121 | Jesus the Preacher | Mark 4:1 | ebrain | 173204
Read Mark 4:1, and Matthew 13:2, Jesus chose a location where there was a bay, and on shore the land sloped upwards forming a nutural part arena, He would then ask that the boat be taken out untill it was at the center of the curve formed by the shoreline. That is how it was done without using artificial amplification. He spoke in Aramaic, see Matthew 16:17, the word Bar is Aramaic for son, the Hebrew word is Ben. |

123 | help with understanding mark 7:27-30 | Mark 7:27 | ebrain | 163702
One of the reasons our Lord spoke to the woman in this way was to reveal that Gentiles were often found to have more faith in Him than His own kinfolk the Jews, who ought to have known better. |

124 | What does "remaining in Him" really mean | Mark 15:5 | ebrain | 179030
1Jo 3:9 every one who hath been begotten of God, sin he doth not, because his seed in him doth remain, and he is not able to sin, because of God he hath been begotten The above is "Young's Literal Translation", and as far as I am aware gives the correct interpretation of what John intended his readers to understand. I see no problem with this verse as I believe it to refer to the new nature that all christians have, and the new nature cannot sin, however, we all still retain the old nature as well, and that cannot do anything but sin. Paul recognized this problem, and describes it in some detail in Romans 7:14-25. His conclusion is "So then with the mind (the new nature) I myself serve the law of God, but with my flesh (the old nature) the law of sin". I trust this will be of help to you. ebrain. |

125 | Jesus laying down of His powers | Luke 5:22 | ebrain | 163297
Read Phil 2:5-13. Jesus limited himself to the limitations that we all have, so that he could show us how God intended us to behave towards the Lord in the first place. To find out just how this is done, see how he did it, by reading the following verses of Scripture. John 1:18. 5:19 and 30. 7:16-17. 11:41b-42. 14:8-11, especially verse 10. Acts 2:22. and John 20:21-22. Not my will, but thine be done. I hope that this is of help. May the Lord bless you, and keep you safe. Edwin Brain. |

126 | Can a Christian blaspheme | Luke 12:10 | ebrain | 178299
No it is not possible as the only way to become a christian is to believe the Holy Spirit's conviction of your sin, and your need to be saved. Only the unconverted can commit this sin, as they are calling Him a lier, and as a result will go to Hell. ebrain. |

127 | Matt 25:12 not know them?why | Luke 13:23 | ebrain | 164810
Have a look at Matthew 7:23. where Jesus says "I never knew you", whereas at 25:12 it is "I do not know you". In both cases He is saying, you do not believe in me, you are not saved. It is just His way of saying, I never entered your body in the person of my other self, the Holy Spitit. He is employing the Biblical use of the word "Know" as demonstrated at Gen 4:1, where it is written "Adam knew Eve his wife, and she concived", which refers to the entry by one person into the body of another person. |

130 | amplifeid bible of luke 17:34 | Luke 17:34 | ebrain | 163801
Read also Matt 24:40. in that part of the world where it gets very hot from mid day onwards, work outdoors was only done in the morning. Two in a field therefore refers to the morning, Two grinding at the mill refers to indoor work because it was too hot to do work outdoors, and Two in a bed refers to night. What our Lord is saying in fact is that when He returns (which will be at one moment in time), that because of the shape of our earth, it will be morning in one place, afternoon in another place, and night somewhare else. I hope that this is of some help to you. |

131 | father forgive them; they do not know | Luke 23:34 | ebrain | 170655
What do you require a sermon for? the words speak for themselves. It's the same today, the unconverted do not know what they are doing, nor do they understand Scripture, see 1 Cor 2:14. If the Lord choses to convert them, then that if a different matter. |

It is true that many christians are to some extent ignorant of our Lord's teaching, that however, is not what is happening here, Jesus is asking for forgivness for the ones who were killing Him, not however the Jewish Leaders, who knew full well what they were doing. |

133 | did jesus decend into hell and retriev | Luke 23:46 | ebrain | 167369
No He did not. the Scripture normally quoted to indicate that He did is 1st Peter 3:18-20, but this only refers to the Spirit of Christ in Naoh preaching to the people who were alive in Noah's day, but who are now in prison, see also 2nd Peter 2:4-5. Don't forget that Jesus said "It is finished" before He died, therefore no need to go to Hell. |

134 | Trinity | John 1:1 | ebrain | 160760
Understanding the Trinity is beyond human comprehention, however, the Lord does not require our understanding, but only that we take Him at His word, and believe Him. This we are able to do by exercising the gift of faith that He has given to each one of us. That is why Hebrews Ch 11 v 6, is so important. Matthew Ch 28 v 19, tells us to Baptize in the name (singular) not names (plural) of three persons. The Trinity is refered to right throught out Scripture, granted more so in the NT, but it is also found in the OT, let me give you just two OT, examples. Read Isaiah Ch 48 vs 12-16, but don't go all the way through v 16 just yet, read only the first two thirds of the verse, stop when you come to "I have been there". Now ask yourself the question, who is speaking?, the answer has to be none other that the LORD our God, read the rest of the verse and see who you think the first two thirds of this verse are refering to?. Look at Ex Ch 3 vs 6, 15, and Ch 4 v 5, three times He says "I am the God of three persons", and this He says three times, but v 16 of Ch 3 reads "the God of Abraham,of Isaac, and Jacob". The definate article "the" which is used three times in the other three verses is only used once in this verse 16, it is also the only verse of the four quoted above that includes "LORD". So there are 3 verses that indicate Trinity, whereas there is only one verse that indicates unity. |

135 | was Jesus "the Word"? | John 1:1 | ebrain | 165210
Jesus is indeed the Word, or perhaps better, the Word of God, that is to say, God's verbal declaration of Himself to man, as opposed to His written revelation of Himself, the Bible. You will find it helpful in this context to read John 1:18. 5:19, and 30. 7:16-17. 14:9-10. and Acts 2:22. Jesus is the vehicle through whom His Father was made visible, and spoke. What you must understand of course is that here we are considering Jesus's true humanity, and not His Deity. I hope this makes sense to you, if not, then just ask. Reconciling the Deity, and humanity of the second person of the Godhead, is one of the major problems that Bible students encounter. |

136 | how many unforgiven sins are there? | John 1:1 | ebrain | 167027
If you mean how many sins will not be forgiven, then the answer is only one, and this one can only be commited by a non christian, in other words if you have become a christian, then you have gone past the time in your life when it was possible to commit the unforgivable sin. The only way to become a christian is as a result of believing what the Holy Spirit tells you i.e. that you are a sinner, and are in need of salvation. If you accept His invitation to receive Jesus as your own personal saviour, then you will become a christian, but if you refuse, then you are calling Him a lier, and as a result will not be saved. In our Lord's day the unforgivable sin was to describe the Holy Spirit's work, as the work of the Devil, see Matthew 12:22-32, in our day it is calling the Holy Spirit a lier. |

137 | Why Jesus calls his mother as "woman"? | John 2:4 | ebrain | 186241
I believe the verse to which you are referring is. Jhn 2:4 And Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does this have to do with me? My hour has not yet come.” Jesus would be speaking in Aramic, and at that time some 2000 years ago, it would not be considered insulting, for Him to address His mother in that way,as it would be today. |

138 | Is the Rich Young Ruler Nicodemus? | John 3:1 | ebrain | 167915
At John 3:10, Jesus said "are you the teacher of Israel", i.e, a teacher of teachers. Nocodemus would have had a Rabnic teaching Collage, and that would mean he was at least 50 years old,
139 | what is being born again? | John 3:1 | ebrain | 177138
Exactly what it says it is, ie, born again refers to a second birth. Your first birth is spoken of at Luke 7:28, "Born of woman", this is how you get into the Physical world, the second birth is "Born of the Spirit", see John 5:5-6, this is how you get into the Spirital world. If further clarification is required, please ask. Every blessing. ebrain. |
