I looked at this answer again and I'm still confused about why it would be broken down into 62 weeks and 7 weeks. If it took 49 years to rebuild Jerusalem, wouldn't it be broken down into 49 and 20 weeks? Can anyone clarify this or is it just one of those things Bible scholars don't agree on? thanks, Chusarcik |

In Daniel Chapter 9, 69 weeks of the 70 week prophecy are broken down as 62 weeks and 7 weeks and one week to make up the 70 weeks. I understand the order of events to fulfill the prophecy and understand the last week is the 7 year tribulation but I am confused on why the first 69 weeks are broken down as 62 weeks and 7 weeks. In trying to add the numbers up to understand the 70 week prophecy in Daniel, chapter 9 I am running into conflicting information. According to Teachinghearts.org, the final decree to rebuild Jerusalem was issued fall 457B.C. but according to my other source, John Macarthur's Daniel study guide, the decree was issued 445 B.C. Both sources agree the Persian Artaxerxes issued the decree. Then concerning the year Jesus rode in on the donkey declaring himself to be the Messiah, teachinghearts says the year was 27 A.D., while John Macarthur says it was 30 A.D. Can anyone shed some light on what is correct concerning the year each of these two events actually ocurred? Chusarcik |
