125 | Why ask about Jacob - Leah again? | Gen 29:30 | Searcher56 | 137033
Scripture ... Eph 5:22-33; Col 3:17-25 ......... On husbands loving their wives (read the context) Eph 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, Eph 5:28 So husbands ought also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself; Eph 5:33 Nevertheless, each individual among you also is to love his own wife even as himself Col 3:19 Husbands, love your wives and do not be embittered against them. "Will their prayers be hindered if they follow Jacobs example in his relationship to Leah?" ... I told you the Bible doesn't say his prayers were hindered. 128 | Is Deception Ever Justifiable? | Ex 3:18 | Searcher56 | 7700
Is this an example of a half-truth or a ruse intended to deceive Pharaoh? In other words, is Israel's request for a three-day wilder-ness trip to sacrifice to God only an excuse to leave Egypt in order to make a break for Palestine before Pharaoh's troops could easily follow? One further question might be posed here: Did not Moses, under the instigation of Yahweh, deliberately mislead Pharaoh when he concealed his real intention? If Moses ultimately intended to ask Pharaoh to release the Israelites, did not this concealment constitute a half-truth? Did God authorize deception, here or in 1 Samuel 16:1-3? In Exodus 1:15-21, did the midwives have the right to lie? In 2 Kings 6:19, did Elisha lie to the Syrians? |

130 | Are we free from KEEPING the Law? | Ex 20:8 | Searcher56 | 119436
Scripture ... Gal 3:23-26; Col 2:16-17 ... Gal 3:23 But before faith came, we were kept in custody under the law, being shut up to the faith which was later to be revealed. Gal 3:24 Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith. Gal 3:25 But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor. Gal 3:26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. Col 2:16 Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day-- Col 2:17 things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ. Where do these verses say "We are free from the Law" ... moreover, where in the NT does it say we are free from KEEPING the Law? |

136 | Mitch, How is this promise for you (all) | Ex 23:25 | Searcher56 | 146651
This is connecting your post 146631. To understand this promise you must read the context Read the whole chapter, but I will prove Tim is correct by one verse "For My angel will go before you and bring you in to the land of the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Canaanites, the Hivites and the Jebusites; and I will completely destroy them" (Exo 23:25). This verse and the whole context proves this is just for Israel ... unless you too are going into the land. Now you have 4 questions to answer. |

139 | Was this passage fulfilled B4 Christ? | Ex 23:25 | Searcher56 | 146824
Lissa, I am going to jump in. EdB's analysis and conclusion is NOT total heresy. I will prove you WRONG. Unless I misunderstand you. Not all the OT promises are fulfilled in Christ. For example, - Exodus 23 was fulfilled and complete when Israel was in the Promised Land. - "For all the land which you see, to you will I give it, and to your seed for ever" (Gen 13:14-15) ... was this fulfilled in Him? ... There is many more promises not fulfilled in Him. Shall I continue? Also, have other promises been fulfilled, yet (Psa 2:6-12, Zec 14:9,16)? I see Christ as King and not fulfilled, yet. Do you want more? Show me in the books of Job and Esther, where it "points to Jesus Christ and God the Father's work of salvation" ... make it the entire book. Searcher |
