1 | Diagram of the Bible | Bible general Archive 2 | bjh | 97216
It seems like the question is asking you to give the content of each section. (E. g., Matthew - John, either "The Gospels" or "The Life of Christ"). Okay, so "Give a description of each grouping". What do you know about Genesis? What can you find there? What do you know about Exodus - Deut.? ... Maybe the first question I should have asked is "Could you give a 3-6 word description of each section?" |

2 | Explain the Diagram of the Bible | Bible general Archive 2 | bjh | 97221
This looks similar to your other question, so I'll give the same response. It seems like the question is asking you to give the content of each section. (E. g., Matthew - John, either "The Gospels" or "The Life of Christ"). Okay, so "Give a description of each grouping". What do you know about Genesis? What can you find there? 3 | Heaven isn't capitalized because...? | Bible general Archive 2 | bjh | 98763
Editors preference, I guess. (Kind of like using "bible" instead of "Bible"). Punctuation is a recent addition to languages (like somewhere in the last 500 years). As for capitalization, some, if not all of the earlier manuscripts used all CAPS and no spaces. |

5 | About Premillenialism... | Bible general Archive 2 | bjh | 107946
Since you asked "what scriptures" I'll file this under general. Basically Premillennialism is the idea where Christ's second coming is followed by a thousand year reign on David's throne. Rev 20:1-6 Gives the time. Romans 8:18-22 talks about creation being restored from its subjection. (As opposed to being burned up, as in 2 Peter 3) How? Answer - millennial reign of Christ. Isaiah 11 also speaks of the millennium. Note the restored earth in terms of the animal kingdom. Daniel 2:34-35, 44-45. Note how the stone destroys the other kingdoms so that not a trace of them is left. We don't see this today, so when? Answer: The millennial kingdom. Back to Rev 20. Note that the Bible says that Satan will be bound and imprisoned for 1000 years. Yet, we know that today Satan prowls about like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. (1 Peter 5:8). Yet, we see that there is death and a curse, Isaiah 65:20. Again, not today - few people, if any would consider 100 youthful. Answer - millennial kingdom. 1 Cor 15:20-28 - Christ will come, and all of His people will be raised. He will reign until he has subjected all his enemies. After that, he will deliver up the kingdom to the Father. |

Jesus' era is AD from the latin "Anno Domini" - translated "the Year of Our Lord".
7 | Death? Where do you go when you die? | NT general Archive 1 | bjh | 124166
Consider the following... 1) Jesus told the thief on the cross, "Today you will be with me in paradise." (Luke 23:43) 2) Stephen cried out to the Lord, "Lord Jesus receive my spirit." (Acts 7:59) 3) The ultimate destination is not the present heaven, but rather the New Heaven and New Earth. (Rev 21-22) |

8 | How many books did paul write? | NT general Archive 1 | bjh | 153004
Paul wrote Romans, 1 and 2 Corinthians Galatians Ephesians Philippians Colossians 1 and 2 Thessalonians 1 and 2 Timothy Titus Philemon For a total of 13 books (Hebrews is debated, but I would say "no" based on Hebrews 2:3-4 - Paul was an eyewitness, he was taught by Christ Himself, and performed the signs of an apostle. The author of Hebrews talks about others who did and claims none of this himself.) |

10 | Was the curse on the ground lifted? | Gen 8:21 | bjh | 177484
Personally, and I know there will be those who disagree, I think the Adamic curse on the ground will only be lifted at Christ's second coming. Romans 8:18-22... Evidence that the original curse, c.f. Gen 3, is still there... 1. Toil 2. Thorns and Thistles Perhaps in Genesis 8 it is saying there won't be an additional curse. The ground has been cursed to us. We have to deal with the thorns and thistles. We, humans in general, have to work hard, to toil and sweat to get crops. But, there hasn't been another worldwide flood and there never will be. |

11 | Gensis 9:6 : whoever sheds man's blood | Gen 9:6 | bjh | 144905
Basically, God is introducing capital punishment (the death penalty). See also Romans 13. Note verse 4. It is God's purpose for government to bring wrath on those who do wrong - even if it means death for the offender. Murder is the ultimate offense because God made man in His image. It is not our place to take the life of another (outside of what God has ordained - again, read Romans 13). |

12 | Does Deut. 24:1 still apply? | Deut 24:4 | bjh | 106084
When we look at divorce, we must take into account all the passages that speak about it. We must understand that God hates divorce (Malachi 2:16). Divorce is tied to the seventh commandment (Ex 20:14; Matthew 19:9). Divorce is sin. So, on the one hand, it seems like your question is, "do two wrongs make a right?". No, of course not. See also Matthew 5:32. I think Deut 24:1-4 still applies. Why do you ask? |

13 | What was Samson Weight and Height? | Judges | bjh | 95667
Both of those depend upon his age. In Judges 13:24 he weighed a lot less than he did in 14:1. Hopefully he was a lot smaller, too. Again, he weighed less in 16:19 than he did in 16:18. What makes you ask? |

14 | Two Christmases? | Is 9:6 | bjh | 106368
The "Santa Claus" Christmas seems to be a cheap immitation. This is not to say that it is wrong to exchange gifts at Christmas, but we, as Christians, exchange gifts with the understanding that the greatest gift came from God the Father, in the person of His Son. (Of course, we "give thanks to the Lord above" through His Son, and for His Son.). What other thoughts would you add to this, Hank? |

17 | Sabbath Saturday change to Sunday | Matt 5:18 | bjh | 231755
I'm going to tie this answer to Matthew 5:18, because that is where your question comes from. I'm not sure that's where the answer lies. I admit that for the Jew, to whom the Mosaic Law was given, the Sabbath (Saturday) may not have changed. I, however, am not a Jew. It seems, that we need to look at Acts 15:20 to get an understanding of the law and Gentile believers (i.e., most of the church). Note that Sabbath-keeping was not one of the restrictions. Elsewhere, we read that we are not justified by keeping the Law, but by faith. Romans 3:19-31 What is one day over another? Colossians 2:16-17 Is not the Son of Man the Lord of the Sabbath? Mark 2:23-28? |

18 | Why Jesus quotings Genesis? Matt 19:1-12 | Matt 19:1 | bjh | 138197
His purpose was to explain that marriage permanently unites husband and wife together. If the two become one flesh, divorce is like amputating a limb. His intent is to show that divorce is not an option for believers. (Matthew 19:6) |

19 | What did they say? | Luke 4:22 | bjh | 218355
Who did they think He was? Who was He really? They "spoke well" but I don't think they truly recognized Him as God. Yes, they marveled at His words, but he was "Joseph's son", not "God's son". We see in this passage that He claimed to be the Anointed One - the Messiah. Not everyone can say that they fulfill "the favorable year of the Lord." |

20 | Where is *unconditional* love ? Verse? | Luke 6:27 | bjh | 146281
The phrase "unconditional love" is not in the Bible. However, the same can be said for "trinity" which believers hold to without question. The word "trinity" may not be in Scripture, but the concept definitely is. Back to the issue at hand...unconditional love. Consider how Jesus describes love in Luke 6:27-38. Love someone no matter what they do to you. John 3:16. God so loved the world. Why? What did the world do? They killed His Son, Jesus Christ. What was His love based on? While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Rom 5:8) This is unconditional love. |
