101 | how can i get the powers of the holy spi | NT general Archive 1 | Ken hepting | 101048
mommapbs, I believe I may not have read your post correctly and wish to amend my remark. Col. 1:28 (KJV) [Christ] Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus: Col. 2:10 (KJV) And you are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power. You wrote in response: [Ken, I hear what you are saying "we are saved to be saved" BUT this is a concept that I just can't reconcile. The operative word that you have shared is "may" - I believe that this little word recognizes the sovereignty of God. God IS sovereign - He is Lord no matter what I believe. I trust Him with my soul as I trust Him with yours and those who have yet to know Him. mommapbs] Those two verses speak of Paul teaching,i.e., bringing into perfection, "born-again" individuals. So when I said "saved to be saved" is meant to imply that we are Justified to be Sanctified. Innocence to be Pure. "Complete to be Completed". What sin has wrought in us the Holy Spirit is given that we [might] overcome, by pushing to the perify of our souls, all that is not of Christ by vurtue of the new birth. In this way is the kingdom of God made known to us. The Church is given the task of nuturing. It is the example set for it by Mary, by the Holy Spirit. Our individal resposibilties have to do with building ourselves up in the Faith of Christ. 1 Corth 14 speaks of how this is accomplished along with studying the scriptures that we guage/measure our progress and accuracy. Acts 2 is the beginning of this journey and it is a journey that is never complete until we see Him. Hopefully He will greet us with "Well done, good and faithful [full of Faith] servant". Keep in mind this verse in mind: Hebrews 2:10 (NASB) For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, *[to perfect the author of their salvation through sufferings]. *This is to perfect Christ in them. Hope this helps, encourages, and challenges everyone who claims Christ. May I suggest reading 1-2 Peter and 1 John before responding. As a matter of fact maybe all of the Epistles......;) |

[Since you are not correct, we'll have to move on to something else.] That will be tough to do, Steve, since it is foundational to anything that follows. |

103 | how can i get the powers of the holy spi | NT general Archive 1 | Ken hepting | 101088
No...How can that be when He said to them "RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT". Nowhere is it written that that was symbolism. To the contrary that was the first time anyone was "Born Again"; The "indwelling" took place at that momment. Acts 2 was the "Coming upon" of the Holy Spirit; the receiving of the "priestly garment" typified in Ezek. 44; the "Promise of the Father"; the "Paraclete-Another Helper-Comforter" spoken of by Jesus. Again I ask you, What were the instructions given in Acts chapter 1? And wasn't it spoken to those who were ALREADY INDWELT by the Holy Spirit? In case you didn't realize it there are Three manifestions of the Holy Spirit. |

[Now I repeat: 1 Cor. 12:13 For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body. If this isn't baptism with the Holy Spirit, then what is it?] The baptism into the Body of Christ. It is NOT the baptism of Acts 2 but rather John 20.22. |

Acts 2:3 (NASB) And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves, and they rested ON EACH ONE OF THEM. Acts 19:6 (NASB) And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came ON THEM, and they began speaking with tongues and prophesying. Acts 11:15 (NASB) "And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit FELL UPON them, just as He did upon us at the beginning. No "indwelling", here. |

[The Holy Spirit came upon them (Acts 2:3), filled them (Acts 2:4), and baptized them (Acts 1:5). How could they not have been indwelt at that time?] They had to be...they were before hand. John 20.22, remember? |

107 | why did'nt GOD accept CAIN'S offering? | Genesis | Ken hepting | 100183
[3) Cain didn't offer God his best and choicest fruits he just gave him any ole thing] If I had to make a guess I would choose this one. It couldn't be #2 because God received grain offerings later on. #1 is out in my book because not enough was revealed to them about the "blood" and what it stood for.. This is a good question and needs to be compared with Esau and Jacob. Was it just God's good pleasure that He picks and chooses or does He really choose based on a knowledge of the choices He [already knows] we will make? |

108 | why did'nt GOD accept CAIN'S offering? | Genesis | Ken hepting | 100184
A little more here: The [Bible says] fear and knowledge of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. If we fear and know we should be wise in the choices we make. This is every man's a gift called "understanding". God knows who will choose in His direction and directs his steps. Others have their understanding, clouded....And then there was Pharoah. |

109 | Why did Adam grow old? | Gen 1:27 | Ken hepting | 100956
"The Bible declares that the wages of sin is death". Do you think Adam would have grown old if he had not sinned? Be thinking before you answer because this is not an easy question to answer. I guarantee it will challenge you if you have an open mind and are seeking God as Father....That last line is a hint.
110 | Why did Adam grow old? | Gen 1:27 | Ken hepting | 100967
[After the fell of man the sickness and death comes in this is the reason why God drove them away from eden because if they eat the tree of life they will leave forever.] Why the need to eat of the tree of life if they never sin? |

111 | Why did Adam grow old? | Gen 1:27 | Ken hepting | 101136
I understand but I'm not speaking of the tree of knowledge of evil and good but the "tree of life". They could always have eated of that tree. Ever wonder why they didn't? |

112 | Why did Adam grow old? | Gen 1:27 | Ken hepting | 101210
Why not? God was after a human family, wasn't He? What did Lucifer have to do with it? I would guess it was because of Lucifer that He did.
113 | Why did Adam grow old? | Gen 1:27 | Ken hepting | 101299
[Adam would have grown old ... he was aging, since man is noted by time.] I agree with you, though I didn't see it that way until recently.[I really didn't think anout it much] But having seen that in that light supports my belief that Adam was intended to be our role model, reaching a point in time when God would have transfigured him. I know that raises another question, "what about Christ". I can believe Adam would have been the "Word" made flesh. Your thoughts? |

114 | Why did Adam grow old? | Gen 5:5 | Ken hepting | 100951
"The Bible declares that the wages of sin is death". Do you think Adam would have grown old if he had not sinned? Be thinking before you answer because this is not an easy question to answer. 115 | Why did Adam grow old? | Gen 5:5 | Ken hepting | 100966
If living forever wasn't a problem, accompanied by "growing old", why was there a tree of life in the garden whereby had they eaten they would have? How is it that Jesus grew old? He was without sin. Was there perhaps a point in time where they would have stopped getting old [in appearance]? If so what point in time would that have been, in your estimation? |
