181 | They are married,is it sin to have oral? | Bible general Archive 3 | Morant61 | 185156
Greetings STJ! You quoted the three points I listed as guidelines for making a decision regarding sexual practices in marriage. The first one was that no practice can be allowed in marriage that is specifically condemned in Scripture. Adultery is condemned. Promiscuity is condemned. Bestiality is condemned. These, and other practices explicitly condemned in Scripture are never allowable. My second point was that a sexual practice must be consensual. No spouse has the right to force a spouse to do anything that he or she is not comfortable or willing to do. Finally, I made the point that nothing physically harmful is permitted. At which point, did I say that if something feels good, do it? :-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

182 | They are married,is it sin to have oral? | Bible general Archive 3 | Morant61 | 185193
Greetings John! We know from Scripture that there are some areas in life that may well be sin for you, but not for me. (See Rom. 14:23) However, you must also acknowledge that Scripture nowhere condemns this practice. So, if you feel it is a sin, then by all means, do not engage in it. However, don't condemn someone else for doing something that Scripture does not condemn. This is why I laid out the guidelines in my first post on this topic in the manner that I did. Not everyone will agree on every practice in the marriage bed. So no cookie cutter approach will work when counseling a young couple preparing for marriage. Well, I have to get to bed and then get to work! :-) Have a great day my friend! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

183 | eph 1:4-5 what is predestination, chosen | Bible general Archive 3 | Morant61 | 185244
Greetings! There are many different understandings of these particular words and their use and meaning in Scripture. For the Arminian perspective on this issue, I would recommend the books: "Life in the Son", and "Elect in the Son" by Robert Shank. They are both published by Westcott Publishers. Greetings Apollos! Love your screen name! :-) It is certainly true that Christ must work in us before we can come to Him. John 6:44 - "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day." However, Scripture also tells us the following. John 12:32 - "But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself." Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

185 | A church that does not practice tongues | Bible general Archive 3 | Morant61 | 185411
Greetings Godselect! There are plenty of Church's which fit this criteria! However, there are also plenty of Christians who would differ with your position on pastors and tongues. But, if you differ with them, simply find one of the many churches that would agree with your position. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

186 | A church that does not practice tongues | Bible general Archive 3 | Morant61 | 185577
Greetings God's elect! I am not exactly clear as to why you asked a question that you seem to already know the answer to? But, are your positions really Biblical? Let's take your first position on tongues as an example. Where does Scripture tells us not to pursue speaking in tongues? We are told in Scripture to eagerly desire spiritual gifts (1 Cor. 14:1) Tongues is listed as one of many spiritual gifts (1 Cor. 12:10). We are told that not everyone has the gift of tongues (1 Cor. 12:30). But, those who do have the gift are appointed by God (1 Cor. 12:28) and are a part of the God ordained process of strengthening the church (1 Cor. 14:26). Paul gives specific directions for how the gift of tongues should be used in a worship service (1 Cor. 14) and he thanks God that he speaks in tongues more than the Corinthians (1 Cor. 14:18). He also commands us not to forbid the speaking in tongues (1 Cor. 14:39). But, where exactly are we told that speaking in tongues is an unbiblical practice as you alleged in your first post? 197 | A church that does not practice tongues | Bible general Archive 3 | Morant61 | 185705
Greetings God's elect! The reason I asked this question is that there is a difference between what you personally believe and what Scripture actually says. You implied in your question that a church that allows 'tongues' is not biblical. Yet, there is no Scripture that forbids tongues. In fact, Scripture specifically says not to forbid tongues. Further, Scripture is also clear that no every person heard his own language (except for Acts 2). Otherwise, an interpretor would not have been necessary. :-) I will grant that many churches do not follow the regulations laid out by Paul, but forbidding tongues is a direct violation of Scripture. We need to be careful that we don't turn personal preferences into Scriptural mandates when evaluating churches. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

198 | A church that does not practice tongues | Bible general Archive 3 | Morant61 | 185739
Greetings John! The point I was trying to make was quite simple. God's elect had made the claim that a church which practiced speaking in tongues was unbiblical in it's practices. I was simply trying to demonstrate that his position is not Scriptural. My post to him made the points. 1) Tongues is one of the gifts of the Spirit. 2) Not everyone speaks in tongues. 3) Those who do are appointed by God. 4) All of the gifts are given to edify the church. 5) We are commanded to not forbid the speaking in tongues. 6) Paul spoke in tongues. 7) Paul described tongues as one of the normative parts of the worship service. In light of all these Scriptural facts, how could a church be unbiblical simply because they allow speaking in tongues. :-) Thus, God's elect's position was a personal one, not a Scriptural one. 200 | Translation / Transliteration | Bible general Archive 3 | Morant61 | 186268
Greetings Cheri! Allow me to use the Greek NT as an example to answer your question. Translation is the process of putting the Greek word into it's English equivalent. For example, the Greek word for Law is 'nomos'. If I were to translate 'nomos' into English I would use the English word 'law'. Transliteration is the process of using English letters to spell a Greek word. For example, we cannot use Greek letters on this web site. So, earlier in the post I said that the Greek word for 'law' is 'nomos'. 'Nomos' is the transliterated Greek word, since I can't actually type the Greek word itself. I hope this helps!
