1 | Is not Love The Greatest Commandment? | Not Specified | LampLight | 31469
If Love is the Greatest Commandment, then why is it today that I hear so many No-believers refer to Christians as being not loving? Have they forgot this Most higest commandment? I personally am seeing too many Christians being bound by the Law and not the Spirit, they cannot look into the heart of a person and seek compassion, they are too busy trying to argue thier point instead of seeing the point of a person needing loving guidance and direction. Is not the Father in heaven a Loving God? Is this not what we need to display?
2 | what is grace | Bible general Archive 1 | LampLight | 31460
Read 2 Tim 1:9 Grace is the Gift that we were given by the Father though Jesus Christ the Son upon the Cross at Calvary when he was crusified for us for our sins. Throught his grace, which is like Mercy Amplified....we are able to seek out the Father in Heaven in his Holiness, otherwise we would not be able to becasue of our natural sinful nature. It is through the Grace of Jesus Christ that God the Father can look upon us. That we are able to pray to him, that we are able to be pardoned for all of our sins. That we are able to build a personal relationship with Christ. As he is our counselor, our comforter, our great physician. After Christ was crusified on the cross, rose again ater 3 days and then descended back into heaven, we were left with the presence of the Holy spirit to be our internal comfort and guide. |

3 | God hates sin, loves sinner. Biblical? | Bible general Archive 1 | LampLight | 31466
Read Matt 9:13 This quote is from the bible, however you must consider that there are various versions of the Bible. There is the New International Version which is where the quote you referenced came from, as this Bible spells it out in more common to understand terms, unlike the King Kames Version of the Bible which was taken from the Kings James Era and references more British types of terminology. IE: Thee, thou and tho. Round about, which means the same as surrond. Here is another quote from the Bible that is similar to the one you asked about. Jesus was sitting around a Table dining with Tax collectors and Politicians...the Pharisees, which is like the High Priests in the Temple, mummered amoungst themselves, "Why is this Jesus" the King of the Jews, the Holy one sitting, dining and talking amoungst sinners? Jesus, knew what they were mummering amoungst themselves and replied " It is not the well that need the physican? But he sick. That is why Jesus Loves the sinners and not the Sin. He Loves the sinners so that they may be saved by his Mercy and Grace. If you want to learn more about this I suggest reading the Bible from the beginning, at your own pace....don't stress yourself out about keeping a specific schedule at 1st. After you read each Chapter IE: Genesis, etc. Stop and think about it, write down your thoughts. This is how I got started and it has helped me tremendously. What reading the Bible does is give you understadning as to who God is, for he is the same yesterday, today, tomorrow and until and through eternity. He is never changing. The Bible is not only a guide on how we can live life to it's fullest with Christ as our Guide, but to better Understand God's character. The more you know about him, the more you can come to him. He is a very loving God!!! |

5 | What do you think of Jesus? | Ps 22:1 | LampLight | 31820
My thoughts on this where Christ Cries Out "My God, My God, why has thou forsaken me", is from the terrible pain that Crist felt at the moment of his death of the seperation from the Father. For it grieved him to be seperated from his Father in heaven. It was not a cry of why must I do this. Christ knew from the beginning that he was sent here to be our Saviour, Our Emmanual (God be with us)....Did you receive the poem I e-mailed to you about the cross?
6 | What do you think of Jesus? | Ps 22:1 | LampLight | 31883
Dear Robert: You refelctions and versus of that day on the cross are beautiful. Just reading it brought tears to my eyes at the awsome thought of how much God really does love us, he loved us so much that yes, he sacrificed his only begotten son for us...knowing us so completely, knowing our human nature, that we would always have short comings and not by our own nature seek him. He loved us so much that he knew that this was the only way and do so un-selfishly....I cannot think of a greater Love than that. I also reflect back sometimes to the old testimant concerning this. Numbers and Levicitus where the priest (Aaron's Sons)had to make sacrifice offerings to God on the alter as a peace offering, an atonement for sins for the people. I can't help but think, God being as he is..omnipresent, omipotent, knowing all things...Knew that we as a people could not keep these commandments, contine the sin offerings, therefore he offered the greatest sin offering of all....His beloved Son in whom he was well pleased. My heart just overflows when I think of such a great love. There will never ever be a Love that could compare to that.
7 | who is her in this vese | Is 65:18 | LampLight | 31458
Her very often refers to a Nation. It refers to her people, the Nation of Jeruselem' poeple. The bible is not literal, it is like poety in comaprative versus. Think not only with the mind, but the heart and it will make more sense to you
8 | who is her in this vese | Is 65:18 | LampLight | 31467
Hank: I think you misunderstood me. Maybe I was too quick in saying not literal. I don't intend to start a debate over this. I was only intending to encourage someone. And yes there are indeed parts of the bible that are not literal, but comaptive: IE: The parables. These are very important and should not be overlooked. Christ had a very expressive way with words, beautifull words that were intended to touch the heart and stir the mind. Just some food for thought
9 | Trying to understand: | Mal 2:16 | LampLight | 31327
Refer to 1 Corinthans 7:1-7:40 regarding the duties of marriage. You are referring to 1 Corinthans 7:14. For the unbelieving husband is santified by the by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is santified by the husband; else were your children unclean; but now are holy. This is where the misunderstanding comes in. This statement in the bible refers to couples who were married as unbelievers, then one was saved which then saves the other. If one is a believer and the other is a non believer it is best not to marry as you are not of the same spirit, least the believer could weaken in his spiritual walk with Christ. We are to edify, encourge and uplift one another. This is more difficult when one believes and one does not. God greatly blesses a Marriage where both are believers and the rewards are great. There is a verse in the bible, do not know the excat verse off hand but it comes to mind when answering this question. We are to be of the same yoke. This interpretation is given like the image of 2 oxen yoked together in the field to do work side by side; one oxen is trained and disciplines to the yoke around it's neck, the other is not. Imagine the two of them yoked together in the field trying to do some serious work? Gods work and lifestlye is very serious and we must be comitted to his will, plan and purposes in our life. Afterall, his plan, will and purpose is best...when we trust him and do his will, it always turns out better than we could ever have imagined. Trust God, pray a little harder for him to reveal his will, plan and purpose for you life. |

10 | Should we Divorce? | Mal 2:16 | LampLight | 31374
I agree with the previous posting!! I understand your situation more now that I have read your previous positngs of your problem. He is right, you do need to humble yourself before the Lord, seek him ernestly, pour your heart our and tell him how you do not want to grieve him, but do his will. Remember, God does know the true intentions of our heart, more than we ever will. He does work out all things for the good of ourselves and others. Also during this time you may need to seek out and ask Gos what is he trying to teach you at this point in time of our life. Many times, often times it is when we are in deep tribulation that God not only want's to change our lives, but to teach us many valuable life changing lessons. I know, been there, done that...Don't have the tee-shirt yet. Still there!! When you feel very burdened, lay it upon him, rest in him as he does promise us that the weary and the weak shall find rest and peace in me, not as the world gives, but only as he can give. Maybe he wants you to learn to trust him more, to lay these cares completely at his feet..and leave them there, trust me he know how you are hurting and he will resolve this for you. Keep the faith, my best advise is to cling ever so close to him, for he is your comlete comfort and guide. Reemember he will never leave you nor forsake you.....In Jesus Love, |

Part 1: No, I am not saying that you should divorce. Please read my posting to you on 2/22/02 after I read a little more on your situation. Your situation is not an easy situation with a quick fix. You said you don't Love her anymore like you did, and that She is very disinterested basically in the Marriage, so it is apparant that there are no real bonds of love there anymore, however...you need to be careful when an entire family with children is involved. It would be much easier if it were just the 2 of you, but it isn't. It sounds like there are a lot of high emotions involved here, which can only make the situation worse. I personally have found it much harder to come to any solid conclusions when my emotions are high, and my mind is confused. Which, the mind does become confused when the emotions are that way. The best thing I can suggest is 1st and foremost, Please Humble yourself before our Heavenly Father, as I am sure you have already....please contine to do so. Don't keep asking him to necessairly show you what to do right now, gather close to him, rest in his presence, ask for his peace, ask for a calm, still, strong mind and emotions so that you can be better instructed by God when the time comes for him to instruct you. As he will, trust me on this one. After many years myself of personally only trusting God in my life when things are going the way I want them to, and then when they are not, I take control of my life again....I have learned, and am still learning, that he knows best, even when we don't feel that he does. He does have a plan for you, he will work this out for the good of all...not just you. We must be very careful not to take everything in our complete control in our lives just becasue we want it fixed right now, right away. It's easy to do that, but definatly not always best. God does know and does care about how much you are hurting right now. We can only think about our lives maybe 10 steps ahead, he can see it 20, 30 even 40 steps ahead of us. Oftentimes when we are going through times in our lives when it is not so ideal to us,it is to him. He uses that time in our life to refine us, to teach us, to grow us up in his Love and brings us to a closer relationship to him as well as a better undertanding. As Charles Stanley (In Touch Ministries) said "If we were to get all of our answers to all of our problems immediately, the relationship with Christ would be over, right there and then". What would be the point of that? We need Christ in our lives, he is our comforter and our guide. He wants us to depens upon him more, to trust him more, to have a close relationship with him, but if it were all too easy, there would be no appreciation there. |

Part 2: I will repeat my best advise: 1st draw very close to the Father (he will be your strength), let him give you the peace you need especially now...no one else can give that to you as he knows you better than anyone ever will. 2nd, Don't continually replay how bad the situation is in your head and heart over and over again...this will weaken your spirit and make your heart very weary. I'm not saying to forget about the problem at hand, just don't continually focus upon it. Let it rest in Gods hands, and when you find youself picking these cares back up again, place it right back in his hands again. This is something that needs to be practiced. We are human and our nature is to always want to be in complete contol of our lives. 3rd, it is easy not to see the Forrest though the trees. Stop and think for a minute, putting your own feelings aside right now, about what She might be feeling, or why she feels the way she does. It could be something more deep rooted than what you realize. She could even maybe be experiencing depression (lack of wanting to clean the house), the baby? These are signs of that, and the Baby definatly would be a reason. I am not saying that you feelings are not imporatant, but remember God considers all things, tries all things and is fair and just. When we make a descison that involves more than one person, we need to consider all things. What you do that may be good for you, may be very bad for her or the children. 4th, have your tried counseling? If yo have and you tried it toghether and it did not work, because sometimes together is not good as it only flares up more anger, etc. How about her going to coulseling on her own, she may need to discuss some private things that she doesn't feel that she can discuss with you. Seek out a Christain coulselor, not one from a Church, but a licensed professional. There are some out there. They would be best becasue they have the proper counseling background with a spirital, biblical view as well. I don't know what else more to say, except that I can feel for you and I know that God will show you...but you are best to stay calm, harness the emotions, seek Gods council, not a lot of peoples council as it can oftentimes be more confusing. Our God is not the author of confusion, but of peace and Love. Don't jump ahead of the Lord on your decision making, he will show you in his time. Gods, Love. Peace and guidance to you my friend....Hang in there!! |

14 | Trying to understand: | Mal 2:16 | LampLight | 32028
Dear Pricehome: I just wanted to check in on you and see how you are doing? It is still my prayers that you are searching for your answers directly from God. He is the great counselor you know, he is also the Healer of all things and our refuge in the storm. I don't know if you are familiar or not with any of the contemporary Christian artists, but a song comes to my mind about your situation. The song goes like this. "Sometimes he calms the storm, but it doesn't mean he will, other times he lets the winds and waves go wild, and other times he just calms the child". If you think about that it makes perfect sense. Know that I am praying for you as many others are too. My biggest prayer is for God to keep you held close to him and bring you the peace that you so need now as well as the strenght and courage. Nerer, ever forget...He knows you perfectly, Loves you completely and he will never leave you nor forsake you.
15 | Duty of Pastor and Board Members! | Matt 5:13 | LampLight | 31321
We are the salt and the light of the earth by being Children of God. We are not here to serve things that serve us, but to serve one another in Love, Kindness and Patience. If you see a need in the Church, any need at all..Don't be afraid to express it (lovingly), even organize it. A little humor when mentioning this need would be helpful; ie: Since we are the salt of the earth, we need to spread some salt, least we all back slide : )

17 | Is not Love The Greatest Commandment? | John 3:16 | LampLight | 31510
Dear Robert: Thank you for your response. I agree with all that you said. Love is the greatest commandment and I also know that Christ Loves us Unconditionally and that I too am saved by his grace and not by works. The reason that I posted this question was that my spirital gift is the gift of mercy, and I am new to this forum. I responded to a couple of questions, with encouragement and love, I got 2 responses back that did nothing but criticize me (Hank)and at that moment for the 1st time in my life, sadly to say, I understood how a lot of non-believers feel when they say the things that they do about Christians. Too many times I hear the word thrown around, "So' Called Christains, many times by other Christains...these words are powerful and wound as a sharp piercing sword. Being a Christain and knowing how to forgive, I brought my wounds to the Father and I am ok today, however what about the non-belivers who can't forgive so easily, who don't go to the Father as we do? It is my stong belief that Love is first and foremost of importance, if it were not for Love then our hearts would not be capable of being opened up to the Father to start our wonderful journey with him, a close realtionship with him. He works on us from the inside out. 1st Love, then learning, then descipline and obiedence. Because it is He who 1st loved us, our love in turn for him makes us want to know more about him, to follow his will, to be obiedent to him...all this out of love. I suppose I was shocked and dis-heartened by last nights events here on the forum, as I did not expect such boasting and criticism from here. Now I know why I am basically a loner, I associate with my Church, but not too many on a large scale, and at work, mostly I spend time alone with the Fahter for he will never leave me nor forsake me. Thanks for your ear, just wanted to explain why the question. |

18 | Is not Love The Greatest Commandment? | John 3:16 | LampLight | 31653
Thank you brian. I wanted to respond with a better reference to revelations, but the search here for the forum, well, I am on a learning curve should I say. I will be more careful and I do see your point, and a good one at that. I am sensative sometimes, and well I felt personally attached by hank on my first trial on this forum. I am over it now, but it did make me think about how we are reflecting ourselves to the non-believers. I guess I have way too big of a heart sometimes. Your criticism I can accept, becasue It was done in honesty, sincerity and Love.
19 | Is not Love The Greatest Commandment? | John 3:16 | LampLight | 31654
Thank you John as well. It was not my intent to post non-facts, I referenced by mistake (as I am human) no key in my back..Little Humor. Anyhow, I said Descend into heaven of Christ instead of Ascend into heaven. I did not mean that and I did know what I meant to say. I had my 2 year old grandson, who lives here with me screaming in the background while I was trying to post. I also said the bible is not always literal. When Hank jumed on me abouth that, I wrote back what about the parables? They were beautiful expressions of Christs words to touch the heart and stir the mind. Yes his parables meant something, they were just not plainly spoken in the literal sense, but a comparative sense. I am not the most knowledgeable of the Bible, however I am not unfamiliar with the Bible either. Maybe my better approch would be if I see something that I would like to respond to, to print it. Then stop and take the time to ponder it, research it, then post my answer instead of trying to post in then and there. Like I said I am new to this. I do have a lot of love and insight to share. I write Christian poems that I have shared with various people that have touched them to want to know more. I feel that this is the gift that God has given me, the gift of Mercy and expression. Thank you for helping me to bandage this little wound of mine. It was only a nick anyhow and I will continue to post. I want to learn more as well as help in any way that I can...focusing on being more accurate.
20 | Is not Love The Greatest Commandment? | John 3:16 | LampLight | 31667
Dear Robert: I greet you from the opposite of the Globe here in Sunny Florida. I too am so thankful that God refuses to leave us the way we are, that he ever so gently, yet sometimes abruptly moves us more and more towards understanding him and Loving him deeper. I wish that I had started off on this forum better than I did, but, that was yesterday and today is today. I watch Charles Stanley (In Touch Ministires) and have also read a few of his books. Are you familiar with him? He teaches with Love, yet his own experiences, as well as very sound Biblical doctrine. The 1 hour that I watch him on Sunday seems to be so filled with so much good information as well as deep encouragement. He does have a website also. Anyhow, wanted to share that with you. I am now reading his book entitled "How to Listen to God". It is an excellent book. I would highly recommend it. Thank yor for your support and understanding. I look forward to hearing more about your faith as well.
