Thank you for your reply, Searcher. I do not understand your charge that "It is dangerous to cite passages like this and claim it will be true for you ... or anyone else today. While it could be used today, it is not geanerally." I did not claim this passage to be true for me or anyone. I apologize if that was how it was projected to you. Regarding how Jesus healed, I agree that He did not heal everyone. God bless you, love_peace_joy |

Hello Hank and thank you for your reply. 1 Kings 1:1-4 describes Abishag ministering to King David. He was of old age and suffered from a disease that left him unable to retain his body heat, and thus, Abishag laid in bed with him to provide the necessary warmth. However, I do not find the events of Elijah and Elisha to be of similar nature to that of King David nor the treatments they provided. (No disrespect intended here at all please.) Elijah and Elisha brought back to life the persons they ministered to with prayer to the Lord along with "stretching" out upon the person. King David had not died at this point in time, and Abishag was not called of God nor a prophet. Merely she was sought out for the king because she was fair looking and had a genuine adoration and respect for David. Upon searching the New Testament, I find a few instances of Jesus and the apostles reviving people from the dead also, but with less body contact. Luke 7:11-18 Jesus raises a widow's son from the dead merely by telling the young man to "Arise". John 11:1-46 Jesus called forth Lazarus from the grave. Matthew 9:23-26 Jesus raised a young maid from the dead merely by touching her hand. Acts 20:9-12 Paul "fell" upon a young man who had recently fallen out of a third story loft and died. The young man was revived by Paul's actions. So one can see a similar practice of reviving the dead was evident in the New Testament times by at least Jesus and Paul. This is no big matter. Mere curiosity on my part and no shaker of the faith! Thank you in advance for your input. Shalom, love_peace_joy |

4 | Did satan tempt Jesus in the Garden? | Matt 26:39 | love_peace_joy | 186129
Thank you for the warm welcome, John. Yes, to your note... "Wherever there is temptation, you can be sure the lying devil is close at hand." That is a very good incentive to pray always, as our Lord warns us in Luke 21:36. "Watch ye therefore and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass and to stand before the Son of man." Prayer is such an important aspect in the life of a Christian. As James Montgomery wrote in his hymn, "Prayer is the soul's sincere desire, unuttered or expressed; the motion of a hidden fire that trembles in the breast." Shalom, love_peace_joy |

5 | Did satan tempt Jesus in the Garden? | Matt 26:39 | love_peace_joy | 186108
Thank you, Doc, for your insight. I agree that Jesus was about to experience God's wrath and prayed three times that if it was not His Father's will, that this cup be removed from Him. Luke 22:43 mentions an angel ministering to our Lord and strengthening Him during His agony, perhaps similar to the angels ministering to Jesus after the early temptations by the devil in the desert. It is only conjecture on my part to assume the devil did not tempt Jesus during the garden agony, but he was certainly working on the disciples. Shalom, love_peace_joy |
