102 | Job 1.6 - God's court | Job 1:1 | G. Preston | 231503
If you mean "his"..satan's...NO! Satan is allowed to attack...ONLY...should an act fits G-d's plan for that person. The magnitude/level of attack is determined by our Father. Study Job 1;7 and two further episodes in following chapters of Job....demonstrating this point. |

103 | no joy,no strength | Job 1:1 | G. Preston | 231507
Your experience is heart wrenching...at least. May I suggest you study the book of Job. While doing that be keenly aware that G-d said Job was ..."a perfect servant"....to my knowledge the only one G-d made that level of reference about in the Bible. Remember, G-d tells us that he will not allow us to be tempted beyond what we can handle...with His help thru prayer. He even tells us we may have to give our life itself for following him. Also remember it is satan's effort to thwart our following of Christ. There are good christian social counselors which can help. Seek them out. Stay resolute in Christ to the end. |

104 | 1. Is God sovereign? 2.) Free Will? | Job 1:8 | G. Preston | 233071
If G-d pre-determined our spiritual destiny then why did He have Christ to give His life on the cross...for what reason? G-d created Satan to give you and I a choice between.... good and evil...simple as that. We must make a discerning judgement of the two. You will note that G-d controlled application and extent of Satans' power with Job. G-d does not have to justify/compensate in any way for what He allows to happen. Mysterious as it may seem at times to you and I, His plan is righteous. |

Doc, You will note that I did not quote the Bible. However, do you differ from that conclusion...if so please share with us....how? Surely, you don't disagree with the conclusion that G-d created everything. |

LOL I give all respect to G-d. |

107 | Why does God respect Satan's opinion | Job 1:8 | G. Preston | 233092
Finder, I don't think G-d was asking satan for an opinion. We should keep in mind that G-d asked other folks questions thru out the Bible. All, while he knew what was in their hearts. The encounter with satan concerning Job was no different. I submit what G-d allowed Job to endure (not...caused) was for His work which could include the following reasons; 1) He knew Job would not forsake his position and wanted that demonstrated to the world regardless of satans' attack; 2) He ....'may choose' ....not to know the depth of our commitment and wants it continuously demonstrated, thus He allowed Job to be tribulated. In Bible history and even today we see Christians paying a price. The Bible tells us we may go thru tribulations as we follow Christ during this physical life. G-d works in mysterious ways(to us)but, it is righteous. |

108 | Why does God respect Satan's opinion | Job 1:8 | G. Preston | 233095
Tim Moran, I believe you are correct. I am not sure you or I have the ability nor should we try to explain G-ds methods and I don't believe He expects us to. Just witness according to His word is ours to do. |

Important point...well done.
110 | 1. Is God sovereign? 2.) Free Will? | Job 1:8 | G. Preston | 233099
I don't believe I ask that question in your cvontext..."who pre-determined our spiritual destiny"...? If so, please point it out to me.
111 | 1. Is God sovereign? 2.) Free Will? | Job 1:8 | G. Preston | 233100
Doc, Can't give you a Biblical reference. It comes from what I refer to as.... general common sense. If you wish to reject that assertion...please give me your opinion of why G-d created satan? |
||||||
112 | 1. Is God sovereign? 2.) Free Will? | Job 1:8 | G. Preston | 233102
accepted...thank you.
113 | 1. Is God sovereign? 2.) Free Will? | Job 1:8 | G. Preston | 233103
Doc, I know of no scripture per se. There are many/many general references to G-d's creations. It is not a sweeping doctrine. Such would be used to address a response where such a position replaces long held scholarly interpretation. I know of no such interpretation/position...do you? G-d hardly needs to explain His actions to us. Thus, one of the reasons for..."Faith"! |

114 | 1. Is God sovereign? 2.) Free Will? | Job 1:8 | G. Preston | 233104
Doc, Apology not necessary. I give no equal respect (there is no basis under which I would do such) when referencing G-d. G-d stands alone in my reverence. |
||||||
115 | Why does God respect Satan's opinion | Job 1:8 | G. Preston | 233106
Tim, Point well emphasized. No one should try. I am convinced G-d had the Bible written the way it is to foster study,debate,discussion,etc. But, one thing is crystal clear....how we are to prepare ourselves and live in order to receive eternal salvation. It is not ours to explain G-ds' actions. |

116 | 1. Is God sovereign? 2.) Free Will? | Job 1:8 | G. Preston | 233107
Searcher, LOL... study of all history tells me that scholars and sect leaders are not always correct and their positions must be considered in view of their motovation and objectives. Where Bible doctrine is absent from understanding....how does one reach a conclusion? I don't share your thought that common sense is "dangerous and foolishness" ..even when it comes to Bible study. Example, many believe the 2nd advent of Christ is when the rapture occurs. They opine the Bible is not totally clear. However, common sense tells me that the 2nd advent of Christ will not be for a split second, a blink of the eye ...if you will..and then His presence on earth ends. That does not pass the application test of common sense for purpose. |

117 | 1. Is God sovereign? 2.) Free Will? | Job 1:8 | G. Preston | 233112
Doc, I suggest when incomplete quotes are used it is out of context and can be misleading. In context the quote would be; "If you wish to reject that assertion...please give me your opinion of why G-d created satan?" Am I to conclude that you reject the assertion? I can address your additional commentary later. |

118 | 1. Is God sovereign? 2.) Free Will? | Job 1:8 | G. Preston | 233115
Azure, Scriptual support is contained in the Bible which clearly delineates...."G-d as Creator of all". That is basic to belief in G-d. I don't believe in responding to everyone as if they know nothing of the Bible...it is often received as.... demeaning. |

119 | Will we be young in heaven? | Ps 51:5 | G. Preston | 232151
I am not aware the Bible speaks of age. However, it does address environment...serene...no pain, no illness, no death, happy, restful, peaceful, beautiful, no sin and eternal. I don't see age as being important. Remember we will all have new, immortal bodies. When we apply the above into a mental picture I think it is fair to say it is inviting and a place we should all want to be. Don't you? |

120 | When did Lucifer fall? | Is 1:1 | G. Preston | 231476
See Isaiah 14,12,1-32 Luke 10,18, Exekel 28, 13,14,15,16. Jude 6. If you are looking for a time frame when Lucifer and part of his angels were thrown down from Heaven I am not aware that the Bible gives us that. It appears that Lucifer is the only Angel that had his own group of angels assigned to him. It is interesting to note that Lucifer to earth as Satan never had his great powers removed ....just controlled. We see that in the book of Job when G-d contained Satans' level of power application as it would affect Job. |
