184 | Jesus cast into hell?? | 1 Cor 15:3 | jbw | 83114
Eph 4:9 (Now this expression, "He ascended," what does it mean except that He also had descended into the lower parts of the earth? Eph 4:10 He who descended is Himself also He who ascended far above all the heavens, so that He might fill all things.) The Lord was not actually cast into hell, but He went there. (The word says that he led capitivity captive.)Eph 4:8 Therefore it says, "WHEN HE ASCENDED ON HIGH, HE LED CAPTIVE A HOST OF CAPTIVES, AND HE GAVE GIFTS TO MEN." He went to hell (hades at the time) To preach to the souls who died in hope of his coming...When people died before Jesus came they went to hades and rested in Abraham's bosom. John 8:56 "Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad." John 8:57 So the Jews said to Him, "You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?" John 8:58 Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am." When people died before the Lord Jesus came they went to hades and rested in Abraham bosom Luke 16:Luke 16:22 "Now the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham's bosom; and the rich man also died and was buried. Luke 16:23 "In Hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and *saw Abraham far away and Lazarus in his bosom. Luke 16:24 "And he cried out and said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, for I am in agony in this flame.' Luke 16:25 "But Abraham said, 'Child, remember that during your life you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus bad things; but now he is being comforted here, and you are in agony. Luke 16:26 'And besides all this, between us and you there is a great chasm fixed, so that those who wish to come over from here to you will not be able, and that none may cross over from there to us.' Luke 16:27 "And he said, 'Then I beg you, father, that you send him to my father's house-- Luke 16:28 for I have five brothers--in order that he may warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.' Luke 16:29 "But Abraham *said, 'They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.' Luke 16:30 "But he said, 'No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent!' Luke 16:31 "But he said to him, 'If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.'" So the Lord Jesus did go to hell (hades) to preach to the sould who died in hopes of his coming. A person's total salvation should be based on the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Not any of his works. For without the resurrection then are we still in our sins. I hoped that I helped... |

188 | How Do You Know Christianity Is True? | 2 Corinthians | jbw | 83170
2 Cor 5:17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. I know that Christianity is true because the Lord Jesus lives in my heart. I know what I was before He saved me. And I know and the people around me know what He is accomplishing now in my life. Inwardly and outwardly. Had I not had a personal encounter with the Lord Jesus, I couldn't write this statement. But I know that he LIVES....Because He lives inside of my heart....... Now you will encounter a lot of religion. But Christianity...I mean being absolutely born again...You will know when they they make there abode for sure John 14:23 Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him. You will still make slip up's and mistakes...But once His spirit comes in...He will not allow you to rest comfortably even when you offend the least person.... Last but not least Christianity is not based on one certain act..It's a long progression of perfection until the Lord Jesus returns. |

189 | I won"t be saved if I don't tithe | 2 Corinthians | jbw | 83175
Eph 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; Your salvation is based solely on your accepting Christ as your personal Savior. It was and is a gift from God.... Now.....Mal 3:8 "Will a man rob God? Yet you are robbing Me! But you say, 'How have we robbed You?' In tithes and offerings. I'm finding that Christianity/Salvation is a progression. Once you accept Christ you have not arrived. (boy am I learning) Sometimes things happen in your life and it's just a test. A test to see what you're made of and what the Lord has to work inside of you. (does He already know,,,,yes!!!! but, you don't) If something happened in your life and you cannot do the things that you use to. Give the Lord some money at least. Share with the Lord where you are. Let Him know that things have change and you don't mean not to trust Him with your finances but the situation is getting the best of you or getting you down. The Lord is full of mercies, long suffering and compassionate. Ask Him for wisdom on how you can get it done. Mal 3:10 "Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this," says the LORD of hosts, "if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows. Mal 3:11 "Then I will rebuke the devourer for you, so that it will not destroy the fruits of the ground; nor will your vine in the field cast its grapes," says the LORD of hosts. If you have been tithing and tithing faithfully on whatever you give. (The key word here is consistancy). You can give the Lord back his word..His word states that He would rebuke the devour. Meaning it will never be any lack or slack in your house. I will give a small testimony. I own property and I had my daughter to pick up the rent one day. Well she was not paying attention and laid the envelops on her lap. Well when I dropped her off at school, when she got out the car the envelops fell on the ground. No body even knew. Well when I got to the bank and looked in my purse no rent checks. I actually freaked out. I cried out Lord...you told me that if I paided my tithes and offerings that you would not allow the enemy to come in on my finances. Well, I was led to go back to my daughters school..When I got there, I actually was drawn to the place where I dropped her off. My right hand to the living God...Every rent check and money order were in the envelopes. sealed up...Tired marks were all on the back of the mail. But the contents were safe... I am also finding out that sometimes circumstances also come so you can get to know the Lord in a different light.. Maybe just here He (God)wants you to see Him as "Jevohah Jireh" meaning the God that supplies all my needs.. I know that was much but, God doesn't see it as cheating (just a lack of trusting Him). And if you accepted Christ as Savior and Lord...When the trump of God sounds..You will be caught up in the air with the Lord to forever...based on your accepting him and not your tithing... I hope I helped a little Tell the Lord where you are...Tell Him you need help in trusting in this place where you are...And I tell you....You will not experience any lack and you will be able to give the Lord what's do him.....It's not easy...I've been there...But we can do al things though Christ... I hoped I helped you... |

191 | death, being with Jesus -verse? | 2 Corinthians | jbw | 83178
2 Cor 5:4 For indeed while we are in this tent, we groan, being burdened, because we do not want to be unclothed but to be clothed, so that what is mortal will be swallowed up by life. 2 Cor 5:5 Now He who prepared us for this very purpose is God, who gave to us the Spirit as a pledge. 2 Cor 5:6 Therefore, being always of good courage, and knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord-- 2 Cor 5:7 for we walk by faith, not by sight-- 2 Cor 5:8 we are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord. 2 Cor 5:9 Therefore we also have as our ambition, whether at home or absent, to be pleasing to Him. I hope that this is the scripture you were looking for... |

192 | Should a Minister marry non-christians? | 2 Corinthians | jbw | 83182
1 Cor 7:6 But this I say by way of concession, not of command. 1 Cor 7:7 Yet I wish that all men were even as I myself am. However, each man has his own gift from God, one in this manner, and another in that. 1 Cor 7:8 But I say to the unmarried and to widows that it is good for them if they remain even as I. 1 Cor 7:9 But if they do not have self-control, let them marry; for it is better to marry than to burn with passion. 1 Cor 7:10 But to the married I give instructions, not I, but the Lord, that the wife should not leave her husband 1 Cor 7:11 (but if she does leave, she must remain unmarried, or else be reconciled to her husband), and that the husband should not divorce his wife. 1 Cor 7:12 But to the rest I say, not the Lord, that if any brother has a wife who is an unbeliever, and she consents to live with him, he must not divorce her. 1 Cor 7:13 And a woman who has an unbelieving husband, and he consents to live with her, she must not send her husband away. 1 Cor 7:14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified through his wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified through her believing husband; for otherwise your children are unclean, but now they are holy. 1 Cor 7:15 Yet if the unbelieving one leaves, let him leave; the brother or the sister is not under bondage in such cases, but God has called us to peace. 1 Cor 7:16 For how do you know, O wife, whether you will save your husband? Or how do you know, O husband, whether you will save your wife? 1 Cor 7:17 Only, as the Lord has assigned to each one, as God has called each, in this manner let him walk. And so I direct in all the churches. I don't believe that the bible states anything like that. But, if the Minister is given a opportunity to marry a unsaved couple He could at that time take avantage of occasion and during the prayer ask the Lord to draw them by His spirit and saved them. Somebody somewhere prayed for me..... I hoped this shaded some light |

193 | Tithing in the New Testament? | 2 Corinthians | jbw | 83187
Matt 22:21 They *said to Him, "Caesar's." Then He *said to them, "Then render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's; and to God the things that are God's." Basically the old testament speaks about tithing. I haven't read or studied anything regarding tithing in the new. But what I mentioned aforehand. I hope this helps.. |

194 | is jesus god? | 2 Corinthians | jbw | 83447
YES!!!!!! 2 Cor 5:18 Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, 2 Cor 5:19 namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation. The trinity is made up of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost..... |

195 | Is there a waiting place for the soul? | 2 Cor 5:8 | jbw | 83943
I am walking very light with this one. I know that their are a lot of doctrines out here and I wouldn't want to be offensive to anyone. But this is what the word of God says below. Regarding anyones departure into the next life.... Luke 16:19 "Now there was a rich man, and he habitually dressed in purple and fine linen, joyously living in splendor every day. Luke 16:20 "And a poor man named Lazarus was laid at his gate, covered with sores, Luke 16:21 and longing to be fed with the crumbs which were falling from the rich man's table; besides, even the dogs were coming and licking his sores. Luke 16:22 "Now the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham's bosom; and the rich man also died and was buried. Luke 16:26 'And besides all this, between us and you there is a great chasm fixed, so that those who wish to come over from here to you will not be able, and that none may cross over from there to us.' Luke 16:27 "And he said, 'Then I beg you, father, that you send him to my father's house-- Luke 16:28 for I have five brothers--in order that he may warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.' Luke 16:29 "But Abraham *said, 'They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.' Luke 16:30 "But he said, 'No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent!' Luke 16:31 "But he said to him, 'If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.'" |

196 | Why before He died? | 2 Cor 5:21 | jbw | 83400
Ps 22:6 But I am a worm and not a man, A reproach of men and despised by the people. Ps 22:7 All who see me sneer at me; They separate with the lip, they wag the head, saying, Ps 22:14 I am poured out like water, And all my bones are out of joint; My heart is like wax; It is melted within me. Ps 22:15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd, And my tongue cleaves to my jaws; And You lay me in the dust of death. Ps 22:16 For dogs have surrounded me; A band of evildoers has encompassed me; They pierced my hands and my feet. If you read the scriptures printed you will see that the Lord is not referencing a spiritual death. Everything written here is aboout the pain and agony he suffered and endure on the cross. Psalm 22 vs 16 says "Thye pierced my hands and my feet. Jesus knew He had to go to the cross but his mortal body had to bear the pain. Imagine somebody hammer railroad nails through your hands. I think one would say My God,why have you forsaken me. Then Isaiah 52 Is 52:14 Just as many were astonished at you, My people, So His appearance was marred more than any man And His form more than the sons of men. Jesus actually looked like some freak up on the cross. No one recognized Him after the tortuous beating. That's why He cried out My God My God..... Last but not least the spirit is always willing to go but the fleah is weak. Mark 14:38 "Keep watching and praying that you may not come into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak." |
||||||
197 | Where did the Holy Spirit go? | 2 Cor 5:21 | jbw | 83401
I would first like to say that God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy spirit are three but one. And each deity serves different functions. Remeber when Jesus told them that is good for me that I go away, because if I go away I will send the comforter/Holy spirit John 14:26 "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you. They Holy Spirit did not come unto after His descention and then ascendtion back to the Father Acts Acts 1:7 He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority; Acts 1:8 but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth." Now far as a spirtual death I personally believe that He who knew no sin became sin for us. 2 Cor 5:21 He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. So for Jesus to have experience everything we did. He would have had to experience a spitual death. A separation from God...These are just my thoughts |
