461 | An Arminian Consensus in the Forum? | 1 John 2:2 | Ken hepting | 100709
I've stated this in another thread using others words. It makes a lot of sense since Jesus died for all in the world. I think in reverse when I say all are saved as a consequence but damnation comes in when you are told about Jesus and you walk away from it. John 9:41 (KJV) Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth. |

Try these out. John 15:22 (KJV) If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin. John 15:24 (KJV) If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father. Proverbs 26:12 (KJV) Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit? there is more hope of a fool than of him. |

464 | An Arminian Consensus in the Forum? | 1 John 2:2 | Ken hepting | 100995
[I asked you a question. You gave me more verses. So, again, I ask you: Ken, are you saying that these passages teach that a man is saved and sinless until he hears the gospel and must choose or reject Christ?] If I would have given my opinion you would have asked for scripture to back it up. I gave you scripture first. Now what do you think it says? |

465 | An Arminian Consensus in the Forum? | 1 John 2:2 | Ken hepting | 101086
Playing games!!? I'm as serious as a heart attack!! I gave you verses that were very clear to anyone with understanding. Jesus said those words, not me. NOW..what do you think He meant by them. Again He was clear, why ask me? ...Not that you should have to think about it? FWIW, Paul reiterates it in Romans. |

This is correct but needs enlargement; to be expanded because it's incomplete. ...Later Ken |

467 | An Arminian Consensus in the Forum? | 1 John 2:2 | Ken hepting | 101114
[If you think it is incomplete, I am afraid you are trying to add to grace and therefore you don’t understand what I was saying in the first place because the Lord hasn’t revealed it to you yet, and that’s not my responsibility but the work of the Holy Spirit.] [mumblying to myself]...another who can't read. |

I don't believe mom's verse she offers has to do with salvation unto eternal life, Justification, but more becoming unto Father that which Jesus modeled for us, i.e., Sanctfication. 10:9? "if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;" Confessing Him with the mouth is a given but the connotation seems to be that it must be an on going demonstration of Christ in ones life. Perserverance needed here [see Peter.] Ephesians 2:8-10? "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. Saved to be saved. We have examples of people being healed by Christ [coming to Him] because of their own faith..in what they have come to believe He can do. Here is a list of ref. concerning faith. It is a mixture of verses that speak of the person's own faith and the faith of Christ that is within others mentioned. It's easy to mistake both faith's as being one and in a sense they are. But with careful exegesis it can seen that there are distinctions that are clearly there that they be one or the other when all of scripture pertaining to salvation and then becoming a son context is observed/retained. An example would be the "faith as a grain of mustard seed". Its clear me that that speaks of His faith [His faith equals the mind and power of God], not mine. So now if we read it that way it makes sense. My faith would be only "soul power", an excercise in conjurying. Christ Jesus IS the FAITH that Paul lived by, not his own. His own faith was just stayed on Christ. Christ did all the rest. A "mustard seeds" worth was more than enough. Continued..... |

Matthew 18:8-9 (KJV) Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire. John 16:1 (KJV) These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended. Romans 1:8 (KJV) First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world. Romans 10:10 (KJV) For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 11:20 (KJV) Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Col. 2:7 (KJV) Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. 1 Thes. 1:3 (KJV) Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father; 1 Thes. 1:8 (KJV) For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak any thing. 1 Thes. 3:2 (KJV) And sent Timotheus, our brother, and minister of God, and our fellowlabourer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith: 1 Thes. 3:5-7 (KJV) For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour be in vain. [6] But now when Timotheus came from you unto us, and brought us good tidings of your faith and charity, and that ye have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you: [7] Therefore, brethren, we were comforted over you in all our affliction and distress by your faith: 1 Thes. 3:10 (KJV) Night and day praying exceedingly that we might see your face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith? 2 Thes. 1:3 (KJV) We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth; 2 Thes. 1:11 (KJV) Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power: 2 Tim. 1:5 (KJV) When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also. 474 | Receive? | 1 John 2:2 | Ken hepting | 101349
What does this verse mean to you, Tim, and can you see application in your argument that man does always have a freewill? 1 Cor. 14:32 (NASB) and the spirits of prophets are subject to prophets; Notice they are not subject to God. Elseware it is seen where men can fall away. Fall away from what? After becoming what? Ken |

475 | Receive? | 1 John 2:2 | Ken hepting | 101357
I'm with you on your position, this one anyway...:0)) You a Nazarene and me a Pentecostal, I'm sure we could come up with a difference of opinion here and there. But no, your responses have been excellent, more than I would have thought of. The verse I offered I remember from my experiences in the Holy Spirit and the ability we have in quenching Him thus "Thwarting" His purpose for the moment or messing up some specific opportunity by not responding to His urgings. I know that to be real not only in my own life but the lives of others who have been there. If the Spirit is subject to the prophet [1Cor.14.37] that means the prophet has the mind of God and but has option NOT to speak it. Of course there are reasons why one wouldn't. See Balaam and the donkey. I don't wish to resurrect the thread but suffice to say it's a "freewill" thing through and through. Can't be any other way and call it God's love. Regards, Ken |

What in the world are you saying!!? Satan's agents lodging where, in the kingdom of God!!? Read Lu.13 again, for the first time: 18 Then said he, Unto what is the kingdom of God like? and whereunto shall I resemble it? 19 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and cast into his garden; and it grew, and waxed a great tree; and the fowls of the air lodged in the branches of it. |

477 | How would you make textual decisions? | 1 John 5:7 | Ken hepting | 99839
What you are claiming is that a reading (1 John 5:7-8), which is found in only four late manuscripts, should be included in the text of the Bible, even though thousands of earlier manuscripts do not include it. How do you reach that decision? On what basis should anyone reach this conclusion? 1. It is truth 2. And since it is how do you know there wouldn't have been agreement from the earlier writers? From the text, held in context, can you envision a difficulty? Sounds inspired to me. |
