a."No one has ever gone into heaven"[no human being] b."Except the one who came down from heaven- the son of man" In the first part, viz.[a]above, Jesus was making a statement of truth. whilst in the secong part, viz,[b]Jesus was referring to Himself as you have said so. It would appear that your conclusion,viz[3]above is not being supported by the above analysis. However, I would invite you to comment further. with love in Christ. FytRobert |

Hi Tim Moran, My mind is very much at ease now and receptive to your concise and direct approach to the subject. Your statement:"So, I would say that untilChrist was resurrected,no one went to Heaven, not even Elijah and Enoch." has brought back my earlier question to my mind,"...where did God take them[Enoch andElijah] to?" Perhaps, God had taken them to another world which is far and beyond and which has yet to be discovered by the human race. Is this a possibility? With love in Christ. FytRobert |

Hi Tim Moran, Thanks for your comments which have triggered my mind to ask the following questions. First and foremost, where is hades and how does the soul know the way to hades after death? In view of what Jesus said in John3:13"No man has ever gone into Heaven" you speculated by saying that both Elijah and Enoch went to hades. But hades is a temporary waiting place reserved for souls of dead persons only. So, my dear Tim, are we not in a dilemma? I also infer from your comments that the O,T. Saints in hades were taken up by Christ to be with the Lord.Does this mean that the paradise side of hades is now empty and closed? If this is so,the righteous believers now will be with the Lord immediately after death? And if this is so,then the big judgement day is meant for the unbelievers only? Trusting that you will oblige again by forwarding your comments. With love in Christ. FytRobert |

Hi, Nowadays, throughout the world, itis not uncommon to read reports that christians, muslims, jews, buddhists and hindus are coming together to offer prayers for peace and tolerance. Two years ago, such a gathering was unthinkable. 1.Does this mean that ultimately all re- ligions lead to the one and same God? 2.Or,does this mean that every religion has it's own God but they have come to terms to respect and recognise each other's God? Your comments, please. With love in Christ. FytRobert |

Hi CDBJ, Thanks for your response but regretably you have chosen to comment on my salutation instead of an- swearing the questions.Looking at your personal profile,I am sure you are more than able to understand my questions and I am eagerly looking forward to your comments. Hi CDBJ, I appreciate your prompt reply with a few quotations from the Bible.Though the urge inside me was to immediately air my views on the few points mentioned by you, I was unable to do so until now due to time constraint. I feel that animosity was present in your reply; appended below are just two excerpts and my comments: 1 You said:"With a point system the only one impressed is the one cranking out the points not a Holy God." My comments:Before I read your reply I believe my mind was in a state of peace , happiness and always looking forward to make progress in my studies of the truth. But now after digesting all that you have so kindly imparted,I am not so sure of my own mind-is it still stable or going the cranky way? 2.You said:"The reason that I commented on your salutation was because it was the only part of your question that wasn't contrary to Scripture. If possibly your method of being in Christ happened to follow the same line as your question then there would be another issue that should be addressed." My comments:My innocent question was judged to be contrary to Scripture and I was harshly admonished. Now my salutation is under suspect. What comes next? I am envious of you that God has guided you well to acquire a very sound knowledge of the Bible. As for me,my hunger for God's precios Words was insatiable but now I am having second thought.Because if I were to be too well versed in God's Words I might suffer the consequential tendency or inclination to be critical and confrontational instead of extending a helpful hand to guide those who are not so fortunate to be well versed in the Words of our Lord. If my innocent question posted on7-4-04 has caused you to feel the way you have demonstrated yourself in words, I tender my appologies herewith and I would take this opportunity to assure you that there was no intention what so ever to cause ill feeling except to seek guidance. |
