121 | what is physical structureof the needle | Bible general Archive 1 | Norrie | 38054
"There has been a lot of false teaching that there is a gate in Jerusalem named the "eye of a needle" which is simply not true." I didn't know that. Hagee was wrong? It made so much sense too. Where did they get that from? |

122 | How did sin originate | Bible general Archive 1 | Norrie | 43926
You really need to read the Bible, that is pure fantasyland. At least you didn't have Satan being the father of Cain tho. :)
123 | Come as you are | Bible general Archive 1 | Norrie | 48583
Where's that scripture about dressing modestly too? I've heard them but don't know where they all are right offhand. :) I think it's great kids are in church but I've noticed many of the young ladies dress like they're going to a cocktail party (being nice). I do think that going braless and spaghetti straps is a little much for church and dresses up to the wazoo are a tad extreme in church too. My mother would have laid me out before I got out of the house dressed like that! |

I think the concept of come as we are refers to whatever condition you are in, come to Jesus. Then He cleans us up. I don't think it's referring to come to church no matter how tackily dressed you are, esp if you're a believer. I've noticed there are people who take sloppy to an artform coming to church or skimpy, I don't think that's appropriate. Even a poor person who doesn't have much can dress accordingly, as long as you're clean and modest. I don't think church should be a fashion show, but it shouldn't be a picnic place either. I went to a church one time that almost everybody dressed on shorts, Tshirts, flip flops, it seems you should have more respect for God than to come to church like that.
125 | Come as you are | Bible general Archive 1 | Norrie | 48589
We're supposed to be coming to church to worship the Creator of the Universe, it seems we should show Him some respect, not come looking like slobs or hookers. Oh well! That was the correct verse w/10 added in. :) Thanks! |

Own style or not, some situations call for appropriate attire, even for young people. :) Ones under parental control seems like they should have more parental control. :)
127 | Why is killing enimies in the OT okay? | Bible general Archive 1 | Norrie | 49922
I've heard most of the killing was because these were pagan worshipers and therefore was a lot of sexual immorality, including beastiality and they were disease ridden, thus the killings.
128 | Why is killing enimies in the OT okay? | Bible general Archive 1 | Norrie | 49925
I remember discussing that story in Sun school. He made a vow that God did not require him to make. God does not require human sacrifice, at least not the death/burnt offering kind. Jephthah was wrong to have made that uncalled for vow. He was wrong and kinda stupid. That's like someone saying Lord, let me get this job and I'll kill my dog or Lord, deliver me from alcohol and I'll never eat chocolate again, silly humans!
129 | thou hast left thy first love | Bible general Archive 1 | Norrie | 50937
We just had a sermon/Bible study on this last week. The Church at Ephesus lost their passion and being passionate is better than plain performance. The Ephesians had strong convictions, they were doing all the works, everything they were doing was right, they just lost their passion, they didn't have their "heart" in it, they were just doing what they were supposed to do w/o that fire or zeal.
130 | thou hast left thy first love | Bible general Archive 1 | Norrie | 50956
Basically. :) They were doing what they were supposed to be w/o the love/passion that you have when you're on fire, kinda like the couple married 30 yrs that just exist together, fires long gone, she still cooks and cleans, keeps house up and he still takes out trash and fixes cars, whatever is his chares, but last passion, just do it because it's what you do.
131 | Mark 16:16 what does it say? | Bible general Archive 1 | Norrie | 51010
Baptism is what we do to show obedience, not to get saved. It's like confirmation that we are saved.
132 | thou hast left thy first love | Bible general Archive 1 | Norrie | 51011
That is almost exactly what my pastor preached. :) You said it almost as good as he did but a whole lot better than me. He even brought up Martha and Mary too.

I believe that corprate prayer would be covered under where 2 or more are gathered in My Name. That is all praying in Jesus' Name. I think we can only be in communion w/the living, once someone is dead, we can't communicate with them even when they are in Heaven. Why would I want to ask my dead grandmother to pray for me when I can go directly to Jesus? She can't hear me anyway so I'm wasting my time in more ways than one. :)
138 | Is praying to created beings scriptural? | Bible general Archive 1 | Norrie | 62791
This could be interpreted as we will have access to God who is the divine nature, not that we get a divine nature, we will gain Heaven.
139 | Do you own a TNIV? | Bible general Archive 1 | Norrie | 69037
I personally don't like the NIV. My daughter has to use it for school. She has to memorize Eph 6 and it was so vague compared to KJV or NKJ that you had to really make a leap to understand it. I don't have one handy to look at but I remember the verse where it lists the principalities, it said authorities and my daughter thought policemen, that's how vague it is, didn't even realize it was talking about the demonic realms.
