1 | what man was born but never died | Gen 5:24 | cb2859 | 168973
For the record, I don't think so either, although there are some that do -- just thought that was likely the person the pastor was referring to. The real point in Heberews, as I understand it, is that Melchizadek was not a levitical priest -- just like Christ who was from the tribe of Judah. -Chris |

2 | Do I really have to love everyone? | 1 John 4:7 | cb2859 | 150841
All, Yes, God is love (although His primary attribute is that He is Holy). I just want to take this opprtunity to point out that biblical love is not an emotion -- it is how one acts toward others. If you treat your enemies like you would treat your friends ( or yourself ) you are acting in love. As was already pointed out, in ourselves, we don't have this capacity, but the Christian can confidently state that "I can do all things through Him who strengthens me." Here is a URL that states the position better than I could. http://www.bible-truth.org/msg38.html -Chris |

3 | Who is the son of man which is in heaven | John 3:11 | cb2859 | 144648
I'm not Ray, but here is what you asked for concerning Christ as the second (last!) Adam. -Chris 1 Corinthians 45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. 46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. 47 The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. 4 | Church grafted into Israel? | Acts 2:17 | cb2859 | 61348
Sorry I am so late in responding. I still believe the "root" of the vine is Jesus. He is the root that supports us (Romans 11:18). As to John 15:1,2 referring to the Jews, I think the branches are Jesus's followers -- both Jew and Gentile. It is a warning that an unfruitful vine will be "thrown away as a branch". That's just what happened to the Jews. Those natural branches were broken off and wild vines (Gentiles) were grafted in. However, God is gracious and able to graft them in again (Romans 11:23) My Bible lists John 15:1 as a reference to Romans 11:17, so perhaps I am not alone in my opinion. However, I am aware that there are many layers to be understood. Though I don't think that as Emmaus said "Gentiles are grafted into Israel". If anything, I would rather say that we are "grafted" into being Abraham's children. If you wish to discuss this further, perhaps we should make our own thread. -Chris |

5 | Is it a sin for women to wear pants? | Bible general Archive 1 | cb2859 | 59950
In Deuteronomy 22:5 it says "A woman shall not wear mans clothing..." Some have interpreted this to prohibit women wearing pants. Personally, I believe the intent was to prohibit women (and men) from being cross-dressers (or participating in some other sexual deviancy). Today, there are pants made explicitly for women, so they are definitely not "man's clothing". -Chris |
