1002 | Desire for GOOD? | Hebrews | azurelaw | 180546
Brother CDBJ, Your words are touching indeed. Yes, Jesus - the silent Lamb, could be silent no more at the moment when he was forsaken by God his father for our sin. How could we understand! How could we understand! I always have a kind of mixed feeling during Christmas and Easter. Partly joyful (for we are saved and reconciled with God through Jesus) and partly grieved for how Jesus has suffered for us - sinners. We - Chinese, have a saying like "Your pleasure and happiness should not be in the expense of other's misfortune and grief" How ironically is that our hope and salvation is totally depended on Jesus' suffering, death and resurrection. Jesu, joy of men's desiring... Shalom Azure |

Dear Tim, Glad to have you on this forum. Yes, it is sky-blue, my favourite colour. I am happy to see that while most of the teens now are pursuing their lives in the worldly joy and lusts, you are devoting yourself to studying the word of God. What a blessing! I would like to encourage you persevere it. Don't give up. It would be a long and hard road but surely blessed with God's grace abundantly. Matt 19:27 Then Peter said to Him, "Behold, we have left everything and followed You; what then will there be for us?" 28: And Jesus said to them, "Truly I say to you, that you who have followed Me, in the regeneration when the Son of Man will sit on His glorious throne, you also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 29: "And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or farms for My name's sake, will receive many times as much, and will inherit eternal life. 30 "But many who are first will be last; and the last, first. I always remind myself with verse 30. Shalom Azure |

1005 | Genesis 3:16-17 | NT general Archive 1 | azurelaw | 180453
Dear Jeff, Thank you for your kind words. I also admire your ability to explain or elaborate the context of scriptures in an easy and readable manner. I feel ashamed of myself that I might have spoilt this master's (Mr. Lewis) work due to my poor translation. (Hope he will forgive me in heaven) That's why I have mentioned that someone on this forum will be able to provide the original as I read in the past posts, there are fans of Lewis here. I think I should not content myself with the Chinese edition and I certainly need to buy an English copy. Shalom Azure |

Ephesian 5:22-30, Paul had given us the idea of how men and women relate in Christian marriage. C.S. Lewis, in his book "The Four Loves" Chapter 4 - eros, did comment that only when the husband sacrifice himself to and love his wife as what Christ did to the church, the husband should claim himself the head of the wife. (Sorry, I have only got a Chinese version this book. Therefore, I cannot quote exactly the wordings of Mr. Lewis'. I trust someone on the forum is able to provide the oringal quote.) God bless Shalom Azure |

Thanks Jeff, They are helful indeed. Can you explain to me "...because of the angels" (1 Cor 11:10)? I have no idea what did Paul mean on these few words in relation to former verses when I read this portion. Shalom Azure |

1009 | Whats a womens place in the Church? | 1 Tim 2:12 | azurelaw | 180348
Dear Steve, Then, did Seth bear the image of God since Adam was made according to the image of God? Do you mean that before Adam's eating of the forbidden fruit, God's image was still reflected on him. However, after that, Adam beared no more of God's image but just a sinful image. Thus, Seth (since he was born after the fall) beared only the image of Adam? Thanks in advance for your elaboration Shalom Azure |

Dear Steve, Seth bears the image of God as we all do. Did I miss anything? Kindly advise. I am learning. Shalom :) Azure |

1011 | Whats a womens place in the Church? | 1 Tim 2:12 | azurelaw | 180304
Dear 2Tim215, Thanks for your response. Yes, you are right that Gen 2:21-24 talks about man and woman become one in flesh. However, don't forget that out of Adam, Eve was made; which means Eve was in fact part of Adam. Adam was made in the image of God. Therefore, both Adam and Eve attribute to the image of God. For my part concerning degree of importance on the appearance and inner organs of a person, I just want to say that male just like the appearance of a person though getting most of the attention, but female (as the inner organs)is regarded with equal importance even though it seems to gain less notice. Hope I have explained it clear. Shalom Azure |

Dear 2Tim215, It's easy. You just need to type the key word you remember in the search box on right hand side the "Get Bible Text". It will do the searching for you. I always use it. It is really good. Hope you enjoy sharing God's word in this forum. Shalom Azure |

1013 | Whats a womens place in the Church? | 1 Tim 2:12 | azurelaw | 180290
Dear wiley, Is it necessary to have a woman writing a book (or books) in order to show God's putting equal weight on both sexes? Does it need to quantify the deeds of each sex on a balancing scale to prove God's justice? Isn't it that God's view on the two sexes as one flesh? (see Gen 2:21-24) Do you think the appearance (the visible part) of a person that usually draws much attention is more important than his internal organs (the hidden part) or vice versa? Shalom Azure |

1014 | ARE WE MARIED | 1 Cor 7:1 | azurelaw | 180220
Dear Hank, I give you my big big smile :) :) Yes, maybe that's why people excuse themselves from learning the Truth. Heb 4:12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Shalom Azure |

1015 | ARE WE MARIED | 1 Cor 7:1 | azurelaw | 180166
Dear Jeff, I do respond to your post :). You say: ... our faithful walk with God is guided by what is taught, not what is missing. It echoes with my pastor's comment which once made on people who excuse them from reading the bible for the reason of that they do not understand it. He said that there must be some that you understand. Just do what you understand and that would be more than enough for keeping you busy in your walk with Jesus. Shalom Azure |

1017 | Matthew 12:43-45 | Matt 12:44 | azurelaw | 180130
Dear minister summers, Thanks for your input. I do believe that when a TRUE believer convert, the Holy Spirit is indwelt with him and there could not be a room for demon. When putting together what Jesus said on the last statement in verse 45 and earlier verses about the Pharisee's comment on Jesus and His diciples, the picture is rather clear to me that Jesus is rebuking the Pharisee's hypocritic demands and teachings on one's behaviour and following the law - a kind of self-reformation. That is why Jesus commented "evil generation" in verse 45 instead of a single person. Thanks again kalos and minister summers. Shalom Azure :) |

Dear CDBJ, (Your user name always makes me associate it with "TCBY - The Country's Best Yogurt" - yummy, yummy :) . I appologize if I offended you. I believe it bears a meaning and you wouldn't mind to tell me so that I won't have such a silly association anymore! ) Thanks for your response. Yes, that is why I wrote "so-call believer" instead of "true believer". Then what was Jesus talking about on these verses? I have had no ideas! Blessings to you on thanksgiving :) Azure |
