101 | Don't understand Revelation and 1 Cor 15 | 1 Cor 15:28 | azurelaw | 228281
Dear biblicalman, I, like many of the users (I believe), have experienced with this many times. My suggestion would be that either you prepare your post in a word file, or before you go back to modifiy your post, you use the 'copy' function on your content, so that even your draft is disappeared, you still can secure it by pasting it again to the posting box. Thus your post can be secure. Shalom Azure P.S. It happened again when I prepare this post and I can secure my answer with the 2nd method :-) |

102 | Overseer and his sheep | Acts 20:28 | azurelaw | 228210
"... sheep are not at all the clean and cuddly creatures they may appear. In fact, they are dirty, subject to unpleasant pests, and regularly need to be dipped in strong chemicals to rid them of lice, ticks and worms. They are also unintelligent, wayward and obstinate. I hesitate to apply the metaphors too closely and characterize the people of God as dirty, lousy or stupid! But some people are a great trial to their pastors (and vice versa). And their pastors will persevere in caring for them only if they remember how valuable they are in God's sight. They are the flock of God the Father, purchased by the precious blood of God the Son, and supervised by overseers appointed by God the Holy Spirit." – John Stott
103 | Is the May 21 rapture real? | NT general | azurelaw | 227962
Amen! Never cease speaking the Gosple to OURSELVES, to OUR BRETHEN, and to the LOST. The Gospel should not be only spoken to the lost, but also to believers. We (believers) should preach it to ourselves day and night. We live and die for the gospel, for Jesus is the Gospel. Mark 1:15 and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel." Mark 8:35 "For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel's will save it. Shalom Azure |

105 | God turns back on individuals? | Rom 11:5 | azurelaw | 227568
Dear humble, I am sorry that the discussion could have sidetracked the original question and I don't want to make it head to emotional as Pastor Beja has reminded us. You are absolutely correct that : God is Love, Jesus is love. But be careful that Love is not both...and Love is NOT God. It is a simple logic. 1 Cor 13 has a very detail description of what love is...there does not say love is God/love is Jesus/love is both. Nor can we find any verse in the Bible stating so. I would like to commend you the book "The Difficult Doctrine of the Love of God" - D.A. Carson. In chapter 4, he talks about God's love and God's wrath. Only when we rightly understand God's justice, holiness and wrath, we will understand and be amazed by his deep and immeasurable Love. Shalom Azure |

107 | God turns back on individuals? | Rom 11:5 | azurelaw | 227558
Dear humble, Roman 11:5 you cited clearly indicated that there are some that God does not choose. How would you reconcile this with your answer "no"? I think we should be careful not to take scripture out of its context. To the question, I would say "yes" and "no". God is Sovereign, Holy, Just and of course Love. He hates sin. We, as sinners, always under His wrath (John 3:36). We are condemned already and are hopless. Do a word search on "wrath" from the Bible Text box, you will find a bunch of scriptures describing God's wrath. The only way that we can escape from God's wrath is through His Son Jesus Christ. This is the only way He planned to exercise His saving grace and Love on sinners (Rom 5:8). He [Jesus] is our only hope and our only shelter. Read also Roman 8:28-30 and chapter 9. Shalom Azure |

112 | The Hubris Moral Perfectionism | Job 22:29 | azurelaw | 226202
Dear Brother Doc, Wow, thank God for J. C. Ryle. 1 Cor 13:12 "...we see in a mirror dimly..." comes to mind (excuse me for taking it out of context). Isn't it interesting that people will usually regard the image/vision being seen through a softly veiled lens perfectly beautiful and spotless (as is the method used in photographing)? By creating such an illusion, most people are willingly and happily deluded. Shalom Azure |

116 | On what aspect it is enough | Rom 10:10 | azurelaw | 226119
Dear EdB, Thank you very much for responding and I am sorry for my late reply due to being pretty much occupied for the Chinese Lunar New Year Holidays. As I have stated, my concern is that we must preach the whole gospel despite the patient (who has never heard of the gospel) seemingly die in the next second. For we really don't know how much time God gives him. If he belongs to God's Elect, I am sure God will prolong his life till the full message been preached...it is His Time, His Way afterall. We are just His vessel required to be faithful and loving. Concerning the thief on the cross next to Jesus, though the gospel record shows that Jesus had not preached the full gospel to him on the spot, yet, from what the thief said in Luke 23 (confess of his sin in V40-41 and put his trust in Christ in V42), I think it reasonable to surmise the thief heard about Jesus and His preaching before. Please do not read me as being argumentative or seeing highly of myself in preaching the Gospel. I just worry that while we are so passionate in preaching the Gospel, we (unintentionally) want to buy time for God and "think" we are more zealous than Him that we waterdown (making it not so offensive) the message for getting the person "saved" [In other word, wouldn't it be too arrogant to do so in that we do not rightly handle His Word?]. Hope I have made myself clear. Shalom Azure |

118 | Scripture dealing with depression | Jeremiah | azurelaw | 226024
Dear eklmattke, Well, this is a study Bible forum. So, if brother Doc's "opinion" (as you termed it) is in line with the scripture and demonstrates a sound exegesis, this is not just some mere "opinion". We must be careful when we post our reply in public especially when we deal with God's Holy Word. (please reread the TOU of the forum) My feedback to your earlier post 226012 which you said "...because they are comforted knowing that God has plans and a future for them", : May I ask What kind of a plan or future that God has if the person is NOT a believer? Shalom Azure P.S. Most of the time we ignore the most needful lecture just because we do not request it. (Prov 12:15) |
