1 | scriptures on sex before marriage | Rom 8:38 | Paulette | 14204
Hi, Having sex before marriage will not "disqualify" me from going to heaven. The question is what "qualifies" me to get to heaven in the first place. It does not matter if I am having sex before marriage, or sitting on a park bench breathing oxygen; neither will result in my not going to heaven. Sex before marriage in the bible is called fornication. Fornication is a sexual immorality. If I practice fornication, I am being sexually immoral, hence I am sinning. If I am not a child of God, I will die in my sin. In other words I will not go to heaven. Romans 3:23 "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." I am not worthy of God's glory because of my sin nature, the one I was born with because of Adam. Looking at Proverbs 7 it talks about a young man who lacked judgement. A woman (who was not his wife, hence it was before he was married) seduced him "led him astray" vs. 21. Verse 26 and 27 describes this young man as: slain, to the grave, led to the chambers of death. Vs 25 says "it will cost him his life." I think that this scripture shows this kind of behaviour results in death rather than life. Life meaning living erternally with the Father in Heaven. |

2 | Is the catholic one of the 7 churches | Rev 1:4 | Paulette | 14194
Hi, John wrote to seven churches in the Roman province of Asia which is actually in Turkey on our present-day map. The churches are named in the subsequent chapters, Pergamum, Smyrna, Ephesus, Thyatria, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea. As a side-note the number 7 is a symbol of completeness, perfection and fulfillment. Seven is also associated with Christ in the book of Revelation. |

3 | sex before marriage--going to heaven? | Rom 8:38 | Paulette | 14178
Hello, I wanted to start by saying that all believing Christians are eternally secure. The key to this is that you have first recognized your sinful nature, repented of that sin, turned away from it and truly accepted the free gift of grace that God offers us through the blood of his only Son, Jesus Christ. We then become His children. There are two families on the physical earth, God's family and the devil's family, you are either one or the other. You become a child of God through faith and acceptance of Jesus Christ as your personal saviour. Is there anything that can cause us to lose our salvation? What sin could I possibly commit that would separate me from God? Could it be having sex without being married, could it be stealing office supplies from work? Could it be having an abortion? The answer is there is no circumstance if we are truly a child of God. Jesus forgives us of all of our past sins at the moment we put our trust in Him, he also covers all of our future sins. Being a child of God does not mean that we are supernaturally unable to sin, so we will sin until we die because we are not perfect creations. It is a lifelong process of sanctification. Growing in the Lord, recognizing sin when it is upon us, repenting, turning away, etc, etc, etc. God wants us to be like his son Jesus, like his Son, means perfect because Jesus was without sin. Even though it is really an impossible task, we should strive toward that goal. |

4 | Why is His name is Jealous? | Ex 34:14 | Paulette | 14047
What does 1 Cor 3:3 tell you about jealousy? It is characteristic of worldly behavior. Is jealousy ever a proper response? Does it ever sow good rather than evil? Believe it or not, the anser is yes! What is a righteous kind of jealousy according to 2 Cor 11:2? Godly jealousy. What does Exodus 20:5 tell us about jealousy? That God is a jealos God, he wants us for himself and no one else. What kind of jealousy does God possess? Joel 2:18 "The Lord will be jealous "for" his land and take pity on his people." Zech 1:14 :This is what the Lord Almighty says, I am very jealous "for" Jerusalem and Zion." Zech 8:2: "This is what the Lord Almighty says, I am very jealous "for" Zion; I am burning with jealousy "for" her." Now, go back to 2 Cor 11:2 "I am jealous "for" you with a godly jealousy. Do you see a common characteristic in all righteous jealousies? A very big difference exists between being jealous "of" someone and being jealous "for" someone. God is jealous on our behalf. He is jealous for us to know the One True God. He is jealous for us to be in a posture of blessing. He is jealous for us to be kept from the evil one. He is jealous for us to be ready for our Bridegroom. Jealousy "for" someone's best is of God. Jealousy "of" someone's best is of the enemy. |
