1 | We perfect our faith? | Matt 22:37 | Rom831 | 30790
You say: 1) Then wouldn't any willful rejection of God's will be unto death? Yes. If we Reject JEsus, so He rejects us Matthew 10:32 "Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven. 33 But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven. 2) But we can repent any time we want to, and be reinstated? I don't see anywhere that there are only certain times that God will open the door for us and the rest of the time He keeps it locked... 3) So our lives are in our own hands, we decide our fate, right? Luke10:25 On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. "Teacher," he asked, "what must I do to inherit eternal life?" 26 "What is written in the Law?" he replied. "How do you read it?" 27 He answered: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and, "Love your neighbor as yourself. 28 "You have answered correctly," Jesus replied. "Do this and you will live." We can either do this or not. The choice is ours. Jesus tels the man to DO this and live. 4) If this is so, I expect to see a LOT of people saved through deathbed repentance! Yep, just like the thief on the cross 5) we become the perfecters of salvation Jesus is the "perfecter" of our salvation. If WE then "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind", that's all we can do. He does the rest. Bless...ArtS |

2 | "ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED"!!! | Matt 22:37 | Rom831 | 30129
Look at the Prodigal son. He was a son, turned his back on his father (God) and became lost. He then returned to his father (God) and was again found. He was a child of the father, knew him and was his. He then willfully turned his back, took his inheritance and left. But he finally returned. So he was Alive, then dead, then alive. Luke 15:24 for this son of mine was dead and has come to life again; he was lost and has been found.' And they began to celebrate. Some will say he wasn't saved to begin with, but he WAS a son, not a stranger. And the verse says when he returned, he was alive "again" which means he was alive before. But we see in between, he WAS dead. There are other verses about causing believers to stumble, about churches becoming dead and needing to awake again, about casting those out who fall away until they return. But this to me is the most clear cut. Bless...ArtS |

3 | 3 times married well you go to hell? | John 4:18 | Rom831 | 29843
Marriage isn't a sin. divorce is a sin. God forgives our sin if we truely seek forgivness. As in the case of the woman at the well, Jesus did not condemn her. He did not tell her to divorce again or return to her first husband. Instead, he invited her to take of His living water. Bless...ArtS |

4 | Is Depression of the devil? | Bible general Archive 1 | Rom831 | 29841
I know this is an older post, but I wanted to throw this in. I suffer from Chronic Depression and have for many many years. Is it from the Devil? no. Adam and Eve were created perfect. They had no defects. When Adam sinned, the world became broken. Just look at all the things that happened immediately to Adam, Eve and the world becauseof the fall (Gen 3:16-19. As time progresses from then, more and more defects enter into our world, and yes, our bodies. This started with the fall and the further and further from then we get, the more these pile up on each other. Ever wonder why incest wasn't "wrong" until Exodus? Incest is bad because the genes between close relatives are too similar. If there is a flaw in one's genes, there is too great a chance that flaw might be present in the relative's genes and therefore cause a defect. Between non relatives, the chance that a flwed gene from one parent is also flawed in the other parent is pretty small. If one parent's gene has a flaw, the other parent's non flawed gene can take over. But in the begining, there were no flaws so none to be matched and no defects. But through 10,000 years, these have grown. Is my depression from Satan? No. Its from a broken world. Can greater faith in God cure it? Hmmm... God CAN cure anything, but doesn't necessarily cure everything. This is a burden I bear. But honestly, I have been able to help a number of people with depression because I know what they go through and can relate and be there for them because I too have it. Would I like to not have it? You bet! would I give it up if it meant not having been able to help the people I have? No. Bless...ArtS |

5 | The Purpose of Hell? | Rom 9:20 | Rom831 | 29839
Although Joe's answer was great, I want to throw in a little as well. god doesn't damn anyone to hell. God desires that we all come to Heaven. The problem is, sin cannot enter Heaven and we are all sinful. When we choose sin, we can no longer go to Heaven because God cannot look upon sin. So what is the option? Someplace where God is not, a place where sin is put for eternity; a place that totally is without God, and therefore, without anything good. Since we all deserve this, God had to provide a way for us. That way was Jesus. If we merely accept God's forgivness through fiath in Jesus, our sins are covered by His blood and we are cleansed. If we reject this, we cannot enter Heaven. This isn't God's punnishment. He doesn't condemn those people to Hell. The choice is ours and we cannot blame God for our choice. Bless...ArtS |

6 | Giving | Num 18:24 | Rom831 | 29570
We tithe to the Lord. Not to a particular church or even to A church. Give from your heart to God, be it your old church, your new church, the homeless, those in need, the ministery, etc. And it doesn't HAVE to be money. We see in the Bibles examples of tithes as grain, wine, oil, firstborn of your herd or flock, spice, etc. As long as you give from your heart to god, He is pleased. Because God loves a cheerful giver. Bless...ArtS |

7 | WHICH COMES FIRST, THE RAPTURE OR TRIBUL | NT general Archive 1 | Rom831 | 29529
There are many views - pretrib, pre wrath, post trib, etc. But there are many verses that lead me to believe in pretrib. MT 24:29 "Immediately after the distress of those days " the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.' MT 24:30 "At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory. 31 And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other. This can mean only one of two things. vs29 either referrs to Rev 4:1 or Rev 8:7. If it's 4:1 then vs 29 refers to the time preceding the tribulation where things start getting bad (spoken of throughout the NT and Dan 11). If it refers to Rev8:7 then vs 29 refers to the seal judgments. So, at MOST, we will be here for only the seal judgments and will miss the trumpet and bowl judgments and the 3 woes. So which is it? 1TH 5:9 For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ And what is the tribulation? REV 6:16 They called to the mountains and the rocks, "Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! 17 For the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?" Notice that in Rev 6, they are already speaking of suffering God's wrath which Jesus promissed us we would not. Since Rev 6 comes before Rev 8, the Above Matthew verse can't be speaking of Rev 8. So it must be speaking of Rev 4 which takes us out of the Tribulation all together. Unconvinced? Ok... Now read Daniel 11, particullarly verse 21 on. This describes the ruler who will be alive just before the tribulation/end times. Most of this describes a conflict in the middle east. Keep reading into 12 which is the tribulation (as in Revelation). Did you catch it? DA 12:1 "At that time Michael, the great prince who protects your people, will arise. There will be a time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then. But at that time your people--everyone whose name is found written in the book--will be delivered. 2 Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt. This is right at the begining of the tribulation. We know this because the rest of Daniel goes on to detail it. This is when we will be delivered, the dead will awake, some will go to everlasting life, some to everlasting death. Yet this isn't post trib, because all of Daniel still has to happen. 8 | Pray with Eyes Closed? | John 11:41 | Rom831 | 29528
Its a custom that has very little to do with God and a lot to do with Human nature, namely, distractions. Close your eyes so you aren't distracted and looking around and fold your hands so you are not figeting or doing anything to distract you. Being a parent, I am SURE this had to be dreampt up by a parent at some point! lol Bless...ArtS |

9 | matthew 12-43 | Matthew | Rom831 | 29341
It is talking about when a demon is driven out, that it will try to reenter the host. In fact, it will go out and gather other spirits to try to possess the person as well. When these spirits return, if they find the "house", which is the person, "swept out and tidy", these spirits will again, "move in." But if they return, and the person is instead filled with the Holy Spirit, they won't be able "to move in." Bless...ArtS |

10 | Leviticus 19 talks about not marking you | Bible general Archive 1 | Rom831 | 29334
Leviticus 19:28 29 "You shall not make any cuts in your body for the dead nor make any tattoo marks on yourselves: I am the LORD. I believe this to be still talking about for the dead. it is not seperated by any punctuation indicating a seperate thought. At least I hope so! I have three. Two of which are "religous". One on my wrist has been a source of great help to me. I suffer from chronic depression. When I get real down, I can't help but occasionally glance at it. It is a simple "Christian fish" with ROM8:31 in it. When hard times come up, I might simply feel sorry for myself. But just a casual glance reminds me "If God is for us, who can be against us?" 13 | A vision of Love | Eph 5:2 | Rom831 | 28958
One thing I really liked with the 1 Cor verses is to remember that "God is love". So for each of those verses that say what love is, God is as well. Other good verses are John 15:12, Rom 12:9-10, Rom 13:8-10 and Eph 5:2. Bless...ArtS |

14 | Who are these people thatJesus condemns? | Matt 7:22 | Rom831 | 28951
Did you ever see the movie "A Leap of Faith" with Steve Martin. He plays a scam artist who goes to towns setting up revivals and preaching. The female costar calls him on it and he replies, something like "What's the difference as long as I get the job done?" I think this is what Jesus is referring to. Many people claim to be Christians, claim to love and accpt Jesus, but only do so outwardly, not in their hearts. An athiest can speak the words "I believe in Jesus", but that doesn't mean they do. It is also possible to believe in a false Jesus. I have heard those who claim to believe in Jesus but don't believe He was raised, or don't believe He was the Son of God, or perfect, etc. These people believe in something they call Jesus, but its not Him. 15 | What does predestinated means | Ephesians | Rom831 | 28950
This is a post I just gave to another question on this. Basiclly, God has already chosen who will be saved. But the question is, who are chosen and why? Revelation 17:14 says those "who are with Him are the called and chosen and faithful." We are chosen not by name. God didn't sit down with a big list of names and check us off Santa-style as saved and unsaved. Those who are chosen, are those who are with Jesus. Meaning God didn't choose me specifically, He chose (predestined) those who would believe in His Son as a whole. 1 Peter 1:1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who reside as aliens, scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, who are chosen 2 according to the foreknowledge of God the Father... See? chosen by God's foreknowledge. Not randomly, but by His foreknowledge of who would accept His Son. Remember, God knew our whole lives well before we ever existed. He knew then who would accept Jesus and who would not. To me, this is the only way to have the whole Bible fit without the old "What Jesus was really saying was..." trick. I believe if He was really wanting to say anything else, He'd have said it. Bless...ArtS |

16 | John 3:16.. whoever believes not perish? | Rev 13:8 | Rom831 | 28949
Matthew 22:14 "For many are called, but few are chosen." But the question is, who are chosen and why? So to answer your questions, 1: we know we are chosen if we believe in Jesus. 2: The unchosen are those who do not accept Jesus. Unfortunately, yes, they do go to hell. 3-4: do you see how the explanation above answers this? The chosen ARE those who believe. Bless...ArtS |

17 | Why is there suffering? | Job | Rom831 | 28872
Because of the fall. God created a perfect world that became a broken one through the original sin. Remembering how much simpler and how much closer to perfection Adam and Eve were, look at how the suffering increased in there lives and how the world changed in Genesis 3:16-19. The further we get from perfection, the more sin there is in the world, the more suffering there is. This will cumulate with the events of Revelation. Nasty indeed! But all will be set right afterwards, when we are finally with Jesus. Bless...ArtS |

18 | IS PRODUCING"GOLD DUST"@CHURCH A GENUINE | NT general Archive 1 | Rom831 | 28843
I would question, why gold? Did Jesus ever produce material wealth as a sign? Tears, blood, wine from water, healings, food, I can see. But why gold? Gold, to me, is a sign of wealth, of possesions and greed. Not exactly the things Jesus was very big on. And if gold, why something so easilly hidden and not something that would be obvious enough to give Him glory and not just make one wonder "how'd he do that"? If Jesus had been given one fish and all of a sudden had two, I'd say slight of hand. But enough to feed 5000??? Bless...ArtS |
