164 | What does it say about Chrisitan Adultre | Bible general Archive 3 | stjohn | 184979
Hello Mrs. Q The Bible most defiantly speaks of the sanctity of marriage. And if she is a Christian she certainly should know this. However; not that we are insensitive to your problem. But this is a Bible study forum, and I am sorry but I think it would be unfair to toughs using this site for Bible study to engage in marriage counseling. I am sorry. May I suggest that you have a real heart to heart with your husband, and tell "him", how important this to you. Does "He" know that your marriage is in jeopardy? God bless stj |

165 | difference in Conviction and Confession | Bible general Archive 3 | stjohn | 184988
Hi Wadene; Conviction; is a condition of conscience, by the working of the Holly Spirt, which brings awareness of condemnation. The purpose of this, is to lead us to salvation. Confession; is an "admission" of an offense, primarily sin. And a "proclamation" of a belief in something, or a "statement" of faith. God bless stj |

168 | HasFaith is given to all universally? | Bible general Archive 3 | stjohn | 185439
Hi Hobbs! The Bible doesn't say that faith is given to all, i.e. saving faith that is, but we know that all are born with a conscience, and, I think it is easy to see, that that is the working of the holly spirit. I believe that all people are born with a conscience. This is part of what is known as general revelation, i.e. the heavens declare His glory. Unless you have a mental deficiency called sociopathy, i.e. the inability to think in terms of right and wrong, the fact is, that all people are born with a conscience. This is to most clear thinking theologians, a very clear evidence of the fact, that the Holly Spirit is in the world, and has influence over men. So, this gives all men the opportunity to choose good over evil, or evil over good. Satin influences people to do evil, God influences people to do good. This is what is called horse sense, or common sense. And, no, there is no clear reference in scripture that proves or disproves its existence. But we all know that common sense exists because we can see it. If you stick your hand in the fire, you will get burned! God Bless. John |

Hi brother Hobbs, Thats a good question. I think I would have to say both. It does depend on the condition our heart for sure, but we are conscious of making the decision. God bless. John |

171 | Whose "repentance" in Heb 12:17. | Bible general Archive 3 | stjohn | 185925
Hello thenoel... It was not Esau that was repenting, nor could it refire to God. Esau was seaking Isaacs repentance. Repentence in this case refers to just changing ones mind. And Esau had no realasionship with God, so he had no desire to repent. look at this please. And you will see were Esau wept for Iaascs repentance, after Jacob had stolen his blessing. Gen 27:34 When Esau heard the words of his father, he cried out with an exceedingly great and bitter cry, and said to his father, "Bless me, even me also, O my father!" Gen 27:36 Then he said, "Is he not rightly named Jacob, for he has supplanted me these two times? He took away my birthright, and behold, now he has taken away my blessing." And he said, "Have you not reserved a blessing for me?" Gen 27:38 Esau said to his father, "Do you have only one blessing, my father? Bless me, even me also, O my father." So Esau lifted his voice and wept. Me, me, my, me, me, my, my, me! Sounds like the ramblings and whining of a spoiled brat! don't you think? And besides not only did Isaac not believe God. But Jacob evidently didn't believe God, and by the way neither did Rebekah believe God. The whole family was suffering from theodisfuntionalism! I know thats probably not a word but I had fun. How can we reasonably say, that Easu, even had any Idea what was on God's mind. The guy couldn't buy a clue! God was the last thing on that old boys mind. So, my friend I would have to say that; Easu most defiantly 'was,' seeking Isaac's repentance. You might want to read the whole story in Gen 27 Its a good one. God bless. John |

Hello Matt 6:33; Welcome, Here is just a sample of the garbage that you will find in the NEB Its Savage Butchery of the Word of God! Isaiah 53:3 "He is despised and rejected of men" KJV becomes "He was despised, he shrank from the sight of men." NEB Luke 19:10 clearly contradicts the above interpretation: "For the Son of Man is come to seek and to save that which was lost." He shrank from no man. Isaiah 53:4b "We did esteem Him stricken, smitten of God and afflicted" KJV becomes "We counted Him smitten of God, struck down by disease and misery." NEB An appalling mistranslation. Isaiah 53:9 "And He made His grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death." KJV becomes "He was assigned a grave with the wicked, a burial place among the refuse of mankind." NEB the real story is. Matthew 27:57-60 tells the story of the rich man Joseph of Arimathaea, claiming the body of Jesus and burying it in his own new tomb. Psalm 22:16 "They pierced my hands and my feet" KJV becomes "And they have hacked off my hands and my feet" NEB The truth is. Psalm 34:20 "He keepeth all His bones, not one of them is broken." Be wise my friend and stay far away from the NEB!!! God bless, John |
