165 | The KJV is the most accurate? | Bible general Archive 2 | kalos | 104412
Makarios: Thank you for your reply. No doubt the folks at av1611.com would find fault, even though what I posted is pure fact with no opinion added. It's just a fact that there are over 300 words in the King James that no longer mean what they meant in 1611. --kalos |

166 | What is the most accurate version? | Bible general Archive 2 | kalos | 104444
If there is no such thing as the most accurate translation, then it would follow that all translations are equally accurate -- from The Message to the KJV. Also, I think we can safely say that there is a real way to judge which translations are more literal and which are less. This statement itslef -- "The claim to which is most accurate is nothing more than opinion and sales hype" -- is an opinion (in my opinion). :-) I agree with you 100 percent regarding staying with the major translations which you named. Bless you, Ed. Ever your friend, kalos |

168 | The KJV is the most accurate? | Bible general Archive 2 | kalos | 104480
justme: Having read your posts from the beginning, I have no doubt that using the edition of the KJV to which you refer, you could preach a fine message. You hit the nail on the head when you say: there just is no excuse for not reading the Bible. I couldn't agree with you more. Dr. Wallace writes: 'In summary, I would suggest that each English-speaking Christian own at least a NASB or RSV and an NIV. As well, I think it would be helpful to possess a King James and even a New English Bible. And then, MAKE SURE THAT YOU READ THE BOOK!' 171 | What is the most accurate version? | Bible general Archive 2 | kalos | 104555
It seems to me that in this discussion, some have in mind ABSOLUTE accuracy, while others are speaking of RELATIVE accuracy. I would say that RELATIVELY speaking, it is possible to answer the original question. Of course, this is only my opinion, which, according to some Forum readers, is absolutely no better and no worse than that of Bible translators themselves. :-) |

You write: "we have to have some standard cause when the world anti christ church comes they will also have a translation they have prepared and planted very well to decieve" May I ask, where in the Bible does it say that the world anti christ church will also have a translation they have prepared? Also, what world antichirst church? Scripture references, please. |

174 | How to "win the world" ? | Bible general Archive 2 | kalos | 105313
Larry: You write: "I say that if souls are being saved and lives are being changed....bring on the band, the lights, and the comfortable chairs, etc." Consider the following Scriptures. Matthew 7:21-23 (ESV) "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. [22] On that day many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?' [23] And then will I declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.' Rev. 2:2, 4-5 (ESV) " 'I know your works, your toil and your patient endurance,...[4] But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first. [5] Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent." In light of these passages of Scripture, are you sure that the acid test of a true Christian or church is whether they do the expected works? Or is there more to it than that? I'm not saying you're wrong. I merely ask you to consider this. Peace, kalos |

"Is God our friend?" John 15:13-15 (ESV) Greater love has no one than this, that someone lays down his life for his friends. [14] You are my friends if you do what I command you. [15] No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you. NASB James 2:23 and the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "AND ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS RECKONED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS," and he was called the friend of God. |

Mommapbs: I understand your concern here. And I agree. What is the old saying, "Familiarity breeds contempt"? Or at least a lack of respect? People often regard God with such familiarity that they lose sight of who He is and fail to reverence Him. I cringe every time I hear someone refer to God as "Daddy." We wouldn't dare enter the Oval Office, sit on the corner of the president's desk, and ask him to fetch us a cup of coffee. Should not the God of Creation, our Redeemer, be treated with more honor, respect and reverence than a mere earthly king or president? You hear people say that when they stand before God they are going to ask Him why this and why that. No, they won't. They'll be on their face before Him, awed in the presence of His holiness. Peace to you, kalos |

178 | Pledge, "under God", WWJD? | Bible general Archive 2 | kalos | 106108
You got that right! That "the intent of the framers is not law" is certainly true. Apparently the law has nothing to do with the intent of the framers of the Constitution. |

179 | Pledge, "under God", WWJD? | Bible general Archive 2 | kalos | 106128
Tim: I know a family with five children. In all their years of attending public schools, they never once said the pledge. Not once were they ever forced or intimidated to say the pledge of allegiance or punished for not saying it. On the other hand, we dare not allow the 99 students who do believe in God to say "under God" lest we offend the one who is an atheist. Apparently the guiding philosophy of the government and the schools is that the good of the one outweighs the good of the many. --kalos |

Was it the intent of the framers of the Constitution that you be pulled outside of the classroom and told that tou were violating the Law by having a Bible in school? I seriously doubt it. Somehow under the law/constitution it is okay for a person to choose NOT to carry/read the Bible at school. But it is NOT okay for a person to choose TO carry/read a Bible. What is wrong with this picture? I see the rights of one group being protected, while the rights of another group are being violated. |
