I would like to know if anyone knows who this Rick Joyner is. Is he one of the ones to watch out for in Hank Hanegraaf's book Christianity in Crisis? I don't have that book yet. I also want his other book Counterfeit Revival. Anyway I just want to be on the look out for foxes in case they creep into our hen-house. I found a few articles online. Oh and by the way here is a good sight for cults and false teachings These two sites may be very informitive http://religion-cults.com/Cults/Christian/C-CULTS.htm http://www.watchman.org/cat95.htm |

My vote is for a young earth 6000 years. Science is even tracing all of the human race back to one woman 6000 years ago. That's more acurate than most thelogians. See Ken Ham in Answers in Genesis. 3 | Can a Christian dance? | Not Specified | Jeshuafreak | 52483
The following "Question" was asked by a member of the congregation at Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California, and "Answered" by their pastor, John MacArthur Jr. It was transcribed from the tape, GC 1301, titled "Bible Questions and Answers." A copy of the tape can be obtained by writing, Word of Grace, P.O. Box 4000, Panorama City, CA 91412 or by dialing toll free 1-800-55-GRACE. Question What is the right Christian stand on dancing? Answer Now, I don’t want to get into this in a long detail. Let me just say this, dancing is in the Bible, to start with. There’s no question about that! David danced before the Lord. There was dancing and praising God in Psalm 150. In the Old Testament, there was dancing that was exalting and praising the Lord. Now if you were, however, to use that as a defense of modern-day dancing, you would find yourself ill pressed to do that. The dancing that was done in the Old Testament was done by an individual before God as the full expression of joy! I’m not even too sure that there were any particular steps! I don’t think somebody did—you know, when they got really blessed—they did the “funky chicken” or whatever that thing is, you know… I don’t think they had a new wave of Hebrew dances swinging through the lands. What it means is that they praised God by the expression of the body! They just abandoned themselves to the joy that was theirs in God. There wasn’t any indication that it was ever a partner thing or there ever was anything closely or remotely related to sexual stimulation involved. But, on the other hand, if you study Old Testament history, you’ll find out that they pagans danced orgy dances and the whole key to what they were doing was to stimulate the sex drive. That’s what we’ve inherited today, not the worshipful expression of the body as it frees itself to just glorify God and to express its joy as it spins and twirls and jumps and leaps and praises God! You know who would do the dance in the New Testament? The guy in Acts that got healed. He was dancing all the way through the temple, leaping and jumping and praising God! Now that God likes. But hanging on somebody and going around a smoke-filled room with the lights out while somebody sings a suggestive song isn’t remotely related to the Word of God. You know, we used to say when we were at Christian school—I went to a Christian school that didn’t have any dances, you know—we were really well protected. A guy became a Christian, you know, and he said, “You know, we used to go to the dance because we’d take a girl out and take her to the dance, get her all warmed up, and then we could go out and neck.” He said, “Then when I became a Christian, I realized you don’t dance, you just go right out and neck.” Yeah, true, right? The point is, anything—anything!—that in any way stimulates desire for another person physically, outside marriage, outside that which honors and glorifies God in every part, is to be disregarded and turned away from totally. Totally. And believe me, the way the world sets up dances, they aren’t dances to praise God. That’s the only kind of dancing Israel ever did. How do I know I am a real Christian? To find God without having to be "religious" I walked into a Religious Education classroom in a public school in Australia and with tongue-in-cheek wrote in large letters across the blackboard: "I hate religion" “Man, in this class, you'll get shot,” gasped one student in amazement. “But I’m sold on real Christianity,” I responded. “Well, what’s the difference?” several chorused. 10 | blaspheme the Spirit | Bible general Archive 1 | Jeshuafreak | 52392
Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is someting the Pharisee's were commiting. They told Jesus His works were being done by the power of Satan, when they knew darn good and well that it was God who gave Jesus His power. This is an ongoing thing that one might commit. It is not done by true believers, it would be impossible for them to blaspheme Him, for those who truelly know Him. On the other hand, a religious, legalistic, pharisaical type blasphemes Him everyday by their lifestyle. Luke 13 26then you will begin to say, "We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets.' 27But He will say, "I tell you I do not know you, where you are from. Depart from Me, all you workers of iniquity.' 28There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, and yourselves thrust out. Romans 8 3For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature,[1] God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering.[2] And so he condemned sin in sinful man,[3] 4in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit. 5Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. |

If you aren't "100 percent" sure don't post it. It can be damaging to othere's reputation. Take on individual teachers within these denominations. Anyone anywhere can say that they belong to this or that and say whatever they want. Check your sources first next time. My church is New Song Community Church Portland Oregon. I can tell you that we definently believe in the Trinity. One what, and three whos. The Father The Son and the Holy Spirit. All three are God. The Watchman Expositor has a ver concise website on cults and fals teachings. http://www.watchman.org/cat95.htm Word-Faith Movement: A movement based in large part on the teachings of E. W. Kenyon (1867-1948) that became a distinct movement under the teaching and leadership of Kenneth Hagin, a Pentecostal faith-healing evangelist. God himself is said to have created the world and to do all that he does by speaking words of faith. Man’s creation in God’s image is commonly understood to mean that human beings are “little gods” capable of speaking creative words of faith. The fall of Adam into sin is interpreted as having transformed Adam (and all unredeemed people) into Satan’s nature and as having transferred Adam’s godhood or dominion on earth to Satan. Jesus is believed to have become man in order to restore human beings to godhood as renewed “incarnations” of God. He is said to have done this by dying spiritually as well as physically on the cross, suffering in hell, and then while in hell becoming the first person to be “born again,” before finally being raised from the dead. Those who believe in Jesus are supposedly empowered to speak words of faith again, especially in order to obtain bodily health and financial prosperity (both of which are supposedly guaranteed as present possessions in the Atonement). . In contrast, traditional Christian theology teaches that God and God alone can bring about whatever he chooses; that man was created to reflect God’s character and to implement his will, not to be little gods; that man is fallen but not Satanic in nature; that God is still in control of this world; that Jesus Christ alone is God incarnate; that Jesus died physically, not spiritually, to redeem us; that Jesus therefore was not born again; and that health and prosperity are promised to believers in the future resurrection. In the meantime God heals and prospers people providentially and miraculously when and as he sees fit. Most of the followers of the Word-Faith teachers are Pentecostals and other evangelical Christians. Profile available. |

I completely agree with you about these word-faith teachers. They are heritics and false teachers. I was just saying not to broadbrush all Pentacostals/Charismatics with them. The Church universal (all believers in Christ/the bride of Christ ) is made up of imperfect fleshly individuals we are going to find extremes in all denominational camps, unfortunantely. The best thing to do is to find a healthy well balanced church home that preaces the word and faithfully administers the sacrements. We do not however have to listen to the false teachers or let them into our church or home via television. The best thing we can do is "become so familiar with the truth that when a counterfeit loomes on the horizon we wil know it simultaneously."-Hank Hanegraff's quote I suggest getting into the word of God.Don't worry bout the tares around you and be concerned with yourself, are you wheat or chaff. The tares will grow along with the wheat till Christ comes for His bride. The only one we can really be sure of is ourselves. Are we in a right relationship with God? Do we personally know His Son Jesus Christ? Are we talking to Him everyday? Are we reading His Word. Are we meditating on His Word? Are we letting it dwell richly in us? Is it changing us? We are constantly being renewed daily. Daily being conformed to the image of His Son Jesus. From glory to glory. There are some questionable individuals in my church home and at one time I was a little questionable myself. God is the Author and Finisher of my faith. Amen for that. I tried too long to do it on my own and didn't change anything. I only succeded in becoming legalistic and religious. Religiosity doesn't change people it pushes them away. Romans 8:29-31 says: 29For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified. 31What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? |

17 | Christian growth, and Faith is hard? | Bible general Archive 1 | Jeshuafreak | 52761
Justme- Yes my friend, I too got saved after a life of blatant sin, which I did not know was sin. I read my Bible so much and highlighted practically the entire New Testament..haha. It has been about 4 years now and I realize that this is always up hill, always against the stream of socity and always against our natural tendencies, which is to sin. Only by the Spirit of God can we even begin this journey and only by His Spirit can we continue in it. We don't need to know everything. God will reveal His Word to us and make it plain at that moment we need it. All we need to do is read the Scriptures and pray. Be obedient to His Spirit. Sensitize yourself to His still small voice by staying roote in His word. Keep His word in your mind always. "Chew the cud." The Lord has quickened our conscience, which was once seared by our ever increasing sin, but now we are made new and free from the old bloated body of death. Praise God for His tender mercies. -Jeshuafreak |
