181 | Confirming His Voice? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 73841
Is there specific scripture against what you heard? Do you know in your heart that is is wrong? God does not always make 'sense' to us but what He will direct you to do will in no wise go crosswise with scripture. Learning His voice or learning to follow the guidence of the Holy Spirit takes time, and practice. Do not be affraid and it is okey to ask God to give you assurance as long as your heart is to do His will. He understands we are children. Purhaps a word study of 'obey' might help. Does this help? |

182 | God is everywhere? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 73840
God is Spirit, and the Holy Spirit which is one with the Father is moving throughout the earth convicting sinners. John 4:23-24 John 16:8 And when He is come, He will reporve the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgement. How does God, by the Holy Spirit (which is the Spirit of God) convict sinners if He cannot go where they are? God is everywhere because the instant a sinner turns and repents, even in the 'red house'or bar, God by His Spirit will instantly save. One viewing the perfect unity of the trinity does not necessarily make a distinction. God bless |

183 | Are you being put to the test? | John 6:6 | gracefull | 73837
When faced with a situation in life, what is our first response? Do we look for all the carnal or worldly solutions first or do we look to God first? Most of us exhaust our own resources first then turn to God as the last resort. Matthew 6:24-33 Phil. 4:5-7 |

184 | God is everywhere? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 73723
Genesis 18:21 My understanding is God sent His angels to test Sodom to see if there was any chance of redemption. By sending them He gave them one last opportunity to turn, and instead they pressed forward with their perversion. Please note and consider also that God said "shall I hide this thing from my servant Abraham...for I have chosen him, so he may command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing righteousness and justice, so that the LORD may bring upon Abraham what He has spoken about him. Genesis 18:17-19 God had entered a covenant with Abraham and this was a test of that covenant. God agreed not to kill the righteous with the wicked. There is much more to this than meets the eye. God bless |

185 | Are Tounges a sign of Spiritual Baptism | Acts 2:4 | gracefull | 73409
Bunty, as you see, this is a 'hot' topic. Let me challenge you to consider three things. Spirit baptism is not a sign of 'salvation'. In most full gospel denominations it is taught as a second event after salvation. As inmyheart quoted, some believed and were them baptized in the Holy Spirit after the apostles came and laid hands on them. Secondly, the tongues not all would have as Brad pointed to are the 'gift of tongues' where the Holy Spirit unctions the believer to speak a message to the congregation, because Paul also states that 'do all interpret?' Third Paul indicates there is a tongues for private prayer and worship which all can have if they will receive by faith. Paul said "I pray with the Spirit and I pray with the understanding". God bless.. |

187 | HOW WAS THE SACRFAICE DEFILED | 1 Sam 2:12 | gracefull | 73369
The key scripture is vers 12 Eli's sons were wicked men; they did not know the LORD. God had an established legal proceedure and the sons of Eli had no regard for God, no fear. The sacrafice was to be BOILED and the priest's servant was to insert a 3 pronged fork(trinity symbolism) and whatever was pulled up belonged to the priest. The sons of Eli decided they did not want the sacrifice to be boiled and threatened any of the people who opposed. They became arrogant to the point that they had no regard for God. |

188 | To whom do we belong? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 73364
Phillipians 3:9-15 Romans 3:22 Romans 4:11 Romans 9:30 Romans 10:6 Salvation is once...Jesus paid the price once and for all...sanctification is continuous. When we recognze we are righteous by faith not works, then we can progress forward to the realization that righteousness which is by faith is the liberating factor of grace. The process of sanctification is the process of transformation done by the the Holy Spirit and the word working in our lives. When one accepts the righteousness by faith one can begin the process of sanctification without fear, but instead with a heart of love and thankfulness. As long as we fear losing our salvation we will be sin conscious, but when we refocus on growing to His likeness leaving the past behind, and moving forward we become God in us conscious...relationship conscious. Repentance is not attempting to recrucify Christ, but should be a continual walking forward IN Christ. Romans 8:15 We have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear, but ye have received the Spirit of adoption whereby we cry, Abba, Father. God bless |

189 | can anyone explain ? Mat 25.24 | Matt 25:24 | gracefull | 73361
At A Glance: This one percieved the master in a way the others did not, and therefore his response to the masters commission was totally different. How we perceive God will determine how we serve Him. If we recognize Him as just, faithful and prue love(as opposed to carnal) we will be diligent to serve from a heart of love. If we are operating in fear (not reverent respect but fear of punishment) our service will be unfruitful and unpleasing. Our service must be from a heart of love to be truly fruitful in the kingdom. Secondly, we must commit to be faithful in releasing and allowing the Holy Spirit to work through us producing that which we are gifted to produce. Hope this helps. |

190 | Simon wanting to buy Holy Spirit Acts 8 | Matt 13:20 | gracefull | 73240
Personal testimony.... My husband and I were discussing this very subject this weekend. He attended a ____ chuch when he was in his teens. The pastor preached the words of slavation and my husband 'decided' he should be 'saved'. He went forward and spoke the words directed. Now that he is truly born again he can look back and say it was a mental decision and not a spiritual rebirth. Sadly many have done done this, and I believe often it is pressure from believing friends or family rather than the Holy Spirit drawing. The difference is religion verses true salvation. |

191 | How can God change his mind? | Jer 18:10 | gracefull | 73079
God says if the people will repent, I will reverse my decision. This really is no different from what we are faced with today. There is judgement pronounced against sinners, but if they will 'hear' and 'turn' (repent), that judgement will be reversed in the life of the individual. Psalm 119:104-106 His word is our lamp to show us through the darkness.... To walk in the light or darkness is our choice. Becoming mature is often a painful process. The awareness that God has made us accountable for our actions is often a lesson not well received. God is omniscient but He through His word has established spiritual laws or principles necessary to receive His blessings. God NEVER deviates from His word. He is not unpredictable. The terms unpredictable and just contradict each other. God bless Simply put..do it His way and receive His promises. |

192 | No healing? why? | 2 Cor 1:4 | gracefull | 72963
If you review the various threads, I believe you will find, as I have found, the discussion usually melts down to this statement.. "While I believe God provided healing for every believer through redemption and His sovereignty protects that provision (which must be received by faith just like salvation), others believe God heals some and not others because He is sovereign." Sadly the discussion usually breaks down to us being accused of not believing God is sovereign. Nothing could be further from the truth. Be encouraged and continue in the word, and prayer. Does that make sense? God bless. |

193 | Searching for the truth | Eph 6:12 | gracefull | 72956
This scripture is clearly pointing to the 'source' of the war of good and evil being waged here in the earth...This scripture(in context) also gives us a clear description of how the believer is to be armed as warriors against these demonic warriors, who are waring against the body of Christ. At this point if you are a born again believer (as you have become led to seek this truth) it would be wise to meditate in being armed, exactly what each part of the armour is and how you are to 'be armed'. If you are not, it would be wise to realize you are in the war and on the wrong side. No one is 'neutral'. One is for God and one is against Him. We are not against each other. God bless! |

194 | Was sin the reason for the man sickness? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 72953
In considering Matthew 9:4-6 Matthew Henry's commentary states.. 3. A good reason for that encouragement; Thy sins are firgiven thee. Now this may be considered,1. as an introduction to the cure of his bodily distemper; " Thy sins are pardoned andtherefore thou shalt be healed." Note. As sin is the cause of sickness, so the remission of sin is the comfort of recovery from sickness"; not but that sin may be pardoned, and yet the sickness removed; not but that the sickness may be removed, and yet the sin not be pardoned: but if we have the comfort of our reconciliation to God, with the comfort of our recovery from sickness, this makes it a mercy indeed to us as to Hezekiah, Isa. 38:17 |

195 | When to consult others on God's will? | Gal 1:1 | gracefull | 72788
Based on the subject matter-learning to discern and obey the voice of God personally-and taking the scripture reference Paul knew he had heard from God. If we already know what God is telling us to do, and we begin to ask others, we will become confused. Hope that helps |

196 | To learn the truth | OT general | gracefull | 72532
Genesis 21:10 Galatians 4:30 Cast out the bond woman and her son (Ishmael) and if you read on you will find the prophesy of God upon Ishmael. I believe that because of the alienation between the two one can see an alienation between the descendants of Ishmael against the seed of Issac, thus setting them (generally speaking) against God. They may be attempting to worship the same God but in their own way as opposed to God's way. By not humbling themselves to acknowledge Issac as the rightful heir. |

197 | is the holy spirit here during the tribu | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 72530
2 Thessalonians 2:6-8 seems to be saying that He will not. And you know what restrains him now, so that in his time he will be revealed. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way. Then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming. If the 'lawless one' is the anitchrist, he is being restrained, and will not be released until the Holy Spirit (along with the church) is removed. Then Jesus will return and destroy him. Can we even begin to imagine a world without the Holy Spirit and believers? I thank God for His mercy.... |

198 | Sure of a solid foundation in Christ? | James 1:21 | gracefull | 71729
The first place to check is to return to the spiritual alter they first came to Jesus at and examine that in light of scripture...Was my new birth genuine. 1. Do I know the Spirit of God was convicting me of my sins. 2. Did I repent? 3. Did the peace of God come? Along with the desire to let Jesus be Lord and turn from my old life to a new one? If the answer is no, this would be the place to start. But if the answer is yes....look on. Each of us hit 'spiritual crisis' points in our walk. This is one I hit and the scripture the Lord led me to was this: James 1:21-23 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deeds. Also see...Luke 6:47-49 When we study the Bible and become theologically correct, we fool ourselves into believing that we are wise. The word of God is LIVING and SPIRITUAL. We are to BECOME the word as the Holy Spirit reveals and transforms us into the image of Christ. If this is not happening we may be born again but empty. The relationship we are born into has not been developed. Prayer time seeking fellowship with God's Spirit with and through the REVEALED (not taught) word. Hebrew 8:11 And they shall not teach everyman his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. When we put our confidence in and learn from man, we only learn that man's understanding, or hear that man's revelation, but we are to seek our own. The Holy Spirit teaches each of us personally, and human teachers only point in that direction. 1John 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and you need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. Teachers are called of God, no doubt, but they can only teach what they have learned from the Holy Spirit and/or Bible study. They can only teach their revelation, giving us a sense of direction to 'look for truth'. We must seek that personal revelation for ourselves, because until we receive and DO that from the Holy Spirit, we are not CHANGED. One must have the courage to move from religion to relationship which is to move from carnal to spiritual. If we are willing and seek God fervently in prayer and commit to do whatever He reveals to us, He will begin to direct your life into one of purpose, His purpose. God Bless |

199 | How do I pray for myself? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 71703
I recently received (and ordered one for all my children) a small booklet that might be a good place to start. It is titled "For The Family" by Sylvia Gunter. The web site to order this and other study guides is: www.thefathersbusiness.com Some of the table of contents reads Praying for the family Steps to powerful prayer Love check-up Clean hands, pure heart inventory Warfare prayer Bondage breaking prayer Praying for husband Praying for wife Praying for children What I like and the reason I recomend it is that it is not 'form'prayers, but addresses praying scripturally therefore in God's will, and addresses hinderances to prayer. When we pray God's word, we are praying in agreement with His will so we can pray confidently (in faith). This is a mini-booklet for a more extensive study guide also available on the site. God bless |

200 | How God feels about praise | John 4:24 | gracefull | 71173
Another good verse to remember is 1 Samuel 16:7 Worship or praise are both matters of the heart. When God is displeased with our praise or worship when it is covering up an impure heart. He loves it when it is from a pure heart. |
