1521 | Creation and Science | 2 Tim 2:15 | BradK | 116885
Draco04, I've not heard of "controlled creation" before. You might want to resource online the Institute for Creation research (ICR). Also, from my readings, Dr. Henry Morris is a very credible authority on the topic. You might try these as a starter. God Bless, BradK |

1522 | Ultimate Truth | Rom 1:27 | BradK | 116560
ptgard05, Well, I have to wonder if you read or considered anything I said:-) I'm reasonably intelligent and nobody is claiming that there is no "truth" out side of scripture- but that's not the question- is it? I'm not really interested in playing Cat and Mouse or 20 questions, ptgard, nor am I into futile exercises in mental gymnastics. When you get around to dealing with the question at hand let me know. Going off on rabbit trails is neither edifying nor productive. Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

1523 | i do believe..but this troubles me | Rom 1:27 | BradK | 116505
ptgard05, In further response, you’ve received a couple very good bits of scriptural advice. Here’s what I would say in clarification of my previous post. Consider that Jesus said in John 17:17, “Thy Word is Truth”. He is also referred to as “the Way, the Truth, and the Life..” (John 14:6). The validity of these statements are proven by His resurrection! Without the resurrection, nothing Jesus said, or did would have carried any real weight. The resurrection is the crux upon which the whole of Christianity and our faith rest ( 1 Cor. 15:17). Contrast this to politically correct Culture and even medical science. Neither are truth! God’s Word is TRUTH. Do we believe God or do we believe man? This is the question you have to answer. Now, lets look at the argument of Paul in Romans 1 where he is giving the results of Gentile guilt. In Rom 1:24-25 he says, “Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, who exchanged THE TRUTH OF GOD for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather then the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.” Verse 26 and 27 very specifically define what vile passions are. There is no doubt or wiggle room here. This CLEARLY defines sexually deviant, i.e. Homosexual behavior. “Men… burned in their lust for one another” can describe nothing else- if we’re honest. Concluding, it says in verse 28, “And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do the things which are not fitting.” The problem is this: Man’s sinful nature. Paul concludes, ALL are guilty before God in Romans 3- “There is none righteous, no not one;…”, and “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” God did not create man homosexual for the purpose of condemning him. Man in his sinfulness chooses to disobey God (Rom. 7:20). We’re not sinners because we sin, we sin because we are sinners! Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

1524 | i do believe..but this troubles me | Rom 1:27 | BradK | 116484
ptgard05, Thanks for your response and clarification:-) My time prohibits me from responding in-depth for the time being. If you truly believe as you state, God's Word must be preeminent in your life. In other words, It must supersede culture, medical science, etc. Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

1527 | Christ's Passion - how severe? | Is 52:14 | BradK | 114602
LA101595, Welcome to the Forum. This question also raised my interest in light of The Passion of the Christ. The reference is Isaiah 52:14: "As many were astonied at thee; his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men:" I hope this helps, BradK |

1528 | forgiving people who have hurt me | 2 Cor 5:17 | BradK | 114525
Brian, The first thing you want to do is to have a relationship with the Lord and seek Him through His Word and prayer(if you haven't done so already). If not, I urge you to receive Christ as your Savior and Lord! You also want to have a proper view of how God looks at you. Consider that you are a "new creature" in Christ. 2 Cor. 5:17-19 tells us : "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation." We have to accept that people can and will hurt through their actions and words. This is an inescapable fact of life. The majority of times it is HOW we react that determines the impact that those actions have upon us. Scripture implores us in several passages in the NT to forgive others... as Christ has forgiven us ( Col. 2:13, 3:13, Eph. 4:32). To get over what others have said or done to us, it's important to acknowledge the truth. "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect." as Romans 12:2 instructs us. Lastly, consider the specific words of Philippians 4:6-7, "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Speaking the Truth In Love, BradK |

1529 | What is tongues of fire? | Acts 2:3 | BradK | 113749
TKB, The reference you're looking for is Acts 2:3, where in context it deals with the filling of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. As I'm not Daniel :-), and don't have the "gift" of interpretation, I can't begin to tell you what it means. I would suggest that you seek the Lord through prayer, and the diligent study of His Word, to see if this be so. God's Word is our final authority today, my friend. 1530 | Creating Wealth God's Way | Prov 24:27 | BradK | 113474
ivory, Scripture says much about the principles and attitude regarding one's work- and by inference business! The primary reference that comes to mind is Proverbs 24:27, "Prepare your outside work, Make it fit for yourself in the field; And afterward build your house." Also, one that has guided my efforts and focus as a business owner is Proverbs 21:5, " The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty, But those of everyone who is hasty, surely to poverty." Several other refences may apply ( and this is by no means exhaustive), Proverbs 22:29,14:23, 13:4, 12:11, 24. Lastly, Paul's admonition in Col. 3:23 should ever be before us, "And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not men,..." Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

1532 | "Spiritual" Isreal? | Rom 9:10 | BradK | 113205
shecky, As your question has no reference point, I'm having some difficulty determining exactly what your asking? Could you clarify "Spiritual" Israel? There are those who believe that the Church is "spiritual Israel" and those who do not. I'm of the latter that the Church, the Body of Christ is separate and distinct from Israel. I believe scripture makes such a distinction (Eph. 2:11-12,3:6). The only debatable reference I'm aware of that's used to support the Church being "spiritual Israel" is Gal. 6:16 "And those who will walk by this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God." I hope this helps, BradK |

1533 | searching for wisdom | Bible general Archive 2 | BradK | 111101
Hollysville, Prayon has asked a good question in response to yours. I would add 3 points as suggestions: 1. Commit this to prayer and ask for the Lord's guideance; 2. Go to the elders with your concerns as instructed in Matt. 18:15-17; 3. Seek the advise and counsel of others in your church whom you trust and respect (Prov. 11:14) Lastly, it is possible the Lord is moving you on, so to speak. Keep seeking Him and He will guide you (Prov. 3:5-6). Sometimes, as I myself have experienced, a negative situation can turn into a positive over time. Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

1534 | What are bitter roots? | Heb 12:15 | BradK | 110990
Walksagain, The only direct reference to the term "Bitter roots" is found in Hebrews 12:15: "See to it that no one comes short of the grace of God; that no root of bitterness springing up causes trouble, and by it many be defiled;" Certainly the context of 12:14-16 should shed some light. The previous verse 12:14 when it states for us to"pursue peace with all men..." Following the verse, we have "that there be no immoral or godless person like Esau, who sold his own birthright for a single meal." By way of contrast, we can gain an understanding by looking at Deut.29:18 "so that there will not be among you a man or woman, or family or tribe, whose heart turns away today from the Lord our God, to go and serve the gods of those nations; that there will not be among you a root bearing poisonous fruit and wormwood." The Commentary Critical adds,"Root of bitterness comprehends every person (compare Heb 12:16) and every principle of doctrine or practice so radically corrupt as to spread corruption all around. The only safety is in rooting out such a root of bitterness." I hope this helps, BradK |

1535 | 'Reinvented' Gospel | 2 Tim 4:3 | BradK | 110141
New Creature, I'm going to agree! I think we're seeing a rapid departure from the Gospel as MacArthur suggests. The truth of 2 Timothy 2:15 is on the verge of becoming a lost art. Consequently, Bible knowledge and study of the Word are seriously neglected and even ignored! We see this magnified immensly at an evermore increasing rate on the likes of TBN. I encourage people to watch, simply to see the abberant doctrines and end-runs around the Word of God. The majority of the "teaching" is nothing more than spiritual "junk-food". It may taste good and even fill you, but in the long run it's harmful. It is a sad, yet telling picture of our times. Yet, we're not ignorant of satan's devices. We need to proclaim the truth, relevance, and authority of God's Word more than ever. I often ponder the meaning of Phil.1:15-18 and wonder if we've not strayed! Certainly some of the growth of "Mega-Churches" and the like can be attributed to God's Spirit moving in peoples hearts. I don't want to discount or minimalize that. However, I do feel that much of this is because of the "watering down" of the Gospel message, etc. to make it more appealing and draw larger numbers. Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

1538 | Just your interpretation? | Rom 4:3 | BradK | 109834
kalos, Good question, my friend. Certainly we want to avoid the attitude that all scripture is "up for grabs" when it comes to interpretation. This ignores some basic rules of interpretation. Perhaps the Chicago Statement on Hermenuetics can shed some light: "WE AFFIRM that the meaning expressed in each biblical text is single, definite, and fixed. WE DENY that the recognition of this single meaning eliminates the variety of its application. The Affirmation here is directed at those who claim a "double" or "deeper" meaning to Scripture than that expressed by the authors. It stresses the unity and fixity of meaning as opposed to those who find multiple and pliable meanings. What a passage means is fixed by the author and is not subject to change by readers. This does not imply that further revelation on the subject cannot help one come to a fuller understanding, but simply that the meaning given in a text is not changed because additional truth is revealed subsequently. Meaning is also definite in that there are defined limits by virtue of the author's expressed meaning in the given linguistic form and cultural context. Meaning is determined by an author; it is discovered by the readers. The Denial adds the clarification that simply because Scripture has one meaning does not imply that its messages cannot be applied to a variety of individuals or situations. While the interpretation is one, the applications can be many." Biblical Prophecy is one area where good men of God come to different conclusions as to what is meant.
