1 | Discussion Question | Matt 19:24 | The Berean | 61444
Thank about what Jesus taught. There is nothing wrong with having the good things in life...although if they are exalted rather than shared..then that is a problem. The Proverbs say wisdom is greater than Silver and Gold. God want's us to be good stewards of what ever we have..be it materials, time, fellowship etc. Don't be duped by some TV evangelist focusing on prosperity too much. Remember Jesus came into town on donkey not a stallion. He identified with the poor and oppressed, not the rich and unruly. If you find yourself spending more time with your goods than with God...then you have a problem. Mj read Phillipians Chpt 4:10-13 for info. |

3 | What makes a christian an unbeliever? | 1 Cor 7:15 | The Berean | 61438
This text is speaking of unequally yoked marriage. God has said what he has put together let no man seperate! Even if that is an unequally yoked marriage. A true christian cannot be an unbeliever. All saints are to be judged by their christian walk and the spiritual fruit they produce. Remember we are not under the Law...we will still fall short of God's glory. We all miss mark and we have Jesus to go to for forgiveness and repentance...in hopes that we sin less in our lives. An unbeliever is just that...one who does not believe that Jesus Christ is Lord and savior. In the context above...the unbeliever is sancified by the believing spouse..they are under the protection of God's grace. Now when they leave they are no longer under God's protection. Hope this helps. MJ |

4 | angered at God?? | Gen 4:5 | The Berean | 61224
Well that is true. But in the end, rebellion, disobedience and anger all all sins in God's sight. Cain was angry when the Lord did not accept his offering. Was he angry at the rejection, Abel or God? You make the case. He was upset period!. That is my take.
5 | How do you interpret this verse? | 1 Cor 14:2 | The Berean | 53802
The translation I would look to is the NASB. However you must stick with the concordance or use a hebrew-greek linear bible (i think that it what it is called) It gives you the translation from greek word for word...so the sentence flow will not be perfect when spoken...that should help you out. 6 | Rom 7:9 What's it mean? | Bible general Archive 1 | The Berean | 51770
That is a good question. We don't have to understand what sin is. Think about it..do you have any kids? Take some time out and just sit around some little kids...and watch their behavior. Some is learned others are not. My daughter didn't like sharing anything with any kids. How did she learn that behavior. One word..it is natural, the human spirit is self centered from the start. It can appear as some one who doesn't know any better hasn't sinned. Yet we cannot deny that fact that sin exist within them. There is the potential for sin to arise...and it always does. I was once alive before the commandment came, but my life on earth in this fleshly body is not alive in spirit. It is spiritually dead. So in essence any action I do will seem right to me. I won't think it is wrong. Read Galatians chapter 5. We cannot sneak around the issue of sin with clauses or loop holes. Then if we did God is not all powerful and knowing as we claim him to be. Trust me i used to think I was the nicest kid around growing up. But I lied, cheated, was cunning and wished evil things on people. All in my mind. Which could have lead to action if possible. In verse 19 of Chapter 5 in Galatians it mentioned 'fits of anger'...which is a sin. Now tell me who in the world has never had a fit of anger? Everyone has from the littlest child to the oldest man. I don't think Paul was trying to exclude young people and the mentally incompotent. God has created us all...compotent and incompotent, sane and insane. The evil things I did before salvation didn't seem evil to me...but after the commandments came, I recognized the evil within me. See Col 3:5-10..I hope I made some sense. The Berean |

7 | 2ond most important book in your life? | Bible general Archive 1 | The Berean | 51526
Greetings. Without a doubt there are really no other books that can compare or even come close the Word itself. However if there is any thing that can help you with your walk it is your prayer journal. I must confess i haven't written in it recently, but when I review my past conversations with God some years ago..it makes your realize how good He is and what you have been through. You can look back at your requests, prayers and testimonies and learn from your past, thus showing you where you have matured, what areas you struggle with and how you have pleased God. Yours in Christ The Berean |

8 | what is the understanding of chap 14:15 | 1 Cor 14:19 | The Berean | 49980
Simply stated, the use of the tongues in church is irrelevant if there is no interpretation or understanding. No one can benefit from tongues privately in worship. If no one in the church can understand, no one is being edified. Think about this, 5,000 words of instruction is the primary purpose of saving those who are lost, then you would have to agree that tongues would never reach an unbeliever to the Lord. Which is the reason why you would need an interpreter. So praying in an manner that is not understanding does nothing for the body.
9 | which nation actually resembles God? | Bible general Archive 1 | The Berean | 49903
Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha....are you serious? God made Adam from the dust of the ground....last time I checked dirt is not light like you think it is. Christ was a Jew and he most likely resembled the people in the mesopatimia era...Just look at folks of middle-eastern descent and it is very highly likely that he was that color. Brown skin, not pale or anlgo like most of would like to think. God made man in his image...not his color. God cannot be confined to just one color, he is God. Hey I'm sorry for the laughter, I must apologize. Read this for understanding. Col 3:11 "a renewal in which there is no distinction between Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave and freeman, but Christ is all, and in all."

11 | which lineage of noah do blacks come | Gen 10:6 | The Berean | 49900
I think it is Ham. This guy wrote a pretty good article about it. "According to the Bible the ancient Egyptians were descended from Ham through the line of Mizraim. Ham had four sons: Cush, Mizraim, Phut, and Canaan (Genesis 10:6). The name "Mizraim" is the original name given for Egypt in the Hebrew Old Testament. The name "Egypt" itself actually comes to us from the Greeks who gave the Land that name (i.e. "Aegyptos" from the Greek). In addition to the name "Mizraim," the ancient Egyptians also referred to their land as "Kemet" which means "Land of the Blacks." Western historians, however, say that the word "Kemet" refers to the color of the soil of the land rather than its people. But, the word "Kemet" is actually an ethnic term being a derivative of the word "Khem" (Cham or Ham) which means "burnt" or "black." Ham, who was one of the three sons of Noah and the direct ancestor of the Egyptians, was black. The Bible, in the Old Testament, repeatedly refers to Egypt as the "Land of Ham." Regarding the ancient Egyptians, there is also considerable historical evidence, aside from the Bible, that they were of Black or Negro origin. Even today the true Egyptian is not to be found in the cities but in the country sides and farmlands of Egypt. Most of the Egyptians in the cities carry a mixed ancestry of European and Asian, but mostly Asian from immigration of various people into Egypt throughout the centuries." Babu G. 13 | Who believes the Bible? 2 Tim 3:16 | John 1:17 | The Berean | 48912
Hello Grace and Truth. Welcome to the forum. I'm not sure if anyone else understands your comment without clarification. Although I did compare scriptures you had mentioned. Are you referring to the timing of the verse? Since 2 Tim 3:16 is primarily referencing to Old Testament Scripture, given through Moses. And yes I do believe the Bible. John 1:1. Hope to hear from you soon. MJ |

14 | Where was Jesus For 3 days after death | Luke 23:46 | The Berean | 48497
According to Scripture, he went to the Father. His spirit did, but his body was still in the tomb. I don't know of any verses in scripture that says he went to Hell Specifically. Also in John 19:30 Jesus, said it is finished, and he bowed his head and gave up his SPIRIT. To whom? See Luke 23:46. So as far as the Hell thing goes, very unlikely. When IT was finished, the payment for sins was done. Hope this helps. MJ |

15 | Use of water in old testament. | Ex 30:20 | The Berean | 48421
The significance was for ceremonial cleansing of sin. Many of the priest had to wash with water ceremonially to be able to come into the presence of the Lord. See also Ezekiel 36:25
16 | will the church see the antichrist reign | 2 Thess 2:3 | The Berean | 48399
Hello Flo, the antichrist is already here. Some beleive it will be an actual person other believe it to be a 'movement'. Lets see what the Word says. Read 1 John 2:15-24, and 4:1-3. In particular verse 3 of chapter 4 where it says, "and now is in the world already". From Scripture it seems as if it may not be an actual person, because anyone who denies Christ has an anti-christ like mind or way. MJ |

17 | communion in 2 denominations | 1 Corinthians | The Berean | 48396

18 | Did God created people before Adam | Gen 1:1 | The Berean | 48177
Hello marg, that is a pretty good questions. I have heard that before. Some folk refer to Genesis 1:24-26 and Genesis 2:5-9. The reason being that the creation order is reversed. In Genesis 1 the animals came first then Adam and Eve, but in Chapter 2 it is Adam and Eve who are created first then the animals. So the possibility could be endless. But when you test the Bible with other parts of scripture, Adam was the first created. All those who responded to this question please provide more input if possible, for myself, marg and others as well. We need to be able defend the Word of God at all angles. Apologetics I think is one of our weakest areas in our walk. I Love this web site. Peace. MJ |

19 | Did Jesus suffer in hell when he died? | Luke 23:46 | The Berean | 48056
This is clearly a false doctrine. No where will you literally see "Jesus descended or went to hell" in the Bible. However there are some scriptures that can be twisted to make it seem as if he went. One common one I know of is 1 Peter 3:18-20. But let us go to the Cross. When one of the thieves defended Christ while he was on the cross himself he says in verse 41 of Luke chapter 23, "And we indeed justly, for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong. 42 And he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom." 43 And Jesus said, "Truly, I say to you, TODAY you will be with me in Paradise." Later on in verse 46 Jesus says, "Father, into YOUR HANDS I COMMIT my SPIRIT!" and he breathed his LAST BREATH. Now let us look at this. Christ told the theif that TODAY he will see him in paradise, not tomorrow, or the next day or after the 3rd day. Jesus also cries out to God, I commit my spirit into your hands. So Christ went immediately to be with the Father. No where does he say, Oh hold on theif I have to go to Hell first then we can fellowship in heaven after the 3rd day. Or even to the Father, I can't commit my Spirit to you God until after the 3rd day, hold on for a while please. If he did he would be disobedient...and we'd have big problem. Hope this helps. Yours in Christ.
