Seven Reasons NOT To Ask Jesus Into Your Heart! by Pastor-teacher Dennis Rokser Have you ever heard someone say, "In order to be saved from hell and go to heaven, you need to ask Jesus into your heart"? Does this sound familiar? Have you ever read this on the back of tracts? Have you heard pastors or evangelists teach this? Though perhaps sincerely spoken and well-intended, is it biblically accurate to ask Jesus into your heart? Are those who have simply trusted Jesus Christ and His finished work alone not yet saved because they have not asked Jesus into their heart? On the other hand, do those who have asked Jesus into their heart truly possess eternal life because they have done this? Or is all this simply a matter of semantics? #1 Don’t ask Jesus into your heart because IT IS NEVER FOUND IN THE BIBLE. #2 Don’t ask Jesus into your heart because IT IS NOT HOW ONE IS SAVED. #3 Don’t ask Jesus into your heart because IT REQUIRES NO UNDERSTANDING OF THE GOSPEL OF GRACE TO DO IT. #4 Don’t ask Jesus into your heart because IT CONFUSES THE MEANS OF SALVATION WITH THE RESULTS OF SALVATION. #5 Don’t ask Jesus into your heart because IT EITHER RESULTS IN NO ASSURANCE OF SALVATION OR BRINGS A FALSE ASSURANCE TO PEOPLE. #6 Don’t ask Jesus into your heart because REVELATION 3:20 DOES NOT TEACH IT. #7 Don’t ask Jesus into your heart because IT DOES NOT CLARIFY THE CONDITION OF SALVATION, IT CONFUSES IT, ESPECIALLY WITH CHILDREN. What say ye? John |

102 | Acts 2:2 | 1 Cor 14:6 | hobbs | 172314
Dear Seacher, The following is from an article written by John MacArthur. "They had a lot of problems in Corinth: divisions, personality cults, cliques, moral compromise, and other desperate ills in the church. Carnality outweighed spirituality; sexual perversion, fornication, incest, adultery were being tolerated. Worldliness was there, materialism was in the church, church members were suing each other. There was rebellion against apostolic authority. There was marital conflict going on. The role of single people was misunderstood and misrepresented. Liberty was being abused. Idolatry was being practiced. Selfishness was rampant. Pride was widespread. Demon worship had come in. The church was abusing God's intention for the Lord's Table and the Love Feast. And in the middle of all of this, spiritual gifts were being perverted, misused and prostituted." "This is one corrupt church. The problem wasn't that they lacked spiritual gifts: 1 Corinthians 1:7, Paul said, "You are not lacking in any gift." It was how they fouled them up. So a major segment of that first letter, 1 Corinthians 12:13-14, directs itself at this terrible, terrible misuse of spiritual gifts. The Corinthians, like the Charismatics today, had tended to equate the Holy Spirits work with ecstatic involuntary frenetic and mysterious activity. And if it was inexplicable from the human level, they would say it was the Holy Spirit, even to the point that some people were cursing Jesus and they were saying it was the Holy Spirit because the phenomena seemed so bizarre. The wilder and the more agitated the person was, the more godly and spiritual he was supposed to be. They got to the point where in order for them to say it is the spirit, it had to be bizarre. Then there was the desire to be seen and the desire to appear as being spiritual. People were exploiting and perverting the gift of tongues particularly, and counterfeiting it with ecstatic babble that came out of their past paganism. They were confusing the work of the Holy Spirit with mystical practices they had known from their former pagan religion." (http://www.biblebb.com/files/MAC/CHAOS7.HTM) John |

103 | Authority to Ask God for One's Needs | Phil 4:19 | hobbs | 172296
Brother BBQ, the implication was that spiritual growth (training in faith) increases the possibility of prayer being answered according to our desires. Our prayers are always answered, and those answers are always given for our good...what we have to remember is that what we see as the best answer is not the necessarily the way God sees it. Rom 8:28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. John |

104 | Can non-Christians be in praise band? | 1 Corinthians | hobbs | 172294
If entertainment is what the people want.. what difference could it make? Hymns and spiritual songs that are sciptually based and that the congregation sings together, seem to be the biblical model. Col 3:16 Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God. Eph 5:19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord; Part of problem with our worship is that all too often we find ourselves praising and glorifying the Choir, Band, saxophonist, singer, preacher etc. Has God shown us in His Word what He considers to be pleasing in worship? Does it displease Him when we ignore His prescription in favor of what pleases us? Gen 4:5 but for Cain and for his offering He had no regard. God Help Us, John |

In my 10 years as a pentacostal, I never heard anyone pray in a foriegn language. It was always in some kind of gibberish. I thought that my own gift must have been an angelic language of some kind! But now I realize that it was my attempt to speak as others were demonstrating. That is...stringing a bunch of syllables together. (hasha kapta notey gabba foray ham a lapata phooey!) I apologize if any are offended by this note. I don't want to offend anyone. It's just that it is my desire to help others recognize false teaching. I would be happy to discuss "tongues" with any who may disagree. Let us explore God's Word together. I could be wrong! (but I don't think so) John |

106 | Authority to Ask God for One's Needs | Phil 4:19 | hobbs | 172287
Dear BBQ, Steven, the first Christian martyr, was stoned to death despite the fact that the Scripture describes him as a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit...Acts 6:5. If I understand your theology correctly, Stephen could have been set free and escaped execution if only he had exercised his God given faith. It is also a fact that of all the apostles John alone was not murdered! I cannot bring myself to believe that only one of the twelve had the kind of faith that produced such a miraculous escape from untimely death. Were all but John insufficiently "trained"? I'm sorry my friend, but apart from singling out a handfull of verses (without a word to their context) you fail to convince me of their application to your premise. I believed as you do at a time in my life, and I know where you are coming from. Indeed, had it not been for God's grace, I might still be entrapped in error. It is my prayer that God will grant you grace as well. In the grip of God's grace, John |

107 | "baptism of the Holy Spirit" | Eph 4:5 | hobbs | 172227
Eph 4:4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; Eph 4:5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism, Eph 4:6 one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all. Eph 4:7 But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ's gift. Dear Motengator, I see no reference to baptism in 1 cor 13 either. john |

108 | When was the separation of heaven/hell? | Gen 1:1 | hobbs | 172204
When Adam fell he was cast out of the Garden of Eden. When Satan fell he was cast out of Heaven. God did not create either Adam or Satan as wicked creatures, but each one chose to rebel rather than serve and glorify their Creator. John |

109 | through the spirit? | 1 Pet 1:2 | hobbs | 172105
Hello Seedling, You wrote: "So through the Spirit means trying our best to follow Christ by the help of the Holy Spirit. Right?" Please permit me to rephrase your question, and let me know if you agree. So, through the Spirit means that the help of the Holy Spirit causes us to strive to follow Christ. Do you see the difference? By relying on the Holy Spirit for His strength and power, we recognize our weakness and glorify Him for the gift power which He provides. James 1:17 Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow. God Bless, John |

110 | Freem will, why? | Deut 29:29 | hobbs | 171891
Adam and Eve were created with absolute freedom to obey God's command. But, after the fall they and their decendants lost the ability to attain perfect righteousness. Spiritual death reigned supreme over all they thought said and did. Gen 6:13 Then God said to Noah, "The end of all flesh has come before Me; for the earth is filled with violence because of them; and behold, I am about to destroy them with the earth. They were not created to be slaves to sin, but, God's just penalty stripped them of what should have been their birthright. Hobbs |

111 | Responsibility of faith | Rom 3:23 | hobbs | 171889
Dear BARBAQUED, "You asked "What becomes of the those who belive in God but do not accept the GIFT?" Mark 1:15 and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel." Belief apart from repentance is not a belief that saves anyone from God's wrath. faith and repentance are also part of God's grace. Hobbs |

112 | The need to recognize jesus as savior | Rom 3:23 | hobbs | 171885
Dear BARBAQUED, your answer is found in the Bible. I've included just a few verses out of the many. Rom 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Rom 3:12 ALL HAVE TURNED ASIDE, TOGETHER THEY HAVE BECOME USELESS; THERE IS NONE WHO DOES GOOD, THERE IS NOT EVEN ONE." Jesus Christ is the only exception! Heb 4:15 For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. Eternity apart from God is nothing to laugh about. Whether the firey torments are actual or figurative, believe me, those who will experience them will wish they had never been born. Hobbs |

113 | Is sacrifice requirement to christianity | Bible general Archive 3 | hobbs | 171586
Ah! theres the rub. I view all para church organizations with trepidation. I believe that they may be good-hearted and well intentioned, but unscriptural. Scripture alone should be our rule, and we must measure everything we say and do by God's Word. It is my prayer that God will be pleased to send us a new reformation. One that restores the gospel to the church and opens our eyes to the fruitless schemes of men who think that human institutions and organizations please and glorify our God. They do not! "No one doubts that many have been greatly blessed as a result of the parachurch. But in light of the testimony of the Scriptures to the sufficiency, function, efficacy, promises, gifts, offices, endurance, position, and potency of the church, one must wonder seriously why there even exists such an entity as the parachurch. What is needed beside the church?" I recommend the article from which the above quotation is it's closing statement. http://www.credenda.org/issues/15-3doctrine101.php |

114 | Is sacrifice requirement to christianity | Bible general Archive 3 | hobbs | 171565
Dear Jared, First of all, I must tell you that the only organization that has been tasked with preaching the gospel and for equipping the saints is the church! Matt 16:18 "I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it. I will pray for you and ask God to lead you to a church that teaches sound doctrine, where the gospel is proclaimed and Christ is lifted up. I did some looking into YWAM and found some information that was disturbing to me. The fact that Benny Hinn has preached his false doctrine to the youth of YWAM is beyond belief. Trust in Christ and realize that He will lead you and give you the strength to carry you throughout your life. God Bless you Brother |

115 | Blotted Out If We Reject Him | Rev 3:5 | hobbs | 171563
Dear Tim, V.5 is a compound sentence containing 3 promises for those who have overcome: 1. He who overcomes will thus be clothed in white garments. 2.I will not erase his name from the book of life. 3. I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels. My answer to your question is that the second clause is meant to bolster the assurance given in the first. A second reason may be found by asking: What does it mean to be an overcomer? 1 John 4:4 You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. This indicates to me that our ability to sucessully overcome, is not credited to us but to Christ who lives within the "little children. To God be the Glory, John |

Dear Max, one often hears the question, 'WHAT HAPPENS TO THE INNOCENT SAVAGE WHO HAS NEVER HEARD THE GOSPEL? The fact is that is no such thing as an "innocent" savage. Rom 1:20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. and Rom 3:9-18 What then? Are we better than they? Not at all; for we have already charged that both Jews and Greeks are all under sin; as it is written, "THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN ONE; THERE IS NONE WHO UNDERSTANDS, THERE IS NONE WHO SEEKS FOR GOD; ALL HAVE TURNED ASIDE, TOGETHER THEY HAVE BECOME USELESS; THERE IS NONE WHO DOES GOOD, THERE IS NOT EVEN ONE." "THEIR THROAT IS AN OPEN GRAVE, WITH THEIR TONGUES THEY KEEP DECEIVING," "THE POISON OF ASPS IS UNDER THEIR LIPS"; "WHOSE MOUTH IS FULL OF CURSING AND BITTERNESS"; "THEIR FEET ARE SWIFT TO SHED BLOOD, DESTRUCTION AND MISERY ARE IN THEIR PATHS, AND THE PATH OF PEACE THEY HAVE NOT KNOWN." "THERE IS NO FEAR OF GOD BEFORE THEIR EYES." John 6:43,44 Jesus answered and said to them, "Do not grumble among yourselves. No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day." John |
