Rowdy, I agree that the separation from the Father was an unexplainable, tormenting horror for Jesus. One of my favorite verses is Hebrews 12:2, "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God." Knowing that He would be joined again with the Father was His motivation to ENDURE. Jesus has encouraged me to keep my focus on being joined with Him and not to let these little life circumstances make me take my mind off of Him. Even though Jesus was not condemned to hell (He wasn't a sinner, He became sin for us), I know He knows what hell is like (being separated from the Father) and was motivated to die for the sins of us, because of His love for us. This is the very drive I have to teach, love, and longsuffer with those who are living in error, unsaved, and lost, so that their souls are not eternally separated in the end. This was a great response you gave! What a Mighty God we serve!! WalkingTalkingBible |

6 | How do you define cult? | Bible general Archive 2 | WalkingTalkingBible | 121767
Psalms 8:4 and Hebrews 2:7 speak of humans. Hebrews 2:9 speaks of Jesus (that's why he says, "but Jesus"). "A little lower" because He manifested in the flesh like man - for the purpose of putting sin to death. 1 Timothy 3:16 says, "And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory." Jesus is God. Now as a woman of God concerned for your soul, I wouldn't advise you to look in Webster's Dictionary for a Godly definition, you are only going to get a carnal definition. For a better understanding of the Word of God, I would first advise you to ask God to fill you with the Holy Ghost (He will teach you all things - John 14:26), use a reference such as a concordance and an approved commentary, in addition to sound teaching in a truth teaching church (ask and God will direct you to one). The only time "goddess" is used in the Bible is to refer to pagan worship, which is against God. I'm only telling you all of this because denying a part of God is denying Him completely. 7 | can a baby sin | Bible general Archive 2 | WalkingTalkingBible | 122305
Yes, a baby can sin. No, he/she will not be accountable. WalkingTalkingBible |

8 | can a baby sin | Bible general Archive 2 | WalkingTalkingBible | 122378
In addition to the verses Norm has given, I'll give James 4:17 again. A baby sins, but is not accountable because he is incapable of knowing right from wrong. Someone who knows to do right is accountable. Babies have to be taught and disciplined to know right from wrong. Just like when one is newly converted, or born again, he has to be taught, trained, chastised to know how to live according to the word of God. However, just because one doesn't know it is sin doesn't take away from the fact that it is sin. WalkingTalkingBible |

10 | can a baby sin | Bible general Archive 2 | WalkingTalkingBible | 123202
Adam and Eve were accountable. Nowhere in the Bible does God say that Adam (or Eve) were incompetent. Do you think He told them not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil just so He can "set them up?" They were not babies! Anyway, for you to say that they were not accountable is saying that the entire Bible is a lie (I don't think you want to go that route). WalkingTalkingBible |

11 | jehovahs witnesses | Bible general Archive 2 | WalkingTalkingBible | 124719
"He that cometh to God must believe that He is. . ." Hebrews 11:6 Hi, pcdarcan, can I ask you - Do all good and moral people go to Heaven (God's everlasting Kingdom)? Jehovah's Witness and followers are called a cult because the religion is based on a god and not God. Their beliefs are based on a bible and not the Bible (the Living Word - God). Throughout the Word of God (Old and New Testaments) is God as the Creator (Father), God as the Word (Son), and God as the Holy Spirit (1 Timothy 3:16). The leader of the Jehovah's Witness religion made God the way He could understand Him. God is not a word, He is His Word - which is Jesus. The Holy Spirit is not a force - He is God in spirit. The Living God is a Holy Trinity - one God, three manifestations - not separate. I've had the opportunity to talk with some Jehovah Witness members and they are nice people when they talk to you - I agree about that - but there's no anointing. I also work with some J.W.'s and some of their lifestyles are as those that don't believe. The only way members are added is to present themselves in this matter and only someone who doesn't know God will follow. I don't say this to put you down because before I believed, I didn't know God either. I know that if more Christians would witness and let the Light shine in their lives, more souls would be added to God's real Kingdom. But face it, the unsaved is not looking for truth, they're looking for something to make them feel good. They want to be told that they can do what they want and still go to Heaven (God's everlasting Kingdom). But I have to tell you that only the believing (those who KNOW God and believe in all of Him and not just what they want) will be in God's Kingdom. The J.W. religion (I won't be disrespectful and say cult) and it's doctrine teaches of an idol god and not the Living God. "Not every one that saith unto Me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven." Matthew 7:21 WalkingTalkingBible |

12 | Things people THINK in the BIBLE but not | Bible general Archive 2 | WalkingTalkingBible | 126711
Hi, to fully understand this, you have to know who Christ was - God in the flesh. Now it can be understood that the very nature of God is sinless meaning that He cannot sin. The statement that TheFinalSQL made is correct - it is nowhere in Christ's nature to sin as opposed to man. James 1:13b says, "for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:" Romans 8:3: ". . . God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh. . ." meaning He came in the form of a man (remember, we were made in His image and likeness), not in a sinful form. He had no ability to sin. 13 | Did Jesus actually go to Hell? | NT general Archive 1 | WalkingTalkingBible | 117850
In 1 Peter 3:19, the term "prison" designates hell. Ecclesiastes 12:7 speaks of death and says, ". . . and the spirit shall return unto God Who gave it." We know that after death, depending on the spiritual choice one made while living, one either goes into the presence of God or to hell (which is like a holding place before the lake of fire). Because Jesus' purpose was not a natural one, He would not have gone to a natural prison to set "spirits" free. Also, no one is held captive in Heaven, so heaven is not a "prison." Since we know that the enemy takes the unbeliever captive (2 Timothy 2:26), then hell would be like a prison. This is especially so before the death of Jesus because there was no reconciliation between God and man. There was only one place to go, believing or unbelieving. WalkingTalkingBible |

14 | Did Jesus actually go to Hell? | NT general Archive 1 | WalkingTalkingBible | 117863
A lot of things Jesus did to "fulfill all righteousness." For example, when He was baptized (Matthew 3:13-15), He didn't have to be baptized, but if we are to do all that He does, He was baptized as an example of what we are supposed to do. Remember also, He was every bit human as He was God. Knowing also, that before his death, all who died went to hell, that prison we talked about earlier, so He commended His spirit (not the Holy Spirit) into God's control.
15 | Did Jesus actually go to Hell? | NT general Archive 1 | WalkingTalkingBible | 117869
I didn't say that Jesus went to hell to stay. He went to set the captives (those believers that died before Christ's redemptive work on the cross) free. Before Christ died for the sins of the world, no human, except Elijah and Enoch, went into the presence of God. WalkingTalkingBible |

Let's take the limitations off of God. God created the heaven and the earth, as well as hell (Matthew 25:41). It's not a "bad thing" to think that Jesus, who is God in the flesh, the Living Word of God, went to hell to take care of business. Yes, He ascended after death, but as Ephesians 4:8-10 says, He had to first descend. There was not paradise for man until Jesus' victorious death. 1 Peter 3:19 simply says that He went and preached unto the spirits in prison. What kind of prison holds spirits? Would one call heaven prison?? The spirits are not held on earth against their wills. God is in total control at all times. He's sovereign. Jesus says in Revelation 1:18, that He has the keys to hell and death.

Nowhere in the Greek text for 1 Peter 3:19-20 does it say NOW. Anyway, as you are getting closer to God in your daily walk and as you continue to search for the truth as it is, He will reveal it to you (as He spoke to the other followers in John 8:31-32). As servants of God, we do not have to strive. I've prayed that the truth be known. WalkingTalkingBible |

19 | Did the Holy Spirit go to Hell? | NT general Archive 1 | WalkingTalkingBible | 117893
I hope I didn't lead anyone to believe that Jesus was condemned to hell after His death. All I said is that after He left His natural body (on the cross), He went to get the believers, that had died before His redemptive work, and took them into the presence of God. Believing that Jesus was condemned to Hell like sinful man is a humanistic view that blocks the revelation of the truth. Jesus obtained the keys to death and hell (Revelation 1:18), where before sin was crucified and overcome by Him, no human could go into the presence of God (often called Paradise). In death, the soul and spirit are separated from the body. Hell was a holding place for both the believing and unbelieving souls although they were separated there. After Jesus' death (in that He crucified and overcome death and sin), there was now reconciliation between God and man, and those souls, who died believing God, but also died in bondage to sin, were now worthy to be in the presences of God. The Lake of Fire, I know, is the second death, the eternal separation of the soul from God after judgment. In no way does this mean that Jesus went to hell for three days. Remember, He told the other thief on the cross, "TODAY shalt thou be with Me in paradise" (Luke 23:43). WalkingTalkingBible |

20 | Who has left an awesome legacy to follow | NT general Archive 1 | WalkingTalkingBible | 117909
YoYo, I have a few more (well four to be exact): Mary, the mother of Jesus - who, even though she didn't understand everything her Son had to accomplish, stayed by His side, even at the cross - which teaches us that we may not know everything that God is doing, just trust Him (any of the 4 Gospels) Hannah - one of the wives of Elkanah, the one "he loved," was made fun of by the other wife, Peninnah, because of her barreness; she knew she could trust God and went before Him and asked Him for a son and promised to give the son back to God if He answered her prayer, as God did allow her to have a son (Samuel, the Judge), she kept her word, praising God for answering her prayer (1 Samuel 1 - 2:1-11) Sarai (Sarah, the wife of Abraham) - when God had promised them a son in their old age (and Sarai was barren), Sarai chuckled in misbelief, went on, after years had passed before they had received this son, gave Abraham her handmaiden, and they had a son (Ishmael), God made them wait even longer, and finally, she brought forth the son God intended (Isaac); this teaches us not to be like Sarai (as the world is still dealing with the decendants of Ishmael today) and wait on God for everything - never move before God (Genesis 15 and 16) Judas Iscariot - betrayed Jesus for some silver, was greedy and selfish, didn't repent, driven to commit suicide because of his guilt (John 12:2-5; Matthew 26:15; Matthew 27) I know there are lots more but maybe someone else would like to contribute!
