121 | How do we know that we are truly saved? | 1 John 3:24 | kw5kw | 141652
There have been answers that actually point to scriptures, as the second part of the question referred to, and there have been answers that have taken 30 minutes of reading and re-reading to almost comphrend. I'm taking a simple answer. You KNOW you're saved when two things happen: 1) When you no longer have any guilty conscience from sinning. If you don't sin, you don't have a guilty conscience. This happens when you are following ALL of God's Commandments. 2) You have the "warm fuzzies" that the Holy Ghost, that is now living inside you, gives to you. I am trying my absolute best to "bounce my eyes" to avoid any sin that comes in through the # 1 portal of sin. It's hard, but it works! Avoiding any television show that has a hint of immorality... ie "Desprate Housewifes" all soaps, etc. Looking away during beer commercials (bikini twins). By doing these things I am trying my best to live in the 21st century and keep impure thoughts out of my life. (I was there, NO LONGER!) THANK GOD AND JESUS!!! Next, remove impure thoughts from your life. Don't just open a door for a woman so you can follow her 'wiggle'. Open to be courtious, not to oggle her rear. The eyes and mind are the two most important inputs of our body. Train them to do God's work and you can begin to live as God wants you to. Once you do this, the 'warm-fuzzies' become a part of your life, and you know you're saved. Personal experience has taught me this. Your friend with Christ. Russ |

I've got them, do you? I know God's in me, Do you? you want a verse, here's a couple: John 5:36 "But I have a testimony greater than that from John. For the deeds that the Father has assigned me to complete--the deeds I am now doing--testify about me that the Father has sent me. 5:37 And the Father who sent me has himself testified about me. You people have never heard his voice nor seen his form at any time, 5:38 nor do you have his word residing in you, because you do not believe the one whom he sent. 5:39 You study the scriptures thoroughly because you think in them you possess eternal life, and it is these same scriptures that testify about me, 5:40 but you are not willing to come to me so that you may have life. |

The "warm-fuzzies" that I speak of is the Holy Ghost inside me, making me feel all warm inside and He's hugging me from within. It's a hard feeling to describe other than "warm-fuzzies." If you don't know "warm-fuzzies" personally, maybe you should try to get a bit closer yourself. And, yes, It's VERY personal, my relationship with God! As far as some verses: Act 18:25 This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John. Rom 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. Rom 8:4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Rom 8:5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. Rom 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. Rom 8:10 And if Christ [be] in you, the body [is] dead because of sin; but the Spirit [is] life because of righteousness. Rom 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. Rom 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. Rom 8:15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. Rom 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: Rom 8:27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what [is] the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to [the will of] God. 1Cr 2:11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 1Cr 2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 1Cr 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and [that] the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? Rom 8:27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what [is] the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to [the will of] God. Rom 11:8 (According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day. Rom 12:11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; Rom 15:19 Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ. Rom 15:30 Now I beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ's sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in [your] prayers to God for me; 1Cr 2:4 And my speech and my preaching [was] not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: 1Cr 2:10 But God hath revealed [them] unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. 1Cr 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know [them], because they are spiritually discerned. 1Cr 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and [that] the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 1Cr 4:21 What will ye? shall I come unto you with a rod, or in love, and [in] the spirit of meekness? 1Cr 5:3 For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, [concerning] him that hath so done this deed, 1Cr 5:4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, to be continued... |

... continued 1Cr 5:5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. 1Cr 6:11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. 1Cr 6:17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. 1Cr 6:20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. 1Cr 12:7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. 1Cr 12:8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 1Cr 12:11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. 1Cr 14:15 What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. |

125 | How do we know that we are truly saved? | 1 John 3:24 | kw5kw | 141746
I spend at least 8 hours a day reading the Bible. Not just the New Testament, but The Bible. I minister to others. I know what it is like to be lost. I know what it is like to sin. I know what it is like to be found again. I know what it is like to be taken up by God and have the Holy Ghost enter into my body and stay there. I have died, and departed from my body. I have litterly been above the hospital bed and looked down on my body... my dead body lying there on the emergency room bed. I was put back into my body by God. I had a vision of the Trinity, The Father, The Son, and The Holy Ghost walked towards me. When they got to me, the Holy Ghost entered into me, and remained. Friend, I know I'm saved. I don't have to have scripture, to know that I'm saved. But here's one. 1Cr 14:15 What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. your brother in Christ, Russ |

Greetings Kalos, While there is good in all of the Scriptures, there is more to Christianity than just the scriptures. We mustn’t get lost in that. Using Scripture to make my point about using the Scripture. Jhn 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. Jhn 5:40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life. Jhn 5:41 I receive not honour from men. I debated on including the next verse: Jhn 5:42 But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you. We must remember why the Scriptures are here in the first place. They are here in order to teach us about God, Jesus the Christ and the Holy Spirit for all His Glory and Might. But, there is so, so much more to God. We must remember this. There is Wisdom, Proverbs 8, for instance. There is the Earth, Stars and Heaven, Genesis 1. Everything we look at, every person we talk to was created by God’s will, at God's will. We can’t forget that. We must think of God and how He affects each and every one of us every single day. Concerning faith, I think of Rev. Spurgeon’s sermon #317 ( http://www.spurgeon.org/sermons/0317.htm ) and his discourse on Faith. Daniel’s faith delivered him from the mouths of the Lions (Dan 6:7-28). The centurion’s faith allowed his servant to be healed. (Mt 8:5-13) Moses’ faith allowed him to free the Hebrew people and talk to God (The entire books of Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy). His (Moses’) lack of faith is also what kept him out of the Promised Land. Abraham’s faith allowed him to be the father of great nations. Noah’s faith allowed him to build the ark and escape the flood. (Both in Genesis) And, my faith in Jesus, as my Saviour and Lord, is how I know I’m saved. Your friend in Christ. Russ |

128 | How do we know that we are truly saved? | 1 John 3:24 | kw5kw | 141772
Greetings Pastor Glenn Oh, I'm very aware of 2 Tim 3:16. It's one of the verses that I first point to when I'm teaching the Bible to younger people. Did you read the Rev. Spurgeon's sermon? He has a great sermon on faith, and although he has references to passages in the sermon, in the body of the sermon proper he has no actual references to specific scriptures. At the beginning of the sermon he does reference one and only one verse: John 4:48. The Rev. Spurgeon was one of the greatest preachers to ever live (IMHO), and he didn't think it was necessary to footnote every though that he spoke about. (OH, if you print that sermon, it's 25 pages long.) 129 | How do we know that we are truly saved? | 1 John 3:24 | kw5kw | 141786
I came here to give an honest answer to how I felt when the Holy Ghost entered my body. When the Holy Ghost entered MY body the Holy Ghost (1Cr 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and [that] the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? )gave me a warm feelinging from inside my body that felt like a warm hug from within. Being that we're all Christians here, I didn't think, that every word I typed here needed a Scripture to back up everything I said. Then I gave an example of someone whom I admire (Rev. Spurgeon) who gave a sermon and used only one quoted scripture in the entire sermon, and once again I'm lambasted. I might remind you all of this: Mat 7:1 Judge not, that ye be not judged. Mat 7:2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. This was a lively discussion, but for me now I'm through with this thread. Your friend in Christ, Russ |

Thank you Pastor Glenn, I said I would be finshed with this thread. After your post I must respond favorably. Your are correct. I have a very 'Special' relationship with my Creator, My God! One that I cannot express in words, only in feelings. My feelings are ... just simply indescrible ... My examples are meant to show that I LOVE JESUS, my Lord, my Saviour! I have to express that feeling. In person I'd be able to express my feelings. In type, on the internet, it is very difficult to express feeling, only fact. Facts can be so cold sometimes, when my feelings are so warm. Your brother in Christ, Russ |

131 | is the archangel bad? | Jude 1:9 | kw5kw | 140755
Am I mistaken in thinking the archangel is bad? In Jude 1:9 "But Michael the archangel, when he disputed with the devil and argued about the body of Moses, did not dare pronounce against him a railing judgment, but said, "The Lord rebuke you!"" I was always under the assumption that the archangel was like the devil. Please help me on this |

132 | The Red Writing | Rev 1:1 | kw5kw | 141923
I was just thinking. In the OT why don't we have Blue, for instance, letters for what our LORD sayeth? ... Just a question.
133 | Christ Jesus testimony / Red writing | Rev 1:1 | kw5kw | 141924
You're right. But, Hank, you have to admit it (red lettering for Jesus' words) have helped you seperate what He said from that of what Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John had to say about the events. Or to find what he said to Paul in Acts chapter 9. It's another study tool. The red letters allow you to find what Jesus said faster.
134 | do angels sing? if so, what ch./verse | Rev 5:11 | kw5kw | 155739
Greetings Bows44, Hope you are having a good day. Eze 28:14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. I've been taught that there were four types of spirit beings that God created: 1. Archangel 2. Angel 3. Seraph (Seraphim) 4. Cherub (Cherubim) If (And I believe that this is talking about Satan, just as you do.) this is talking about Satan, then Satan wasn't an angel but a Cherub. The Cherubim were placed outside the garden of eden to guard it so Adam and Eve could not re-enter and eat of the tree of life. They are described in Eze 1:5-11 "Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; they had the likeness of a man. And every one had four faces, and every one had four wings. And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf's foot: and they sparkled like the colour of burnished brass. And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings. Their wings were joined one to another; they turned not when they went; they went every one straight forward. As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle. Thus were their faces: and their wings were stretched upward; two wings of every one were joined one to another, and two covered their bodies." This same discription is repeated in Rev 4:7-9. They Ride on and illustrate the magjesty of God 2Sa 22:11 and their wings sound like the voice of God Eze 10:5. In Rev 5, the beasts are cherubs. So if what you are refering to here as singing, then Cherub sing, but still not clear about the angels themselves. Your brother, Russ |
