1 | Saved by belief or belief and baptism? | NT general Archive 1 | PVSpud | 149314
Romans 3 makes it clear "no one seeks God." I believe you have misinterpreted his quote. Its from an old Testament prophet (which you no doubt know) who was condemning Israel for their unbelief and idolatry. It was a denunciation of the time, showing how we all fail on our own, not establishing a doctrine. Did they really have the poison of vipers on their lips. No, neither do we all have the poison of vipers on our lips. Its a reference to the men of hte time, the people of Israel when they were rejecting God. Paul is merely trying to establish that none are righteous, by quoting a prophecy from the past. If I am wrong, please correct me by citing verses, as you have done in the past. Thank you. A fellow brother and servant of God. |

2 | Anything wrong with dating? | Bible general Archive 1 | PVSpud | 147875
I agree that the American custom of dating is often dangerous and can invite danger into an otherwise strong relationship. But, I would watch your condemnation of those who completely trust their teenagers. Being one myself, I'm obviously slightly biased, but I'd like to share from a teenager's prespective. My parent's completely trust me, and my girlfriend and I have had no problems with Satan in our four months of dating. The complete trust has allowed me to feel their support and helped me accept responsibility. I think they fundamentally understand that they cannot stop me from making my own choices, and by encouraging and advising those, they can have a greater impact than restricting me from making them. On the other hand, I've heard from some (three immediately come to mind) teenage friends who say that the lack of trust creates a desire to rebel. Their parents checking on them constantly and restricting them has encouraged the "Russian Roulette" dating among them. So, for those who look for the best method of raising and nurturing their teens, I would say trust is good, though few can handle complete trust. |

Thank you. I particularly appreciate the paragraph that begins with "Further, if we are to justify." It's very helpful.

Makarios, thank you so much for your discussion and address to the issue of masturbation. As a younger christian, I'm looking for sound doctrine to soak up. I will also preay for you, that you maintain a positive attitude, rather than take to insulting or prematurely judging those you don't completely know. I will pray for your understanding about other arguments, and please, continue your Christian discussion.
6 | Predestination | Eph 1:4 | PVSpud | 125164
Joe, I always appreciate your insights into others comments, and your correction of untrue thoughts, but, please, make sure you're not attacking other believers, not that you're currently doing it, just that you're rather aggresive in dealilng with the dissensions.
7 | Predestination | Eph 1:4 | PVSpud | 125163
Excellent point. During all these questions and answers to deep questions I kept thinking this same thing. For God has given us the Spirit as a deposit, and it is this Spirit that will reveal to us the truth of God. Now we cannot come by this Spirit except through the pursuit of it and God, and harsh arguments and bitter dissensions yield nothing to it. God will reveal Himself to those who pray and ask for Him. The sermons from modern preachers do seem pointed towards endearing himself to the crowd or making some deep point in fields few in the congregation understand. We need to be united and challenged in the faith by our leaders, our ministers. Well said Scribe. |

8 | Predestination | Eph 1:4 | PVSpud | 125162
That is a great problem and consequence of the times. Too much of our faith is being influenced by modern sources which say all truth is relative, and you can have your own individual truth.
