1 | If a wife is treated cruel can she divor | Bible general Archive 1 | SSprln | 52268
God does not want a wife to endure abuse...if a husband abuses his wife, it obviously wasn't God's will for them to get married in the first place, so yes, a divorce is needed.
2 | When do we receive the holy spirit | NT general Archive 1 | SSprln | 51706
No...we receive the Holy Spirit when we get saved (accept Christ into our life).
3 | where are we in Bible prophecy? | Revelation | SSprln | 51704
We are part of the church at Philadelphia.
4 | Ques. for Grace andTruth | Romans | SSprln | 51454
The Plan of Salvation goes something like this: (1) Realize you're a sinner. Romans 3:23 says "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (2) Know that the penalty for sin is death. Romans 6:23 says "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord." (3) Understand that Christ died and rose again for you. Romans 5:28 says "And God demonstrates His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." (4) You can be saved through faith in Christ. Ephesians 2:8-9 says "For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast." (5) Saying a prayer doesn't save anyone, but it is a vital part of accepting Christ as your saviour. You need to tell Him that you realize you're a sinner, and that He died and rose again to take your sin away. Ask Him for His forgiveness, and tell Him that you want to live for Him. |

5 | why can't a christian dink or dance | Bible general Archive 1 | SSprln | 51452
Drinking is a personal preference...it is not sinning unless you put it before God or other priorities that God designates in your life. So basically, if you don't GET DRUNK, then you're fine, in my opinion. In Proverbs 20:1, the Bible says "Wine is a mocker, and beer a brawler; whoever is led astray by them is not wise." The same goes for dancing...there are things that go on at dances that shouldn't go on, but that again is your decision. Their is NOTHING UN-Biblical about dancing! That notion is very ignorant. The next time that you hear that, tell them to prove it, and then point out that David danced before the Lord and Michal was cursed with barrenness for criticizing him.
6 | Why must I go to church? | Heb 10:25 | SSprln | 51450
Other christians are positive influences on your life. Hebrews 10:25 states: "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching."
7 | another hypothetical, applied ethics | James 4:7 | SSprln | 47779
I would do nothing and let him die. My reason: Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. |

8 | But Satan is our enemy, so how? | Matthew | SSprln | 39075
I'm not sure, but I think Satan fits into another category, because he is not human! Because if we love our enemies, we can win them to Christ by showing them the example that Christ gave for us.
9 | Best commentary on Revelation? | Revelation | SSprln | 38966
I'll tell you some good Commentaries: 1. Revelation Unveiled-Dr. Tim LaHaye (One of the best ones on this list.) 2. Revelation Revealed-Dr. Jack Van Impe (Jack Van Impe's a bit of a sensationalist, but I deeply admire him--I'd read some other of these commentaries before his, though.) 3. Commentary on Revelation-Dr. J. Vernon McGee (Very good theologian and Bible teacher.) 4. E Quake-Dr. Jack Hayford (I don't really agree with his teaching on Revelation, but after you've read books by J. Vernon McGee and Tim LaHaye, this book will provide a practical applicaion for Revelation.) 5. There's a New World Coming-Hal Lindsey (I have problems w/Hal Lindsey--I don't like him at all for some reason. He's kind of off a little bit, but his commentary was over-all OK.) 6. Revelation, God's Word For the Biblically Inept-Daymond R. Duck (This book is very good for a firstcomer to Revelation; it actually has 5 authors, all of which are pretty respected (except for Hal Lindsey!), so it's pretty good for understanding!) 7. Interpreting Revelation-Tenney (This is a good book for an advanced student of eschatology.) |

10 | Love your enemies(Satan?) and pray for.. | Matthew | SSprln | 38959
When Jesus says to love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, He means exactly what it sounds like! We are to love everyONE and to pray for the people who DON'T love us. I don't think we should love the devil, because in James (chapter 5, I think!), it says to "resist the devil, and he will flee from you."
11 | Grossly mistranslated | Bible general Archive 1 | SSprln | 38956
Grossly mistranslated, is it? What is your authority to say this? Yes, a few passages have a word or two that could be translated another way, but not everyone speaks Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic; sorry, that's the way the world works. And, where do you get your information that the Bible has 45 "original" books that were left out of it? I have never heard such a thing, and obviously they were not subject to the teaching of the other truly canonical books of THE BIBLE. Yes, it is definitely one of the most misinterpreted and misunderstoody book of teachings in the entire world. And by the way, the Bible says that we can't understand it without the help of the Holy Spirit anyway. If you'll post the question, I'm sure you can get the reference to that verse, but I couldn't find it.
12 | Help me understand Rev. 19:16 clearly. | Bible general Archive 1 | SSprln | 38948
I'm not sure I can give you a real Bible reference to answer your question, but this is not a tattoo on the body of the Lord! The Bible doesn't specify what it actually is, but I think I can assure you that it is not colored pins stuck in the thigh of Jesus! |

13 | Mark of the Beast | Revelation | SSprln | 3405
I'm sorry that I've took so long to reply to this question, and maybe I already have (I really don't remember). No, you CANNOT get saved after receiving the mark of the Beast, just as one cannot get the mark of the Beast after receiving Christ.
14 | Sabbath because it is a rule? | Col 2:16 | SSprln | 2182
I didn't even read your whole note/question/reply/whatever it is, but I don't think we have to honor the ten commandments any more. I don't know the verse, but it says that we should esteem every day the same, and that we should live for the Lord every day. The Bible says that the letter (law/10 commandments) killeth. We are in the new covenant so we should be living according to the new testament. Hope I helped.
15 | How have the offices changed? | Eph 4:11 | SSprln | 2181
Ok, I'm sure someone's already answered like this, and I'm just adding my 2 cents. To give you some advice, hopefully good, I would contact a well-known Christian leader--like Charles Stanley or Adrian Rodgers (or Tim LaHaye or Jack Van Impe, just to name a few)--of your denomination, not that *your* denomination has the right view point, but...). Anyway, I think for every gift that has gone "out of office," there's a secondary for it. Exp. tongues used to be speaking a language w/o previously learning it. Now, I believe that the gift of tongues is God giving you a passion/talent for speaking another language. See what I mean? This is just my opinion, so take it or leave it. I hope I helped you!
16 | what is baptized in the Holy Spirit | John 14:16 | SSprln | 2180
The baptism of the Holy spirit is when we are initially "filled" w/the Spirit upon believing in the Son of God and receiving life through His name and grace.

*You* have known him since he was a kid?
18 | Who is the Bride of Christ? | Revelation | SSprln | 1727
The Church--the body of Christ.
19 | Point of No Return | Revelation | SSprln | 1726
"Concerning your second quesiton about the impossibility of being save[d] during the tribulation period if one had heard the gospel before the rapture occurred--I taught this for many years but then discovered some new light on this subject while studying Acts Chapter 2. This chapter covers the tribulation hour and verse 21 dogmatically declares that 'whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved'. The text in II Thessalonians 2:9-12 in context sees the antichrist enthroned. Those who trust him (antichrist) and receive the mark because of the strong delusion permeating the world are the ones who are condemned. See Revelation 14:11. I hope this helps."
20 | REV4:5 .THE MEANING PLEASE | Revelation | SSprln | 1724
"THE SEVEN SPIRITS OF GOD. This refers to the seven eyes of the Lord or characteristics of God (cf. Zech. 4:10 and Isa. 11:2)."
