121 | Why should women cover their heads? | 1 Cor 11:1 | Suede67 | 92032
Well Paul was perhaps the only author to expound on this somewhat. Covering a woman's head, during worship only, seems to be a respect thing. But we must remember too that Paul was noted in Galatians as being quite against legalisms. Personally I believe that we need to be humble and respectful at all times, but especially in worship. If this means head covering, so be it. If this means removing one's head covering, so be it as well. I think it's important that we worship God, not if our head is covered or not. Here's the verses, 1 Cor 11:13-16 Judge for yourselves: is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered? 14 Does not even nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a dishonor to him, 15 but if a woman has long hair, it is a glory to her? For her hair is given to her for a covering. 16 But if one is inclined to be contentious, we have no other practice, nor have the churches of God.
122 | what are the ot citations for Galations | Galatians | Suede67 | 117603
MinisterMay, This may not be exactly what you are looking for, but these are themes that Paul refers to in Galatians. The first set is the Gal chapter and verse, followed by the OT book/chapter/verse. If you want a more detailed list, you'll need to get a study Bible or a cross reference of some sorts. But the below list should be a good overview. 3:6 Ge 15:6 3:8 Ge 12:3 3:8 Ge 18:18 3:10 Dt 27:26 3:11 Hab 2:4 3:12 Lev 18:5 3:13 Dt 21:23 3:16 Ge 13:15 3:16 Ge 24:7 4:27 Isa 54:1 4:30 Ge 21:10 5:14 Lev 19:18 Take care, SUEDE |

124 | Why God's RIGHT Hand ? | Col 3:1 | Suede67 | 116057
Ken John, Paul is saying symbolically that Jesus has authority and power given to him by God. The right hand is symbolic for a position of authority and power. This is where we get the saying "his right hand man". It was common for kings and rulers to have someone at their right hand. If a king had a chief advisor, he would be to his right. SUEDE |

125 | John used the Book of Enoch? | 2 Tim 3:16 | Suede67 | 92245
Yes, the hands down best commentary is available on line, and in book form as well if you would rather have it on paper. It's "Days of Vengeance" by David Chilton. The best I've seen, and believe me, I've see a lot. See link below. Though not impossible that John saw and read the Book of Enoch, the only one that actually quotes it is Jude. 126 | When does millinium start?Where are we? | Revelation | Suede67 | 84361
So many different views on this, it would be hard to sum them all up in one post. In short there's three "main" views, PreMillennium, Amillennium, and PostMillennium. (I'm an Amill myself.) I would HIGHLY recommend R.C. Sproul's book called, "The Last Days According to Jesus." He's got a great chapter looking at the different views and just as important a look at parts of Revelation and the Olivet Discourse. Another book you can look at is this, "Three Views on the Millennium and Beyond" edited by Darrell Bock. It's got overviews of the three views by some well known supporters of each. Bear in mind though, that like all things, there will be views within those views, none are in stone, but you should get the jist of them. Lastly, there are of course stand alone books on each view indivdually. Take care, |

127 | tribe of dan | Revelation | Suede67 | 116099
Nob, You're correct in your belief. Dan is not mentioned in Revelation 7, but then again neither is Ephraim. Both Dan and Ephraim are noted for idolatry (Jdg 18:18,19; 1 Ki 12:29-30; Hos 4:17) and this probably explains why they are not included in the list that is selected and sealed by God. However, this does not mean they are forgotten or out of God's grace. Ezekiel 48 deals with the restoration, which makes the events in it coming AFTER the events of Rev 7. So there is no mistake here. Due to their past wickedness, none were to be selected and sealed from Dan (or Ephraim) in Rev 7, but after the restoration of all things, God forgives and grace shines upon Dan AND Ephraim once again. If anything, this is a show of God's great grace and love, it is hardly a 'mistake'. Take care, SUEDE |

128 | The truth in Revelation? | Rev 1:1 | Suede67 | 94721
The very short answer is John is saying that Jerusalem will be destroyed in a few years. Many in the church believe Revelation to be written in 90 or 95 AD. New research shows this to be incorrect. A better date is before 70 AD, sometime in the 60's. Note in 1:1 that the things listed in Revelation must SOON take place. And they did indeed! Take care, SUEDE |

130 | Did this war already occur? | Rev 12:7 | Suede67 | 116129
BStudent, In short, yes it did. You are wise to see the time indicator in verse 3. That's not the only one either. ββ¦to show to His bond-servants the things which must shortly take place.β (Rev. 22:6) "Behold, I am coming quickly. " (Rev. 22:7) "Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is near." (Rev. 22:10) "Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done.β (Rev. 22:12) "Yes, I am coming quickly." (Rev. 22:20) A belief that might be up your alley is known as Preterism, which believes in past fulfillment of prophecies. Take care, SUEDE |

131 | Did this war already occur? | Rev 12:7 | Suede67 | 116176
Emmy, This all happened around 70 AD when Jerusalem was sieged by the Romans. Look at Revelation and the Olivet Discourse found in Luke 21. They describing the same thing, only Jesus reveals much greater detail to John in Revelation. True that 1,000 years is but one day to the Lord, but not to us. In the Bible we have the Lord telling mortal men something. Jesus would not say I am coming quickly to mortals knowing full well that our lives are greatly limited. Here's a great example. Daniel was told to seal up his prophecy because the days were not near. Note, that's relative to him and mortal life. 6th century B.C: "Seal up the vision; for it shall be for many days." (Dan. 8:26) Interestingly though, John was told the opposite of what Daniel was told. 1st century A.D.: "Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is near." (Rev. 22:10) Now, Daniel was told to seal up his prophecies, but they would be fulfilled within roughly 500 years. But John was told NOT to seal up his prophecies and they haven't come to pass in 2,000 years? This is not good Biblical interpretation. God takes into account the mortality of fleshy man. Time indicators in the New Testament demand rapid fulfillment, within the 1st Century. Take care, SUEDE |
