4 | what prophet? said god put sandals | Bible general Archive 3 | jlschock | 179124
I came across 2 Chronicles 28:15 NASB it seems to be the only verse that has the words 'put', 'sandals', and 'city' in the same verse. Jesus sending out the twelve and saying to shake the dust off of their feet like in Matthew 10:14 comes to my mind also. please let me know if you have any more information for me to go on. I am really curious of this answer. for His Glory, Joanna :) |

Ezekiel 16:10 fine seal leather sandles. I am pretty sure that the city is Jerusalem and the prophet is Ezekiel. I was so stumped by this question that I passed it on to friends. One of my friends found it. |

6 | OT laws repeated in NT | Bible general Archive 3 | jlschock | 179427
I think that all the 10 commandments (Exodus 20)are mentioned in the NT. The greatest commandment is found in Mark 12:29-31, Matthew 22:34-40 and Romans 13:8-10. There are also several references OT commands in Matthew 5, Matthew 19, Mark 2:23-28, Acts 15:19-29, Romans 13:13-14, 1 Corinthians 5:9-11, and Colossians 2:13-19 for HIS glory, Joanna :) |

9 | how do you deal with seeing demons | Bible general Archive 3 | jlschock | 180660
I grew up with a friend that could see demons. That type of discernment is a great gift. Some things come to mind. I would first pray for wisdom and ask the Lord what you should do. (James 1:5-6) And not just a once and done thing but everytime. Don't forget about Acts 19:13-20 Make sure that you are right before the Lord before you have anything to do with what you see or hear. Spiritual warfare is dangerous make sure that you have on the full armor of God. (Ephesians 6:10-18) Also this site may help. http://www.spiritlessons.com/dreams_and_visions/Dilivered_from_the_powers_of_Darkness_by_Emmanuel_Eni.htm hope this helps, Joanna :) |

11 | definition of witchcraft | Bible general Archive 3 | jlschock | 182479
KJV says--"Rebellion is as sinful as witchcraft..." I took this as the sin of rebellion is the same level as the sin of witchcraft not that they are the same but that they are being compaired. other versions say NIV--For rebellion is like the sin of divination... NASB--For rebellion is as the sin of divination... MSG--Not doing what God tells you is far worse than fooling around in the occult... AMP--For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft NLT--Rebellion is as sinful as witchcraft... ESV--For rebellion is as the sin of divination... CEV--Rebelling against God or disobeying him because you are proud is just as bad as worshiping idols or asking them for advice... NKJV--For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft... 21stCKJV--For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft ASV--For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft... YLT--for a sin of divination [is] rebellion... DT--For rebellion is [as] the sin of divination... NLV--To go against what you are told is like the sin of witchcraft... HCSB--For rebellion is like the sin of divination... NIRV--Refusing to obey him is as sinful as using evil magic... NIVUK--For rebellion is like the sin of divination... TNIV--For rebellion is like the sin of divination... Are these not analogies or comparisons? joanna :) |

12 | definition of witchcraft | Bible general Archive 3 | jlschock | 182496
I found this defination in the book "Exposeing witchcraft in the church" -Witchcraft: The root of All Rebellion "For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubborness is as iniquity and idolatry." 1sam.15:23 NKJV -Stubbornness is as Idolatry (he makes an idol of all his opinions) Well I couldn't find a Scripture reference right off...the book just says "when someone asserts authority not given by God it is called witcraft; it is rebeliion against delegated, legitimate authority. With such illegitimate authority, one resorts to manipulating, dominating, or intimidating in order to rule over other people. " hope this helps, joanna :) |

15 | what is this verse saying | Gen 4:7 | jlschock | 182425
This verse is best in context Gen 4:1-8. This is how I understand the verse. Cain worked with the ground. Abel worked with the sheep. Both Cain and Abel brought offerings to the Lord. Cain brought some fruit but Abel brought the first born and fat portions. The Lord showed respect and favour to Abel's offering over Cain's. Cain was beside himself by being extremly angry. Then comes Gen 4:7 The Lord explains to Cain that if he offered the right offering his would have been accepted too. But as it was Cain was alowing anger and jelously to brew inside him. So the Lord was warning Cain of his heart's condition, warning him of the temptation of sin and telling him how to get out of the situation. To master the temptation of sin by doing well and right. Hope this helps, Joanna :) |

17 | Why was Onan punished? | Gen 38:10 | jlschock | 179957
since the two verses before this verse are about Onan making Tamar pregnant. It says that what Onan did was evil in the sight of the Lord so He took his life also. I think that "also" is referring to his brothers who also did evil in the eyes of the Lord. The most descriptive thing that this chapter says about Onan is that he did not want to make Tamar pregnant because he didn't want to father children that wouldn't be his own. As for other duties, I don't think that the chapter is descriptive enough. Hope this helps Joanna :) |

20 | 1 Kings Chapter 13 | 1 Kin 13:1 | jlschock | 178933
Does the Bible give an account of the Old Prophet before chapter 13? Using only the detail given in chapter 13, I would also consider verse 18 as a whole a lie since it says strait out that he was lying. Although it would easily be disputed that the old prophet was a prophet like the Man of God since the LORD used him as such in 20-22, I would still say that the whole verse is a lie because there just isn't enough info to go on. I would also like to know why it is phrased "old prophet" and not "man of God" or "false prophet" Prophet or not God can use anyone for anything He sees fit if it makes sense to us or not. for His Glory, Joanna :) |
