201 | Did Gamaliel give sound advice? | Acts 5:34 | Makarios | 6355
In Acts 5:34-39, we read of Gamaliel addressing the Council regarding what to do about Peter and the apostles. Was the advice of Gamaliel sound advice? If so, should we disregard all followings or cults so that they can 'prove' themselves by standing the test of time?
202 | Using the "Roman's Road" to evangelize? | NT general Archive 1 | Makarios | 6343
The most 'popular' way for Christians to lead people to salvation using the Bible is by using the "Roman's Road". (Romans 3:23, 6:23, 5:8, 10:9,13). Over the years that I have been a Christian, I have adopted a little bit different Scriptural approach, using (in this order): Romans 3:23 (realize that you are a sinner), Romans 6:23 (penalty for sin is death), 1 Peter 3:18 (Christ paid the penalty), Acts 3:19 (we must repent), Ephesians 2:8 (must accept Christ by faith) and Romans 10:9,13 (must confess Jesus as Lord).. This approach is a little different but equally effective! I am curious, are there other 'methods' or ways that people use to lead others to Christ using the Bible?
203 | Dear InHzsvc, what do you mean by that? | Rom 5:6 | Makarios | 6326
Dear InHzsvc, what do you mean? The Lord has control over me and my emotions. He has not 'lost control' over me in any way, unless I decide to let my emotions rule over me. I am not full of pride, it is you who are dodging the very essence of what we are discussing. I feel that it is you and your Calvinist friends who are full of heresy, pride and everything else that discourages and leads away from the truth. And I am concerned of the heretics leading the church astray.

207 | Capitals? What was your question Ray? | Is 9:6 | Makarios | 6306
Ray, I don't understand what you are asking or saying here.. Please clarify for me so that I can give you an informative response. As for translating Jesus as 'son of man' (lower capitals) this is done usually to focus on Jesus' humanity. Is this what you are referring to? As for the translators and why they chose to or not to capitalize certain things, that is probably best answered by the translators themselves.
208 | What does it mean to tear one's clothes? | Ezra 9:3 | Makarios | 5971
In Ezra 9:3, Ezra tears his clothes- his garment and his robe- and even pulls some hair from his own head and beard. This is a common way to express grief, distress, or humiliation (v.5). Tearing of one's clothes can also be found in Gen. 37:29,34; Josh. 7:6; Judges 11:35; 2 Sam. 13:19; 2 Chr. 34:27; Esth. 4:1; Job 1:20; Isaiah 36:22; Jer. 41:5; and Matt. 26:65. When Ezra says that he pulled some hair away from his own head and beard, it is unique in the Bible where a person would do this. We read about the shaving of one's head or beard (Job 1:20, Jer. 41:5, 47:5, Ezek. 7:18, Amos 8:10). When Nehemiah was confronted with the same problem of intermarriage, he puled out the hair of the offending parties (Neh. 13:25) instead of his own. What is the full significance of the 'tearing' of one's clothes or robes and why?
209 | Is the United States in the Bible? | Dan 7:4 | Makarios | 5928
I was listening to Irvin Baxter's Endtime prophecy program (http://www.endtime.com) on the radio and he specifically mentions that the United States is in the Bible, and it is here in Daniel 7:4.. He says that the first beast was like a lion (in which he alludes to Great Britian) that had the wings of an eagle (the Official symbol of the United States). He claims that this represents the United States. Is there any truth here or is this just pure speculation?

In Isaiah 6:1-5, the seraphim are described as having wings. The cherubim in Ezekiel 1:6 also have wings. The angels that John saw in his vision have wings (Rev. 4:8). However, many other Bible verses about angels make no mention of wings (ex. Heb. 13:2). Do all angels have wings?
217 | Which mountain or the same mountain? | 2 Chr 3:1 | Makarios | 5592
In 2 Chronicles 3:1, is this the same Mount Moriah in Gen. 22:2,14 where Abraham was commanded to offer Isaac as a sacrifice? Also, I find it interesting to note that David wept on the Mount of Olives (2 Sam. 15:30), the same place where Christ dwelt (Matt. 5) and where Gethsemane is located (Mark 14:32).
