1 | where does the soul rest before Christ | Bible general Archive 1 | PJC | 74558
2 Corinthians 5:8 To be absent from the body is to be at home with the Lord. Read this chapter in context. The body remains, the soul goes to be with the Lord immediately upon death. When Jesus returns for His church, Harpzo (the taking up) those who have died (their bodies) will be caught up and changed and those who remain (those alive) will be caught up and given new bodies. 1 Thesalonians 4:15 Be sure that when you look up Scriptures that you check out the cross references as they can clarify the Scriptures for you. 2 | The Human Race... A few questions | Bible general Archive 1 | PJC | 74559
I can't resist your questions and I hope this helps your understanding: 1) Human nature is inherently sinful. 2) Human beings are born with a sin nature. 3) Human life is more valuable because we were created in God's image, according to His likeness and we are fearfully and wonderfully made. 4) Get a Bible concordance and look up any words that you feel are related to your 'human life' questions. IE: intentional killing, unintentional killing you would look up "manslayer" or "blood avenger." |

5 | Genesis 4:17 | OT general | PJC | 79091
Cains wife was his sister. The Bible tells us that Adam and Eve were the first to be created. All other men and women were from them. Cain went out from his parents and did indeed marry a sister living away from them. (Remember, the fall of man had just begun and intermarriage among family was not forbidden.)Adam lived 930 years so he and Eve must have had a lot of children! Think about the multiplier on this. At minimum, 1 child every 2 years they would have had 465 children, possibly more. May God give you discernment as you search His Word. PJC |

6 | Is water baptism must for Holy communion | NT general Archive 1 | PJC | 75171
Communion is open to all believers. Baptism is an outward sign of an inward pledge (an acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior). Salvation does not depend on baptism, baptism is a step of obedience made by those who believe. So if you have not been baptised that does not preclude you from taking communion. Matt. 26:26 Mark 14:22 |

7 | Is water baptism must for Holy communion | NT general Archive 1 | PJC | 75242
All of you, thanks for your replies! After reading all the above responses I have been shown a better way. Hank, you have presented the real problem that I touched on in my answer to Emmaus. Churches who offer communion each week are misleading new believers and visitors who may not understand the importance of partaking in communion. My church opens communion each week to believers but never, ever has made a statement on baptism prior to communion. It does, though, require baptism prior to membership in the church, unless you have been baptised elsewhere. This is an issue that I need to search the Scriptures further for myself. (Better get out the concordance and begin looking up the verses…in context of course!). -PJC |

8 | Ideas Urgent | NT general Archive 1 | PJC | 78452
petethemete: How about posting your bio information so all who are answering can know some more about you? God reveals Himself through His Word. That is why He gave it to us. Dead men did not write the Bible but the living God did. You must remember, God is infinately greater than you or I can comprehend nor is He a "man" that we can see Him physically. Read John…over and over and you will see a testimony of our God who came to earth and became flesh. Continue in devoting time to the Bible in study, not just casually reading it but out and out study. Check out the cross references so you can grasp the entire counsel of God. Scripture is the best interpreter of Scripture. Ask God to open your eyes and heart and increase your desire for His Word. You will soon find, my friend, that you can serve the One you cannot physically see but you will know Him oh-so-much by seeing Him working in your life! Pray this helps. PJC |

9 | ARE ALL ANGELS MEN ? | NT general Archive 1 | PJC | 78453
Angels came in the form of men. Genesis 19:1-4 Lot calls the angels "my lords." Jude 1:9 Michael the archangel. (Man's name) Rev. 12:7 Michael and his angels… Genesis 18 Abraham and Sarah visited by angels who appeared as "men." So as you read over these Scriptures you will see when the messengers, angles, came to deliver messages, they often appeared as men—never women in the Bible. Pray this helps. PJC |

10 | Why was Christ baptized? | NT general Archive 1 | PJC | 78454
Read Matthew 3:15 This is a good question. Look at what the purpose of baptism really is. Through context and word studies it means to be IDENTIFIED with Him. When we are baptized we identify ourselves with Jesus. Jesus was identifying Himself with God. [Please note: Don't confuse recieving the Holy Spirit and baptism as being the same time. We receive the Holy Spirit upon our belief in Christ. Out baptism demonstrates our identification with Him.] Matthew 3:13 Jesus told John the Baptist to baptize Him. Why? To fulfill all righteousness. What was that righteousness? It was prophecied in the Old Testament. Here are some out takes… Jeremiah 31:33 Prophecied that the new covenant God would write His law on our hearts whereas before they were written on tablets of stone. This new covenant that we are under, since Jesus died for our sins, is different in that respect. God is working inside our hearts with the Holy Spirit. Psalm 37:31 Law of God written in his heart… Psalm 40:7-8 Jesus was to do the will of God. His Law is written in my heart. Isaiah 51:7 A people whose heart is My Law. Matthew 5:16 Jesus recieves the Spirit of God. Mark 1:1012 The Spirit came upon Jesus and Jesus began His earthly ministry just the same way when we come to belief and faith in Jesus the Holy Spirit begins to guide us into all truth. We begin the ministry that God has set apart for us. Most of the things that Jesus did in the New Testament was foretold in the Old Testament. Jesus was being obedient to His Father. God said He was well-pleased with Him. Pray this helps. PJC |

On THE judgement day (Rev.) when Christ comes back to earth, those who are unbelievers will be judged for their sins. On the other hand, those who believe are not part of this judgement. They are in heaven and they are given rewards. Sorry I haven't given Scripture references to all these but I wanted to give you some direction on this. Search the Scriptures for judgement and rewards and you will discover what God has in store for all. Pray this helps. PJC |

13 | How did adam and eve children have child | Genesis | PJC | 75170
I don't mean to be abrupt in my answer but Adam and Eve's children had children they way people do today. You need to remember that sin was new to the world and the interbreeding of close family was not yet a problem. Mankind was living in perfection and the fall started mankind's downward spiral in health and years lived. Hope this give you some guidance on this subject. |

14 | Was Melchizedek Jesus? | Genesis | PJC | 79891
Hebrews 7:1-7 Melchizedek is such an interesting Bible character. Heb.7 v.1 "king of Salem" - a king Heb.7 v.1 "priest of the Most High God" - a priest Heb.7 v.3 "without genealogy, neither beginning of days or end of life" - his birth, life and death were not recorded or witnessed. (That does NOT mean he was not born, just that those things weren't available.) Also he didn't reflect the latter qualifications for priesthood by having to be from the sons of Levi. (v.5) Heb.7 v.3 "made like the Son of God" - foreshadowing Jesus (who by the way was Prophet, Priest and King) Heb.7 v.4 "Now observe how great this MAN was" - he was a real man, not a legend. Heb.7 v.5 "in the law collected a tenth from the people" - Foreshadowed the Levites because in v.2 Abraham apportioned a tenth of all the spoils to Melchizedek. Melchizedek certainly was a foreshadow of Christ and came before the Levitical priesthood. First mentioned in Genesis 14:18-20. Gen.14 v.18 Melchizedek brought out bread and wine. How much more illustrative can the Word be? Pray this encourages your study! PJC |

15 | Was Jesus 2yrs when wisemen visited? | Gen 1:1 | PJC | 78184
We know from Scripture that Jesus was not an infant baby when the wise men visited Him. In Matthew 2:11 Jesus and His family were living in a "house" when the wise men visited. [NOTE: Contrary to the millions of nativities sets out there, there were no wise men at Jesus' birth. So you might want to take your wise men out of the nativity and set them across the room!] The wise men traveled from the far east and that took time, time from when they first saw the star in the sky.(…they were riding camels!) All these events came about AFTER the Christ was born. (Matthew 2:!) The Bible does not tell us how old Jesus was, but we know that the wise men visited him AFTER his birth when his family had settled into a house. Pray this clarifies your question. PJC |

16 | where there men on earth before adam ? | Gen 3:20 | PJC | 74542
No, there were no men on earth before Adam. You referenced Gen 3:20 "Eve was the mother of all the living." You must remember that Adam was uniquely created… Gen. 2:7 "The Lord God formed man (Adam)from the dust of the ground and God breathed into his nostrils the breath of life." All other men were born through a woman. (Eve was also uniquely created as she was taken from Adam's side, all other women were born from a woman.) |

17 | Is this a prophecy about Messiah? | Gen 49:10 | PJC | 74540
Yes, this blessing from Jacob to his son Judah is a prophetic blessing. Shiloh was where God dwelled among the 12 tribes of Israel when they came back to the promised land from 430 years in Egypt. You can read more about Shiloh in Joshua chapter 18. Shiloh means rest. This was a time when all Israel finally had rest after the land was apportioned to the 12 tribes.God had given all of Israel's enemies into their hands. But God did not dwell for long in Shiloh as he went to Zion due to Israel's disobedience. (Remember, Israel means "he who strives with God" and certainly is a picture of us today. We need to seek God;s rest through our obedience,) |

18 | Exodus and a God to fear | Exodus | PJC | 75079
Exodus, as all throughout the Bible, shows us a picture and demonstrates the character of God, our heavenly Father. There are times when He seems strict with His children. There are times when He expresses His concern for Israel in conversation with Moses (Exodus 3:16). The message for believers is to see how God is all the things and more that good father should be in bringing up and raising His children…especially through the example of the nation of Israel in the Old Testament. Yes, He should be feared…feared because we are sinners and He is such a merciful Creator. We can never do enough to repay what He has done for us in Jesus Christ. That is the whole point…we cannot do anything to deserve His favor. That favor is indeed a gift from Him and reflects His grace. As you continue to read Exodus I prayerfully hope that you will see that Israel could never keep all the Law therefore, they needed to cry out to God and seek His mercy. Just as we do today—we cannot work toward gaining our own salvation. In chapters 32-34 of Exodus, God should have killed all of Israel for their disobedience as they made a golden idol but He didn't. But He did send a plague (He "smote" -Exodus 32:35) among the people and also killed 3,000 that day. (Some believe those killed were the leaders of Israel.) Exodus 34:6 will describe to you some additional characteristics of God. This is also where He reiterates His covenant with Israel. Talk about merciful! Our God is that and more indeed! |

20 | Time frame between Gen 4:16 - 4:17 | Lev 18:1 | PJC | 76246
Adam and Eve most likely had many children between the time Cain and Abel were born (Gen. 4:1-2) and the time they were men (Gen. 4:8). Cain and Abel could have been 600 years old at this time that Cain killed Abel. Remember, Adam lived 930 years. Why do I say that? Because in Gen. 4:25 it says that Adam had relations with his wife "again" and they had Seth. You may have thought, Abel has been killed and the next child that is mentioned is Seth so that Seth must be their third child. The Bible doesn't say that Seth was their third child. This verse, Gen. 4:25, is interesting: the word for "again" means repeatedly, still more, times all life long. This would indicate that Adam and Eve continually were conceiving children during this time. NOTE: Seth lived 912 years. PJC |
