1 | getting started over again | Ps 19:14 | Jane Doe | 78874
Searcher, I beg to differ, and want to kindly and respectfully ask: Does the Bible teach us we DON'T have to walk in the light as He is in the light in order to be saved? Or, does the Bible teach even if we walk in DARKNESS we are still saved? Does the Bible teach us we know we are saved even if we DON'T repent or keep His commandments? Does the Bible teach us we can forsake the assembly and NOT gather in worship and prayer, singing praises unto God, partaking of the Lord supper upon the first day of the week and still be saved? Are there scriptures that teach us we can never fall from grace? Kevlee confessed that he has not been in the light or has been living the Christian life the Bible commands us to live. Are His commandments mere suggestions or does the Bible teach: We must obey His commandments to be saved? Satan believed, and didn't walk in the light. Is he saved? Yes, Kevlee can ask God for forgiveness and strength to repent, and as long as Kevlee continues to walk in the light and obey His commandments, Kevlee can have the peace of mind he is saved. There are no scriptures that teach once saved, always saved. Kevlee, will you take advantage of free Bible lessons? If so, please write: Benton Church of Christ, P.O. Box 228, Benton, Ky 42025, asking them to be added to the free lessons, and providing them with your address. You work at your own pace. If you don't want to continue the lessons, simply do not return the lesson. No one will knock at your door or call you. You complete the lessons as you see fit. Thank you, and God bless to all.
2 | One save always saved? | Rev 3:5 | Jane Doe | 78869
To the best of my knowledge of the Book, there is not a gray area concerning one's salvation. There are way too many scriptures that teach us we know we are saved IF WE REPENT AND ALWAYS OBEY HIS COMMANDMENTS. His commandments are not suggestions. No where in the Book does it teach once you follow the Books's plan of salvation are you allowed to continue in a willfully sinful life. Such as an adulterous marriage; reveling (nightclubs, parties, dancing, drinking, etc.); theft, lying, homosexual relationship, hatred, etc. Yes, believing Jesus is the son of God is one of the steps towards one's salvation, but read all N.T. scriptures ... the Bible is very clear that: Lest ye repent, ye shall likewise perish. And, remember, satan also believed.... and he trembled. Will satan be Heaven? I think not. If God intended for us to be saved no matter how sinful we lived, would He have bothered with His many scriptures teaching us otherwise? Are His commandments mere suggestions? Or, do you think He meant for His commandments to be obeyed? Why does the Bible teach: There will be more people in hell than Heaven? If once saved, always saved is God's teaching and philosophy, then no one will burn, right? But, the Bible is clear: More in hell than Heaven. All we can do is pray for understanding and strength to always strive to obey His commandments and walk in the light as He is in the light. Remember, God knows your mind and your heart. He knows we are only humans who are weak, and will sin and fall short. On the same note, He commands us to pray each day for forgiveness of these shortcomings, and strength to repent. May I suggest free Bible lessons? No one will call on you or knock on your door. The Church will mail you a lesson with a postage paid envelope to return your completed lesson. Then, subsequent lesson with return envelope will follow. You work at your own pace. If you don't want to continue with the lessons, then you don't return the lesson. Won't you take advantage of these free lessons? You may write: Benton Church of Christ, P.O. Box 228, Benton, Ky 42025, requesting free Bible lessons and providing them with your name and address. That's all. God bless everyone.
3 | Is Bankruptcy Stealing? | Ps 15:1 | Jane Doe | 78403
God bless you, Gracefull, for taking the time and interest in answering my question. Your response provided good solid advice, suggestions, and straight to the point. My bankruptcy was final 9 years ago. I work for a law firm and spoke with a bankruptcy partner who advised creditors most always delete a discharged debt from their books, but I could contact each one asking if they are willing to create an account to receive payments to which I will do. A word of caution to the folks searching for bankruptcy answers. Beware of large department stores. I feel they have a tendency to slide increased interest rates into your account hoping the consumer will fail to notice--which I believe is with my case. And, yes, interest rates are negotiable. This same scenario happened to a wealthy family member who noticed the interest rate jumping from approximately 5 percent to 14 percent in one month. She contacted them advising they could either return the rate or their company business would be taken elsewhere. The creditor gladly returned the rate. Just FYI. God bless to all.
4 | Ever Doubt God's Existence? | Gen 3:1 | Jane Doe | 78269
Parable, thank you for replying. The replies have been most helpful. Thank you for providing the scripture. Even though I was raised in Church, I've only just begun truly reading the Bible, but never once wondered if there really was a God. Because atheists have succeeded with their campaign in having God removed from schools, Pledge of Allegiance, etc., it appears to me society is accepting this way of life more and more. Why aren't God fearing believers out there campaigning to keep God in our world? Society is so accustomed now to not having God as a part of their life, no one seems to be concerned about their souls. The saddness of it all. Will you pray for me that I might find good solid answers thru His Word that these questions of His existence might be lifted from my soul? Thank you.
5 | Ever Doubt God's Existence? | Gen 3:1 | Jane Doe | 78249
Thank you, Taleb, for replying. The scripture you provided is most helpful. It seems as though I've read in the NT where God can cause you to have a change of heart for whatever reason He has. Is this corect? Do you know of the scriptures I am speaking of? Thru prayers, I have expressed my desire to know if He hears my prayers and considers me His child. I am faithful in attending Sunday worship services and Wednesday night Bible study. And, attend a Thursday night ladies' Bible study when possible I am not one who believes, "once saved, always saved", and know the Bible's commandments and plan of salvation to which I make every effort to follow. It's this unexpected and unwanted curiosity of His existence, I fear, will cost me my soul if I don't find answers. For the most part, I do and want very much to believe in Him, but there's just this tiny bit of curiosity. Please reply. God bless you, sir.
