2 | how big was the arc | Gen 6:14 | Mark51 | 211357
The only measurements that the Bible gives ark in an ancient measurement known as cubits: 300 cubits in length, 50 cubits in width, and 30 cubits in height.-Genesis 5:15. The proportion of the length to the width is the same used by modern naval architects: 6 to 1. There were 2 intermediate floors-providing 3 levels totaling to about 96,000 square feet. The standards used by the ancients are not clear because there were three different standards argued. The common and most accepted measurement was based on the span between the elbow and the finger tips equivalent to 17.5 inches. However, some scholars and historians suggest that a long cubit (20.4 inches) was employed that addend the span of a hand to the common measurement; and, the short cubit (15 inches) measures from the elbow to the knuckles of a closed fist. The best evidence for a “common standard” is the length of the water tunnel built by King Hezekiah. According to an inscription at this site, the length is 1200 cubits. According to modern measurement, this tunnel equals to 1749 feet-equaling a measurement of 17.5 inches for cubit. |

3 | Why is Matthew 18:11 omitted ? | Matt 18:11 | Mark51 | 211355
The lack of a verse at Matthew 18:11 are purposeful to alert the reader that it was not original in the oldest Greek manuscripts available today. Subsequent copies of these ancient manuscripts have a verse. This certainly suggests that an addition was made by the copyist at that time. Because of the purpose to maintain the most accurate translation possible, most modern Bible translations that do not add a scripture. |

4 | What is meant in Luke 9:1-6 | Luke 1:1 | Mark51 | 211358
Jesus instructed and sent his disciple throughout the Jewish communities to cure the sick and preach/teach them about the “good news” and of the Kingdom of God-one of the main themes of the bible. This assignment is likened to what missionaries do today. They were not to carry any provision, money, or extra garments because there was a cultural responsibility to provide hospitality for travelers. If denied, they were to continue to a deserving household and dismiss lacks of hospitality symbolically by “shaking the dust off their feet.” Such household were not deemed deserving.-Compare to Matthew 10:5-15. |

9 | What about the "unknown god" of Acts 17: | Acts 17:23 | Mark51 | 211213
Athens was the center of Greek learning, literature and art. It became a university city fill with professors, lectures and philosophers. The state controlled religion and encouraged it by paying for public sacrifices, rites, and processions in honor of the gods. Idols were to be found in temples, public squares, and on streets-of which people regularly prayed to. The people feared the deities and in order not to offend any of the gods, they built an altar inscribed: “To an Unknown God.” They even erected altars to deify the abstract: Fame, Modesty, Energy, Persuasion, Pity etc. This is the altar that Paul pointed out tactfully that this Unknown God was about whom he was preaching about. This subtle approach was prudent due to their cultural religious beliefs. |
