202 | is water-baptism needed for salvation? | Eph 2:8 | lionheart | 223888
Good day to all, This has been an oft discussed subject here on SBF in the past. Our salvation is the most precious thing we possess, It is Gods greatest and most precious gift to us. If our focus is on God and His Word we will see what saves and what doesn't. God doesn't make it a mystery to those who truly seek him. We can't allow doctrinal bias or preconceived ideas to cloud our vision, instead as 2 Timothy 2:15 states study to show ourself aproved unto God a workman that need not be ashamed rightly dividing the word of truth. It's all there for us. Are we willing to allow God and His Word to speak and then do what it says. I can say this, if we do we won't be disappointed. In Him, lionheart |

Beja, Dear brother thank you for you calm and even handed approach to this issue. Again I'll state that we cant go wrong when the structure and framework of our faith and believing is based on sound application of God's Word. A couple of scriptures here that also add clarity to this subject. Ro 8:1-4 and Heb 7:16 Our Lord met the righteous requirement of the law. In Him, lionheart |

207 | Is there always the evidence of tongues? | Acts | lionheart | 223334
Az, Hey sis. We will never go wrong when we guide people to the Word. This has been such an emotional and at times insanely diversive issue. People wind up not seeing the forest for all the tree's. When we get right to it it's about our salvation and the Bible tells us what we get and what we don't. Acts chapter 2 spells it out quite well. In Him, lionheart |

210 | Is James 4:3 completely true? | James 4:3 | lionheart | 223293
Ariel, Its a good 2 cents to add my friend. It's so easy for people to put God in a box and then when God doesn't answer the way they think he should they will get upset. The truth be told God hears and answers prayer every time. We should be grateful to God that he doesn't always answer the way we expect. What we should consider is how Gods supplies our need. Phil 4:19. In Him, lionheart |

212 | Who to follow? Jesus or Moses | Matt 5:17 | lionheart | 223289
Inquisitor, I wasn't necessarily referring to you but what goes on frequently. May I refer to Ro 15:4 tells us how earlier scriptures (That would include OT and OT law) point to The Gospels and NT writtings. They in no way usurp, change or take away any thing in the Gospels or Epistles. It does shed light on what we do have today. In Him, lionheart |
||||||
213 | In the Name of the Lord (Authority) | Matt 5:17 | lionheart | 223285
Inquisitor, Good day to ya. There has been constant squabble and argument where the OT and OT law are concerned. And in large part to two words, Abolish and fulfill. Time after time we hear the statement the law has been abolished. Chapter and vers--e please. Fulfill yes,absolutely! Jesus even says so Himself. Matt 5:17,18. 2 Ti 3:16-17 tells us that all scripture is God breathed. Why would one want to minimalise or discount any part of Gods Word. We cant afford to do that. The whole of scripture is there for our benefit and instruction. It behooves us to keep our hearts and minds in it. 2 Ti 2:15. We are no longer under the law but may I suggest that there is plenty to point and guide people to Christ. In Him, lionheart |

214 | Is James 4:3 completely true? | James 4:3 | lionheart | 223274
biblenovice, Doc's response to you was right on. Know where does he even suggest that scripture is in error. He gave you lots of good scriptural support. God answers our prayer and grants our requests, He just might do it in the ways we don't expect. Case in point, I grew up in Michigan where it would get brutally cold during the winter. I've driven my share of beater cars with no heat and I never froze. As a matter of fact I stayed comfortably warm without a functioning heater. My question to you is, has not God taken care of you through all this? Nuff said! In Him, lionheart |

217 | sins of the father | Bible general Archive 4 | lionheart | 222715
lightedsteps, Good day to you. I don't believe Doc was saying anything about things being nullified. Scripture never contradicts it's self. Now with that said, yes people are responsible for their own sin and will be accountable for their sin. But how often have the consequences of ones sin impacted the lives of others. All the time, history is full of examples. That's why we should be so gratefull to God for His grace and mercy to us by His Son Jesus Christ. In Him, lionheart |
