AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Savior], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life]. |
Bible Question: I am dealing with anxiety and I'm having a hard time geeting over things that people have said and done to me. What should I do? |
Bible Answer: Brian, The first thing you want to do is to have a relationship with the Lord and seek Him through His Word and prayer(if you haven't done so already). If not, I urge you to receive Christ as your Savior and Lord! You also want to have a proper view of how God looks at you. Consider that you are a "new creature" in Christ. 2 Cor. 5:17-19 tells us : "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation." We have to accept that people can and will hurt through their actions and words. This is an inescapable fact of life. The majority of times it is HOW we react that determines the impact that those actions have upon us. Scripture implores us in several passages in the NT to forgive others... as Christ has forgiven us ( Col. 2:13, 3:13, Eph. 4:32). To get over what others have said or done to us, it's important to acknowledge the truth. "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect." as Romans 12:2 instructs us. Lastly, consider the specific words of Philippians 4:6-7, "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Speaking the Truth In Love, BradK |
