1 | Is Practicing homosexual Behavior a Sin? | Rom 1:24 | dulos | 75401
Not just the Old Testament. Jeus came to fulfill the Law in that he lived a perfect and blameless life to be a propitiation for our sins. He was the perfect sacrifice for the sins of the world.Freeing us from the keeping of the deeds of the law and justifying us by faith (Ro 3:25-28, 1Jn 2:2, 4:10). We are not under the Law but under his Grace (Jn 1:17, Ro 4:16, 5:20, 6:14,15, Gal 2:21, 5:4). We should be careful not to use the Old Testament alone, because we are not bound to follow the Law. The New Testament does however have something to say about the subject: 1 Cor 6:9-10: "9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10 nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God." NASB Gal 5:19-21 "19 Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality,20 idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, 21 envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God." NASB Both vise lists state a sexual sin. 1Cor uses homosexualls, and Gal uses carousings ("orgies and the like" in the KJV and NIV). It is clear that all manner of sexual sin is wrong. Note that it says those who "practice" such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. So if the "ELCA" that "practicing Homosexual behavior is not a sin", than they are in direct violation of the word of God. Note also that these lists are lists of all "deeds" or sins of the flesh, done by the unrighteous or sinners. These are not just a list to point out "homosexuals" only but also liars, thieves, drunkards, ect. So no matter what sinful background you came from before coming to Christ, we should all strive to walk in the spirit and not in the flesh. What I mean by this is that all of us struggle with particular sins. For some it may be lying, for others it may be slothfulness, and for some it may be homosexuallity, or fornication. Not to pick only on homosexuals, but all sin is sinful in God's eyes. We need to run to his throne of Grace daily and ask him to purge us. |

2 | see 1 John 4.18 | Matt 25:24 | dulos | 75400
The whole veiw of this verse should be read in light of the context of chapters 24 and 25. In them Jesus is describing the last days to his disciples and the signs of his comming. see Mt 24:3 Then he tells them about it plainly in verses 4-51. Then in chaper 25, the same chapter of which the verse of the parable from which you speek of, Jesus tells the comming of his kingdom as parables, two to be exact. One of the ten virgins Mt 25:1-13, and one of the talents Mt 25:14-30. The point of the both parables is that we are to be ready for his comming. Always in anticipaiton that he could come at any moment. Note that in the case of the ten virgins 5 were "wise" or ready for the bridegroom. The others were "foolish" or not ready for the bridegroom. The same is true of the servants and the tallents, 2 were ready because they had put their talents to use. One just went off and hid his talent. The full interpretation of these parables are given to us by Jesus in Mt 25:31-46. In which he is describing the Great White throne Judgement spoken of in Rv 20:11-15. (also see Mt 13:24-30 and Mt 13:36-43) After Jesus triumphs over Satan, Satan is cast into the lake of fire for a 1,000 years, during which we will reign with Christ on earth for those 1,000 years (see Rv. 20:1-7). There will then be a final judgment or a separation if you will, between those who are of God and those who are not. |

3 | New Testament TITHING ? | Bible general Archive 1 | dulos | 75110
"I find no where in the NT that we are bound to that law of giving 10 percent." We may not be "bound" in a sense, but the tithing priciple still remains. Giving God of your first fruits is showing him that he is first in your finaces. Tithing is a good start but not an absolute rule persay. However, tithing is mentioned in the NT:Heb 6:20-7:2 " 19 ... Jesus,... He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.1 This Melchizedek as ...priest of God Most High. He met Abraham ... 2 and Abraham gave him a tenth of everything." |

4 | When is abortion right? | Ex 21:23 | dulos | 74920
Dear, Chuck The problem I have with your oppinion is that you seem to think that the bible is only for those who know greek or hewbrew in this case. I don't believe that we need to define every word in the original language to get what is being said. If you gave this verse to a 3rd world person, someone that did not go to "bible college" he would understand that the word womb means inside the womb. Not "MEBETEN" which means out from. My concordance says this: Strong's Ref. number 990 Romanized beten Pronounced beh'-ten from an unused root probably meaning to be hollow; the belly, especially the womb; also the bosom or body of anything: KJV--belly, body, plus as they be born, plus within, womb. Now if the word meant "from out from" MEBETEN, and not "within the womb" BETEN Im sure the translators of the NIV text would have translated as such: "10. From birth I was cast upon you; from (OUT FROM or more literal FROM OUTSIDE)my mother's womb you have been my God." But they stuck with, "(FROM) my mother's womb you have been my God." Maybe your Strongs is differnt than mine but mine says BETEN and not (ME)BETEN- Paranthesis for emphasis. Even so, I do not think that the average person reading it would get your transation from the plain meaning of the text. A rule of interpretation says that "when the plain meaning of the text makes sense, no interpretaion is needed of the text." However, I will look at the Strongs for the NIV because I think the Strongs I have is set up for the KJV. We will see what it does say in the original language. . . Your brother in Christ, dulos |

5 | When is abortion right? | Ex 21:23 | dulos | 74814
"Life is present from the moment of conception onward" Scripture evidence: (All Scripture Quotations are taken from the NIV) # 1 Psalm 22:10: "10 From birth I was cast upon you; from my mother's womb you have been my God." This is the Messianic refference to Christ yet it is clear that the Palmist did not know he was uttering prophecy about the Christ. He reffers to himself whtn he says that even from his mothers womb God knew him. I know though we need more scriptual evidence: #2 Psalm 139: " 13For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb 13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. ... 16 your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. From the context the palmist is speaking of God Soveriegn foreknowledge, he says in verse 13 that God formed him when he was a "fetus" in the womb. Why would God be concerned about forming a "fetus" if "it" is not really a life? Coincidentally the word "fetus" is the Latin for "unborn LIVING child" (emphasis mine)He says in the following verse that his "frame was not hidden" from God when he was made. The thought from this verse flows into next God saw his unformed body or "fetus" when he was being woven together. He ends by saying God had a plan for him before he was born. #3 Isaiah 44:2 and 24, 49:5: both use (in reference to the LORD) the phrase "he who formed you in the womb" #4 Jeremiah 1:5: God tells the prophet "5... Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations." How could God apoint a "fetus" if a "fetus" is not a life? If it is true that a "fetus" is not a life, than God would think so too, and I don't think he would appoint something that is not alive to be a prophet. The vere would read "(after you were born)... I appointed you to be a prophet." #5 Jeremiah 20:17: After Jeremiah was arrested an beaten up and put in stocks he is lamenting or rather wining to THE LORD about his hard life a prophet. He curses his father for bringing the news that he was born. And gives his reason: " 17 For he did not KILL me in the womb, with my mother as my grave, her womb enlarged forever. 18 Why did I ever come out of the womb to see trouble and sorrow and to end my days in shame?"(Emphasis mine) *Note he complains that God did not "KILL" him in his mothers womb. How could God "KILL" somthing that is not alive? #6 Hosea 12:3: The Holy Spirit phrophesies through the prophet that even in the womb Jacob grasped his brother heal. It is stunning that even our very nature and character is manifested in the womb. Here are some from the New Testament: #7 Luke 1:41: When the pregnant Mary greets Martha the unborn John the baptist leaps in his mothers womb. #8 The Incarnation account: "This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit." *NOTE it says she was "found to be with child" in other words pregnate. It was a miracle yet it doesn not say she was "found to be with a ("fetus" or a "potential life") What was in her womb was a "child" not the modern accepted term of "fetus". Life is present from the moment of conception onward. We need to have a biblical veiw of doctrine to go along with our sistematic veiw. In other words, you cannot just use one verse to form a dogma but as a rule of thumb we need the totalility of scripture before we can take a stand on anything. If this does not convince you than just pray about it. Nothin like prayer to answer those hard question we have. The Holy Spirit will guide you. Hope this helps you. God bless... "In essentials unity, in non-essentials liberty, in all things love." |

6 | Adam and Eve and the Chinese characters | Gen 3:1 | dulos | 74606
That is very interesting how chineese letters ties in with the Adam and Eve account in the Bible. It is also good to point out that the Egyptians who were also settled out from the tower of babel used pictures for there writing as well. There is much scientific proof of the Bible and more and more is always being found that disproves of the common beliefs of modern secular history. Many of these discoveries hopefully will someday go public, and people may have to either ignore the truth based on "factual evidence" or actually rewrite the text books. Another good web-site is www.drdino.com. There you will find many articles on creation and well documented evidence on creation. |
