1 | Healing in Death | Not Specified | mbooker | 39032
I have a question to an answer I saw posted to 'Divine Healing'. It was stated 'One more note. For the Christian, I believe the ultimate healing takes place when we enter His presence for eternity, either by death or upon His return. There are times where we pray for healing, and the Lord answers it by bringing that person home.' I have hear this before but it was said 'Their healing came when they died'. My question is are there accounts in scripture where our Father or our Lord Jesus answered someone who was asking for healing with the answer of death. I have read through the gospels and saw where many came to Jesus with a physical sickness/ailment or even death (Jarius and the Centurion) and Jesus granted them what they ask for in this life time. So, for me to believe that our Father answers his child's request to be healed here on this side of heaven (it is possible that some who are dealing with sickness may want to go one and be with our Father) with death, I would have to see in HIS Word (what I must base my faith on) where He has answered that way. So far I have only seen where HE and Jesus healed and the people still lived. Thanks and may our Father's peace to unto you all. |

2 | Dharma Cards | Not Specified | mbooker | 58084
Does anyone know anything about Dharma cards? I have a co worker who has been under a great deal of stress. He is a CONSTANT worrier. He says he believes in Jesus and we have had conversations about Him and the Word (but they are one in the same aren't they? :) ) But anyway, I have tried to minister to him the words of Jesus. 'Let not your heart be troubled'. For awhile, I thought maybe it was working but then... He started telling me about these Buddhist philosophy books he bought. It seems as if he is saying 'yeah I know what Jesus said but I need something else'. And yesterday he told me about the Dharma cards he bought and he confirmed what I thought because he said something about Christians who practice some of the Buddhist philosophy dont find any contradictions with the Bible. During our conversation, as he told me about some of the philosophies, I tried to point back to what scripture said. While, on the surface, the philosophies he shared did not seem to contradict the Word, my concern for him is that he is seeking peace from everywhere but the Prince of Peace. I even told him what Isaiah said: 'Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.' Has anyone dealt with anything similiar and have scripture references I can study, then minister to him? Thanks in advance to those who may respond. Abba Father bless... Meredith |

3 | Psalms 14 and Romans 3 | Not Specified | mbooker | 59342
In Rom 3:10-12, Paul was quoting Psalm 14:1-3. In v11, Paul says 'there is none that seek after God'. Is this quote in another passage of scripture? In v10, Paul says there is none righteous. Who is the generation of the righteous in Psalm 14:5? Thanks in advance to those who may respond... :) Abba Father Bless... |

4 | A Good Baptist | Not Specified | mbooker | 95111
As I was scanning through recent posts, I came across this: 'If you are a good Baptist...'. I then thought of a comment my boss said one day. 'I wasn't being a good Catholic'. I chuckled at the 'good Baptist' statement because the church I attend wears the label 'Missionary Baptist'. The statement also prompted two questions. 1. What does it mean to be a 'good Baptist' or a 'good Catholic' for that matter? 2. Do we have any scriptural basis for having demoninations? Thanks in advance to those who respond. |

5 | GOD TURNED HIS BACK ON JESUS WHEN JESUS | Bible general Archive 2 | mbooker | 94973
Good morning Ray I just happened across your post and 'we will not find in the Scriptures that He "became sin"' caught my eye. Some one may have already posted this and I apologize if they have, but, without having read through this entire post, graceful may have been referring to 2 Cor 5:21 if she said Jesus "became sin". While the KJV doesn't say he "became sin" it does phrase it like this: For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. So, if someone said Jesus "became sin" or "was turned into sin" or "was made sin", I would automatically think of 2 Cor 5:21 Your Sister in Christ Meredith |

7 | where do blacks come from? | Bible general Archive 1 | mbooker | 56600
Here's a passage of scripture(specificially v26) for you to meditate on that could answer your question: Acts 17 22-28 22 Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars' hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious. 23 For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you. 24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; 25 Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things; 26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; 27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: 28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring. the amplified version of v26: And He made from one [common origin, one source, one blood] all nations of men to settle on the face of the earth, having definitely determined [their] allotted periods of time and the fixed boundaries of their habitation (their settlements, lands, and abodes), |

8 | deeds of the law | Bible general Archive 1 | mbooker | 56928
'Now if a person sins and does any of the things which the LORD has commanded not to be done, though he was unaware, still he is guilty, and shall bear his punishment.' Now that is pretty disheartening :(. My question is, was this under the law? If so, haven't we been redeemed from the curse of the law? (Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: Gal 3:13). Another question: How do we reconcile the following scriptures? For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified. Romans 2:13 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. Romans 3:20 Thanks in advance to those who will respond. 9 | body temple of god | Bible general Archive 1 | mbooker | 57243
Hi Brother Jack I can relate to your battle with smoking and wondering how you can quit. My battle is food. For too many years, I had been eating too much and I was not eating the right(healthy) foods. A few years ago I began to confess ('Death and life are in the power of the tongue' Proverb 18:21) the following: I am more than a conqueror through him that loves me. Romans 8:37 I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me. Phil 4:13 And my favorite: God ALWAYS causes me to triumph in Christ. 2 Cor 2:14 In Him, I know you can do it and I pray that you grab hold to these scriptures too and renew your mind. And know that you can quit because you can do all things through Christ. And remember that with God all things are possible(Matt 19:26). Also remember what the Lord told Sara. Is any thing too hard for the LORD? Abba Father bless you in triumphing and may you be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might(Eph 6:10)!!! :) |

10 | verify statement | Bible general Archive 1 | mbooker | 57271
I was in a bible study a few years ago and the author of the book we were studying made this statement: Ministries that preach about money take in the most money. (not an exact quote). here it was stated 'yet they themselves the teachers of WoF live strictly off those that listen to them'. Does anyone know if and where the above statements can be verified as being true? Thanks in advance to those who may respond... :) |

What exactly is Word of faith? And if Acts is the pattern for the church, why do we even have demoninations? Again, thanks in advance to those who may response :) |

12 | cult by what definition? | Bible general Archive 1 | mbooker | 57278
I would like offer a statement in the form of a question. Can this issue of what is a cult or who is a heretic be answered by: BELOVED, DO not put faith in every spirit, but prove (test) the spirits to discover whether they proceed from God; for many false prophets have gone forth into the world. By this you may know (perceive and recognize) the Spirit of God: every spirit which acknowledges and confesses [the fact] that Jesus Christ (the Messiah) [actually] has become man and has come in the flesh is of God [has God for its source]; And every spirit which does not acknowledge and confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh [but would annul, destroy, sever, disunite Him] is not of God [does not proceed from Him]. This [ nonconfession] is the [spirit] of the antichrist, [of] which you heard that it was coming, and now it is already in the world. I John 4:1-3 Just a thought... Abba Father bless... |

14 | HI EdB | Bible general Archive 1 | mbooker | 57318
Hi EdB Thanks for responding. I must say that it would take awhile to find all the local pastors 'that speak most about money'! LOL That would mean I would have to visit each local church several times and compare one with another. Then I would have to observe each congregation to compare them with their pastor. WHEW! That could take a long time. I think my own pastor would wonder where in the world I am each Sunday. :) (this paragraph was typed in humor) But I will share this. My pastor has an SUV, a Mercedes and I believe he still has a pickup truck. His wife has a Toyota (not the Camry, but the other one (the name escapes me at present) ). He wears nice suits and his wife dresses nice also. I've never seen his house and never looked up his local property tax records. But I do have his address and phone number and can find his home if I choose to. Our congregation is a mixture. We have state workers, lawyers, doctors, professors, teachers, business owners, college students. And comparing the members of the congregation with the pastor, I see equity for the most part. Now... :) No, my church is not labeled WoF. In fact, we are labeled 'Baptist'. My pastor usually picks a passage of scripture and preaches on it and I don't recall the last time he preached specifically on the subject of money other than reading a scripture(usually Malachi 3:8-10) at offering time. My pastor is paid thru tithes given by the congregation, so I guess he too lives off what is given by his listeners. Given the following scripture, is it wrong for 'preachers (to) live off what is given by their listeners'? Gal 6:6 Let him who receives instruction in the Word [of God] share all good things with his teacher [contributing to his support]. Amp Those who are taught the word of God should help their teachers by paying them. NLT Oh and please... please... please I beseech anyone who may raise a brow at the number of autos my pastor has... please... please... please I humbly beseech you: I can not and will not defend why he should or should not have them, so please, if you have a problem with it, just leave a scripture reference and I'll pass it along :). Whew! How did this post get so long?!! Abba Father bless and keep you... :) |

15 | scripture reference... | Bible general Archive 1 | mbooker | 57348
Good Morning EdB! Thanks for responding... When you said 'the scripture God’s owes no man', I thought of Proverbs 19:17 He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again. KJV He who is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward him for what he has done. NIV He who has pity on the poor lends to the Lord, and that which he has given He will repay to him. Amp One who is gracious to a poor man lends to the LORD, and He will repay him for his good deed. NTL Can you point me to 'the scripture God’s owes no man'. Thanks again for taking the time to response. Abba Father bless you... |

16 | Cult by God's definition | Bible general Archive 1 | mbooker | 57351
Good Morning Brother Tim May I ask you if you know if we have a biblical standard by which to determine if a group is a cult or not. I ask because another sister and I looked up 'cult' in the Webster's dictionary and to be perfectly honest, we both felt that we(believers) could be define as a cult if you use Webster's dictionary. My goal is to allow the Word of God to be the final authority. So, have you come across any scriptures that you believe can help us identify a 'cult'? One scripture that I consider is I John 4:1-3. Thanks so much for your response. Abba Father Bless you... :) Sister Meredith |

Interesting that the root word for denomination is division. Didn't Jesus say a house divided against itself cannot stand? |
