1 | Remember the Sabbath; when? | Gen 1:1 | Schmythe | 89781
This is just my opinion, but I don't think it matters. The bible never says "the sabbath shall be celebrated on saturday", or "the sabbath shall be celebrated on sunday". I think the important thing is that we celebrate the wonder of what God created. Also I don't think this sort of thing should be limited to one day a week. Our whole lives should be spent in constant awe of the many great things God has done.
2 | Remember the Sabbath; when? | Gen 1:1 | Schmythe | 89924
Just out of curiosity EdB, Whatis your response to the original question? The one having to do with the Sabbath?
3 | Remember the Sabbath; when? | Gen 1:1 | Schmythe | 89947
no apology necissary, on this type of forum it is easy to lose track of the respondit, thank you though. It was very interesting to hear your response. God bless
4 | Why would God do that? | Gen 2:7 | Schmythe | 89583
You know personaly I have spent a lot of time thinking about this too. And I think it's something that's hard to address without talking about free will. If God didn't creat those who didn't choose him it would be as if that choice was elemintated all together, and that would put a limit on free will. I think that's kinda what you were asking. I hope that helps, if my explination seems a bit muddled let me know and i'll try to explain myself bettr. God bless.
5 | exodus 20:13 | Exodus | Schmythe | 89582
I by no means am an authority on this but it seems to me that what David did was an attempt to protect the Jews and also to stand up for his God. Day after day Galiath was mocking God and threatening soldiers. If David had not killed him many of the Jews would have been lost. However this is also the old testimate view. If you were to look at Luke 6:29 you would see, that the Lord no longer encourages us to take vengance for wrong done to us. Justice is for the Lord to distribute. I hope this will help you. God bless.
6 | What is frankincense | Matthew | Schmythe | 89580
Frankincense is a type of insense used in religious cerimonies. They burn it and it lets off a fragrent smoke, that in most cerimonies is used to represent the prayers of the people traveling up to God.
7 | slew the children of bethlehem | Matt 2:16 | Schmythe | 89578
I'm not sure what version your bible is but I have an NIV and it says "When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi." Basically this was after Herod had heared that the King of the Jews was to be born at this time. He sent the Magi to find Christ, and then they were to tell Herod where to find him. Once Herod found Christ he planned to kill him. When the Magi left without telling him the location he thought he would play it safe and kill all the children that might be around Christ's age. I hope this helps
8 | Hell not created for man? | Matt 25:41 | Schmythe | 89778
I agree, if hell was designed as a place to send the rebelious angels to it must have been created before man, since this took place before we were created.
9 | Hell not created for man? | Matt 25:41 | Schmythe | 89790
Well first unless we are in disagreement about satan also being the serpent in Genesis, then I think that would perhaps be the most obvious scriptural refference. If satan was already at the point of going against God, he must have tried to overthrough God before our creation. Also I would like to say that I agree that someone should not deppend upon others for their spiritual knowledge, but there is nothing wrong with sounding ideas off of others, or asking questions about something we don't understand. The main point is that we realize the only one with all the answers is God. Everyone, you George, myself, and the person asking the questions, can only give their best interpretations. The Lord is the only one who fully knows everything. God bless
10 | Hell not created for man? | Matt 25:41 | Schmythe | 89820
Once again i am curious are you compareing my to a "false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves."? you seem to not address the main intent of my previous post, which was to discuss, my basis for the idea that hell was created for satan and his lot. Instead you only seem to elude to the fact that you consider me a "false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves."
11 | Are we Stupid or Lazy? Our Soul at stak | Rom 14:12 | Schmythe | 89823
George, I think you might be at the wrong web site. Unless I am mistaken about this place it was designed so that people who had questions about God could come and ask, and those that had some light to shed on the subject could do it, correct me if i am wrong. Also isn't it our job as Chistians to serve as guides to the world. For we are the light to the world. Not just the light unto ourselves. just askin.may God soften your heart.
12 | Judgement or Discernment? | Rom 14:12 | Schmythe | 89824
I find it interesting that as soon as someone agrees with you they are "spiritually receptive". I think you need to pray long and hard about the direction you are heading.
13 | Are we Stupid or Lazy? Our Soul at stak | Rom 14:12 | Schmythe | 89825
this seems slightly contradictory to me george. you say, "As for those who "will not seek truth for themselves," I have only pity, and would shake the dust from my feet where they are concerned." but then you say, "Is it not the adults place to properly train up the children?" So which is it are we to leave people to fend for themselves or our we to teach those that ask questions? please let me know.
14 | Putting 2 and 2 together | Rom 14:12 | Schmythe | 89826
EdB, I have a question, and i'm hoping you can give me some scriptural reffernce for this. you seem to say that the answer to everyhthing can be found if we look for it in the bible. I am curious in what verse does it say that the jews of this time wanted a king so they would not have to deal with God? please let me know where u find this. |

15 | You took a wrong turn somewhere.. | Rom 14:12 | Schmythe | 89827
I must say i read everything and i think this person has a good point. you seem all to eager to abandon those who you feel are not at the place they should be in their spiritual journey. As with any long trip no one goes at the same speed.
16 | Putting 2 and 2 together | Rom 14:12 | Schmythe | 89832
maybe it is the translation i have (new living translation) but it does not say it was because they did not want to deal w/ God. the closest i can find is 1 samuel 8: 7 "Do as they say," the Lord replied, "for it is me they are rejecting, not you. They don't want me to be their king any longer." This does not say anything about the jews wanting a man because his judgement can be clouded. please let me know if this is just my translation or if i am looking in the wrong place.
17 | Putting 2 and 2 together | Rom 14:12 | Schmythe | 89839
I realize this, but my point is that not everything is show in scripture, somethings must be thought over and discussed with others. Which seems to me to be the opposite of what the rest of this discussion thread would advise.
18 | Are we Stupid or Lazy? Our Soul at stak | Rom 14:12 | Schmythe | 89920
Thank you very much for clarifying. I agree with you. There are true teachers out there whos intent it is to pass on the true word of God, but there are also those who would prevert it. And how are we to know as followers of God unless we look into these things ourselves. Thank you once again for the clarification. God bless.
19 | Judgement or Discernment? | Rom 14:12 | Schmythe | 89921
I apologize for my agrumentative state, I have been told that it does come accross as that way some times. This is not how i would like it to be precieved. It is just that I get so wrapped up in the discussion of things, I forget, my tone some times. However, I make no excuse for myself and hope you accept my apology. I would also just like to say that the Word does not offend me nor does what you say. However the way that it was put forth here does seem a bit strong. However that is good. Matthew 21: 12, 13 "Jesus entered the temple area and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves. "It is written," he said to them, " 'My house will be called a house of prayer,'but you are making it a 'den of robbers.'" It is good to be passionate about what we believe if all christians could be this way this world would be much better. God bless. |

20 | Putting 2 and 2 together | Rom 14:12 | Schmythe | 89923
You are very correct in the point you make. However, this thread has to do with (or so my understanding goes) those christians that are "lazy" whom I tend to view as those that need guidence. But yes Amen to what you say. But scripture also says Mark 4: 21 "He said to them, "Do you bring in a lamp to put it under a bowl or a bed? Instead, don't you put it on its stand?" Just because there is evil in the world we should not hide away from it, but you are right we must always be careful to keep ourselves from being sucked in. God bless
